Very pleasantly surprised. Hotel listed as 2 to 3 star hotel, but I would give it a 4 to 5. Clean comfortable modern rooms. Has everything you could need, such as mini fridge with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, pool, jacuzzi, gym, toiletry dispensers, hairdryer, safe, desk, etc. I expected a few continental breakfast items, but there was cheese omelets, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, waffles, yogurt, bagels, fruit, cereal, juice, and even peanut butter and hot sauce. They even had a corkscrew at front desk. Location is ideal for shopping, dining and freeway access. Inside locked corridors, front desk 24/7. Just can’t say enough good things, but hopefully covered it. I will definitely stay here every time I come to Sacramento! You should, too. Can’t beat price either.

As a seasoned traveler, my recent stay at the Arden Star Hotel offered a blend of positives and areas for improvement. Let's start with the positives: The hotel, though showing its age, is undergoing promising renovations. The updated sections boast clean, pleasantly scented rooms with tastefully done interiors – a welcoming sight for any guest. For the early riser or the busy traveler, their breakfast is a highlight, featuring an impressive variety of options ranging from dual egg omelets, savory potatoes, biscuits with gravy, waffles, to the classic lineup of sausages, bacon, pastries, and fruits. However, the aspect that notably detracted from our experience was the customer service. Upon arrival, we encountered difficulties with our room door, which was challenging to open. Given the cold weather and the room's exterior entrance, we requested a room change – a reasonable ask considering the visibly low occupancy. Disappointingly, the front desk, manned by a seemingly inexperienced staff member, was unaccommodating, insisting on no room availability despite obvious evidence to the contrary. In hospitality, customer service is paramount, and unfortunately, the Arden Star Hotel fell short in this critical area. A potentially four-star experience was marred, leaving us with no choice but to rate our stay as a three-star experience. I am optimistic that with improvements in customer handling, future guests will have a more consistently positive experience.

I read a mix of reviews about this place but I liked the management responses to the reviews so we decided to give this place a try. I'm VERY glad we did! Parking was easy, free and plentiful. Our room was large and extremely clean! I liked not having carpet and the hard-surface floor in our room had clearly been thoroughly scrubbed. Also, we were happy with how absolutely quiet it was overnight so we could sleep well. The beds were soft and comfortable. The breakfast was perfect...way more variety than expected. I loved that the cheese omelettes and potatoes were unseasoned which allowed us to season them ourselves. Excellent value for the price! We would definitely stay again.

Fast, friendly and smart service. Quick check in and brief note on what situated where in the hotel. Neat, clean room had basic amenities like microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, toiletries. Soft bed.

Worst experience ever! Would give it a negative rate if we can! Upon arrival, the front desk was empty and the staff was chatting loudly in other room. We booked a room of 4 but got only 3 sets of towel. When taking showers, there weren’t any body wash left. Tried to call the front desk but no one answered. We had to run downstairs several times to get what we need in the room. The breakfast was a joke. We came down around 8:50 am. Most of the food or tray were empty, so as cofee and milk. We asked the female staff to refill the food, she claimed that they were all gone for the day. We asked her again how come the food was running out an hour before the breakfast time ended. She told us that they are CLOSING the business and the place is SHUTTING DOWN in a month! The staff started to refill all the food when they saw more and more guests coming for breakfast around 9:20. We’re not sure if the hotel is shutting down or not but the staff was LYING to their guests is a BIG MISTAKE!

