Tour was fantastic, informative and interesting, well done to the volunteers. Such a shame that this site is being let go by the owners, could do with some maintenance to keep it a place to visit!

An absolute must-do while you’re in Ararat. The tour offers a really fascinating look into the history of Australia’s mental healthcare system. The grounds and the buildings are absolutely beautiful.

The tour was fantastic and I highly recommend it over the ghost tours. Seeing and being inside the buildings and hearing about it's history was creepy, shocking and amazing. You get to hear how the Asylum was run when it was open and active, and hear the guides tell stories about some of the patients, including some of the funny antics they got up to. Some of the stories come directly from former staff and patients. Walking around during the day gives you a really good scope of how massive the place is. The volunteer guides were full of factual knowledge and information on Aradale and were more than happy to answer any questions anyone had. The tour was done at a very relaxed pace and no one was hurried, so there was plenty of time to take photos. This tour is done by volunteers from a not for profit organisation and all ticket sales go to maintaining JWard. Although they'd much rather the ticket sales go to doing up and maintaining Aradale, unfortunately their hands are tied due to bureaucracy. If you haven't done this tour, I highly recommend doing it at least once. Personally, I know I will be back to do it again.

Aradale ghost tour was amazing. Raven, our tour guide made the tour both interesting and eerie. We can't wait to do the 6 hour paranormal tour.

A very nice and sometimes eerie and creepy experience led by great volunteer tour guides who told some interesting stories about the place and it's patients. Definitely a go-to place when visiting Ararat

Very informative tour visiting quite a number of the buildings across the Aradale site including the men's / women's wings, nurses quarters, kitchen, main hall and even the morgue. Alex was a great guide and we sure got our money worth well over 2 hours.

Very enjoyable, great vast storylines of history and acknowledgement of the prime architecture. Some stories are facinating and some are fairly Grim with a dark past, but don't let that get to you, a good 2hr tour. They cover 85% of the grounds and buildings.

Our guide Alex was so informative throughout the tour with a great mix of history and humour. Sad to see and hear that this heritage site might be lost