I usually don't write reviews, but feel like many of the reviews did not paint this location how we felt. First the good. The staff was great. They were kind and friendly. The breakfast was great as well. We did get there pretty soon after they opened, about 6:45 or so (breakfast is from 6-10 every day), but it was fresh, eggs with cheese, sausage, biscuits filled with sausage and eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy, waffle station, cereal, bread and bagels, fruit, juice and coffee. We did stop by before leaving about 8:30 one morning and all of the waffle stuff was put away, so it may go fast. The location also seemed fairly safe, even though it is a rougher area a few blocks over. One of the reasons we booked the hotel was because it had such great reviews and was recommended for families. We were traveling to visit the Zoo and FairyTale town with our young kids, 2 and 4. This is more of a mix between hotel and motel. Some rooms are accessible from hallways inside, others are outside through a locked gate, more like a motel. We stayed in one of these rooms. When we walked in, the smell of cleaning supplies took us back and all windows had been left open. They have removed all carpet and replaced it with linoleum floors, our feet were sticking to the floors as we were walking around (we assumed from whatever they used to clean). The beds also shifted on the floors if you leaned against them or bumped them. Because of the floors and lack of carpet and padding, you hear every step the people above you make. There isn't a built-in closet, but a freestanding one and desk and cabinets with a fridge and microwave in it. These close very loudly with strong magnets. Again, you can also hear when your neighbors close theirs. Not helpful with small kids if you are trying to open or close them while kids are sleeping. The bathroom only had one bar towel rack, a back of door hook would have been helpful, there is basically no counter space, and the toilets don't have lids. Not very friendly for sharing a space with others, or being able to close the lid so kids don't throw stuff in... It gave the bathroom a public restroom feel. It would have been nice as well for them to see we reserved the room for 4 people and provide enough bath towels and washcloths for everyone, but I had to request more. They provided containers on the wall in the shower for shampoo, conditioner and body wash, the conditioner was empty (only to find out while taking a shower), and they had hand soap and lotion on the wall in the bathroom. The lotion was not lotion. Overall, this was not what we would have expected for the price or the other reviews.

This place was excellent. Will be staying here when I am in town in the future. It was very clean, everything was kept up well, the staff were all very professional and friendly, it's close to food and shopping, gated pretty secure parking lot. Great location. Can I mention again that the staff were just wonderful and well mannered. Really just a great experience.

An excellent stay! Really nice rooms with flooring (not carpet), good shower pressure, plenty of parking, clean pool, super easy check-in and check-out. They also have a nice little laundry room! Plenty of trash cans around the property as well and it’s super clean all around! They also have a super friendly security man in the night, who also brought pool towels in the night! I just wish they included more extra towels in the rooms. Out of our 3 nights there, we only left the sign to have our room cleaned once and we returned to find they also organized our shoes and other small items. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Sacramento!

Was surprised! I thought it was gonna be a cheesy hotel. The name and sign did not give me confidence while booking, but my experience changed quickly. Super friendly attentive staff. The only down side is no elevators. I am a traveling seamstress and have lots of gear I bring in with me. Luckily they moved my booking to the 1st floor. The room smelled slightly of dog odor, but a first floor is always the "pet level/floor". Newer fixtures and clean warm beds. Breakfast was great! I would recommend coffee cups with lids, so bummed not to bring coffee on the road. Overall, I slept great and had a nice breakfast. Thank you! 😊 Oh! And panda express and a pizza joint in same parking lot area, didn't have to go far for dinner.

Lobby doesn't provide coffee thru the entirety of breakfast. Rooms were nice, night staff was lovely, pool was great. Parking lot was secure, don't let the neighborhood turn you off, it was a great stay for the price.

This hotel is great! The beds are comfortable, the rooms are nice and clean, and the bathroom is well stocked. The staff is amazing and goes above and beyond. I made a request for a bedside picture of Patrick Swayze under special requests when making my reservation and Lilly made sure it happened. It really made my week! The breakfast is so much better than a continental breakfast, it's more like a small breakfast buffet. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Sacramento. The price is such a value considering what you get. Thank you Arden Star staff!

I really like the beds in the rooms look real nice. The bathroom is also nice. My only complaint is that the lighting is a little bit too dim and you can hear the PA announcements from the lot next door. They start happening early in the morning. Maybe the room's closer to the office are better. If you have to get up early for something that's no big deal.

Very clean and comfortable room and beds/bedding. Excellent breakfast. The late afternoon check-in staff were not quite up to par with their customer service skills (two girls in their twenties who obviously wanted to be elsewhere and were too busy on their phones to look up as I approached the front desk). They were not friendly. However, the checking out staff (a man) and breakfast crew were very friendly and warm. I also liked that there was private on site security there who was also friendly and professional.

I needed a last minute room for the night so i stayed here. I don't know the area well but, the room was very nice spaceous and clean. Beds were very comfortable . Breakfast in the morning was a very nice extra. Hot food ,not just coffee and pastries. And the price can't be beat.

Nice hotel , so much more than I expected! Remodeled rooms were super nice, Arrived late , area where hotel is located , is super dark. Security guard Ernesto walked us to our room helped us with our bags and assured us that we would be safe and he would be on duty untill morning. Great guy, good stay nice place, will definitely stay again.

We stayed the night here on 6/27 after flying into Sacramento super late on a delayed flight. The room was clean, the AC cooled the room off quickly, and the beds were comfortable. Also, there was no noise from neighbors or loud sounds from the surrounding area or traffic. I got to enjoy a hot shower, and surprisingly, the continental breakfast was absolutely delicious! Also the staff were super warm and welcoming, and everyone we interacted with were very kind and pleasant.

When we first saw the room we were like wow nice! as we entered we could smell that funky rundown motel smell, there was a spill on the table/counter top that was next to the TV. Luckily we always take a container of sanitizing wipes with us because I had to get to work and wipe down all table tops, bathroom cupboard top, sink and toilet, the wipes were so dirty, I was surprised because it looked like everything was nice and clean except for that spill. On our wall was a bug that looked like a roach that someone smashed but no one cleaned it up. One thing the sheets looked nice and clean. We were really happy that we stayed only one night.

This Hotel is an amazing place to stay for one night or for a little City get away. It's rooms are always clean and well stocked with towels, refrigerator with freezer. They have a beautiful salt water pool and hot tub open year round. It is very well maintained and always clean.

We had an overall decent stay. It was in the location we needed it to be. Pros: Location is right off the major highway and there were plenty of restaurants around the area. Room was comfortable, staff was friendly. Cons: Loitering was high and people were just hanging out in the parking lot at night. Lots of lights but having cameras in every area made it feel a little unsafe like something was going to happen.

We left the cleaning sign on the door at around 2:00 pm when we left for a family event. The sign on the door read "The star is out go ahead, make my bed. (Please tidy my room)." When my family and I returned to the room, our beds were not made at all. We even took the extra step and placed our items in the closet and counters and didn't leave any items on the bed. When my mom went to ask if our bed could be made she was met with a rude receptionist named Dulce. My mom mentioned that our beds were not made and if someone could be sent. Dulce said that the reason as to why someone couldn't come in to the room to clean is because the cleaning people make their rounds at 11:00 am and they leave around 3-4 pm. Dulce said it is "common sense" to put the sign at 11:00 am and there was nothing she could do. When my mom asked for towels Dulce rudely turned around and handed her the towels with a very displeasing attitude. I would not be writing this review if Dulce offered help and did not have an attitude. My mom was not rude at all, and simply wanted this quick issue to be fixed. Dulce was not professional and has made me think twice about returning to this hotel again.

We had an excellent two-night stay. The beds were comfortable and the (thankfully) carpet-free room clean. Staff was friendly - we had an issue with the TV on the first night and after they couldn't resolve it immediately, they suggested a change of room. The breakfast was superb. Location is near shopping and good food options. Driving into the city center was easy. We will stay again next time we are in Sacramento!

I have to say that I was very impressed at the cleanliness of this hotel. From the outside looking in, the place seemed sketchy to me, but I’m glad that we chose to stay here because the rooms were nice and clean and I love how it SMELLS clean.. when I book at a lot of low budget hotels, there’s usually a weird smell or mildly smell, but this hotel has a nice and CLEAN smell. I also felt very safe here. We checked into the hotel at around 3am and security has the front doors closed and they had to ask our name for the reservation to buzz us in. I wasn’t expecting this type of security but I immediately felt safe because of that. It also came with free breakfast. There was cereal, cheese omelet, vegetable egg white omelet, bagels, juice, breakfast sausage like brown n serve, bacon, French toast, and a waffle maker. This place is also close to and within walking distance of panda express and other restaurants. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

Me and family stayed one night here at the Arden Star hotel, although the rooms and the building are old and could use a renovation and a chlorine smell in room 141, it was overall pretty decent. The breakfast was good, the staff were super friendly, it was overall great, but getting to the room was a bit confusing. I really hope you guys can renovate all the rooms into a nice modern look. Would I stay here again? Maybe.

This is a hidden gem. I came in very late and Alexis, the receptionist, was very kind and helpful. Ernest, the on site security, walked me all the way to the very last building where my room was. The room was beautiful. The bedding is super comfortable. Only Complaint: In the morning the front desk lady, someone young with dark hair opened the room, this is about 7AM. I hear the door open from the other room. I jump up just as it’s closing. Then there’s knocking. I pop my head out. The lady is saying that the room is supposed to be empty. I show the key but she wants a receipt. I tell her it’s in the car and she reluctantly tells me it’s okay once I offer to show her the charge on my phone. WEIRD very upsetting way to wake up. The next day, Ramon at the front desk was super patient and kind to try and print out a train ticket for me and re-activate my key. The lady from the morning deactivated my key, sneaky. When I came back from breakfast, the door wouldn’t open. I thought this was pretty petty. The breakfast was great. Lots of options. I will be back.

The room was very nicely renovated and very clean. My only complaint was that the soundproofing wasn't ideal. We could hear the TV in the adjacent room and people walking around on the floor above ours.

Great hotel, very clean comfortable beds, good breakfast buffet, quick polite check in and out. Unfortunately our car was broken into but the hotel staff was very helpful with video camera footage and other stuff.

Perfect for my needs with a fairly long stay. Breakfast buffet, easy walking to several restaurants. Room has fridge, freezer and microwave, as well as a tub and shower. A happy repeat customer, thanks to the attentive staff.

Hotel was cool rooms were clean, bathroom and shower were nice. The front desk staff were cool and kind (I got there after 10pm). If there is an off chance I am in Sacramento again I would definitely stay here. Close to restaurants and shopping.

Very clean and remolded. Very cheap when I booked for 3 days. Comfortable bed and very secure property. You need to key to access everywhere which is nice. The front desk staff and housekeeping was awesome.

Well, to begin..... My last visit here was very anxiety driven and I was unable to enjoy the gym. There was a lot of activity going on in the parking lot and it gave me a very easy feeling so I left early. This time around I was very hesitant on coming back but was convinced by a good friend and had a completely different experience then I did last year. The security guard was a complete gentleman, very accommodating, and made me feel very comfortable. Ernesto escorted me to my vehicle a couple of times and I felt very comfortable in the gym. A lot of the riff Raff or actually all of the riff Raff have been cut to zero and it's very much more accommodating experience. I offered the security guard a $20 tip and he refused to take it saying that he was just doing his job. I am so glad this hotel has security now, and I most definitely will be returning.

The hotel was a little on the older side but it was kept very clean and it felt very homey. It was quiet all day long so it felt fairly relaxing. The rooms were spacious and kept very clean. Front office staff was very kind and helpful. Security guard was present at night which felt comforting due to the hotel being in Arden. Breakfast had a lot of options and the food was pretty tasty! Always found parking no matter what time of day/night. Can’t say enough good things about this hotel! As mentioned, it was in Arden which is not the ideal location but it still felt very safe.

Me , and my husband stayed at this hotel Monday and Tuesday. I loved it, and didn't want to leave. They served breakfast, and it was delicious. The first morning I ate egg white omelette, potatoes, and sausage. The second morning I ate waffles bacon, eggs with fruit on the side, and coffee . The staff was amazing. The room was very clean, and beautiful. The bed was so comfortable . Whenever I visit Sacramento again, I most definitely will be staying here again 🥰.
