One of my favorite restaurants in Arlington Heights. Black widow sushi roll is a must try.

Okay, first off, the atmosphere is sexy, chic and really nice. Toss a nice outfit on and enjoy an evening out. Cocktail to try: Pear Martini or Sakitini. Apps to try: Salmon Carpaccio (to die for), and Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice. Due to COVID, they took some dishes off the menu, like the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. That app was my absolute favorite. But, they have plenty of other delicious items. For Maki Rolls, get the Niku Niku. I am drooling, just thinking about it! If you love sashimi, definitely get the Chef's choice- Kaze. You get 10 pieces of assorted fish, perfect to share. Prices aren't cheap, but you are paying for quality and the experience. Treat yourself and go try it out!

We had a date night at Shakou yesterday Atmosphere is spectacular. Food is good. A little pricey but it worth it. We got: - Black Widow roll (scallop roll comes with a black rice) $22 - Lobster roll (serving is beautiful) - $26 - glass of the white wine Overall: would highly recommend going here for an occasion not for take out.

Never had sushi in my life until my wife brought me here. I'm now hooked on sushi. I'm very picky and didn't know what to expect. From the flavors and texture and sight, I liked everything. From spicy to mild, there's a taste for everyone. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff, it's enjoyable to sit and have drinks and a great food. This is my go to place.

I was drawn in by the atmosphere and promise of some solid Japanese food but found myself disappointed with the latter. The vegetables were large soft chunks, not in a good way. The bulgogi appetizer was just lacking in flavor and the same could be said about my "urban heat" roll. This place looked great but fell flat.

It was delicious and nice to sit outside. But everything was prepared and served for a very long time. The waiter forgot the order or the details of the order several times. But the place is pleasant in its atmosphere, especially in the evening when the lanterns on the trees are lit.

We went here with a gift card we received as a gift. The food was excellent. The prices were to be expected given the location, etc. It took just a few minutes than I expected to receive our food. When it did come it was delicious. My only complaint was how loud the music was. Other than that it was an enjoyable dinner.

Came here for my birthday, everything was excellent. Definitely coming back. There's food options for people at every price point. My wife dislikes sushi, but still found dishes she liked.

Never disappoints! I love requesting black rice on my rolls, so tasty. If you haven't gone on the weekend, be wary how busy and loud it gets. It's more club like and it's hard to hear each other at your table.

Incredible food, friendly service and a very well run business. Sushi is possibly the best in the Chicagoland area. The rest of the menu is outstanding! Shout-out goes to Sal, an outstanding waiter! Definitely a must try!

My only dislike is the music is too loud to have a conversation, but if that is the atmosphere you are going for it’s great. Sushi and service is great and dining outside with the little trees lit up is super cute! We got 4 sushi rolls and all were great but one was just meh. It was the one we’re it was steak mixed with spicy tuna, but I’m still glad I tried something new.

Too loud inside for a conversation so we sat outside on a beautiful late October night. Service was a bit slower, but server was generally attentive. I ordered Thai chicken lettuce wraps but utensils for assembling a wrap were inadequate and more cherry tomatoes(?) than too dry chicken made it more like a salad. My friends greatly enjoyed their orders of bowls of something. I later ordered an eel cucumber roll that was well presented and tasty.

I heard mixed reviews about Shakou in the past. Had a gift card for here so thought I'd try it out with my husband since we both love sushi. We both had the miso soup for an appetizer which was standard miso, nothing special but still good. I had the salmon and avocado roll and the Black Widow roll - and WOW the Black Widow roll was one of the best rolls I've had in a long time. The black rice gave it such a interesting but awesome texture and the little sauteed scallops on top were a wonderful touch. Will definitely be returning here again!

Great place. The food and drinks were delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Nice interior and design.

Came last night for the first time and had a great experience. Our server was very sweet and food was delicious. Excellent pear martini!! Black widow roll is excellent and the sashimi was fresh. Would recommend spicy tuna on crispy rice for the app - only critique of that would be to make it a little crispier so easier to handle (kept falling apart). Due to millennial club music playing, wouldn’t recommend for families as much or for those hard of hearing lol. Overall would highly recommend for a date night!

If you're looking for a really good food, nice atmosphere, really good service and don't want to break the bank, Shakou is a great place. TT's Value rating = 4 out of 5

My wife and I went to shakou for Easter dinner. Had a wonderful time! Great environment, terrific food and our waitress was outstanding. This is a fantastic place to have a great drink and delicious food, not to mention the and customer services was a cut above the rest. As soon as we enter the restaurant, the hostesses were fantastic... welcoming, smiling and inviting. What made the evening even better was our waitress, Nattaya. She was terrific, very professional, provided great recommendations for food and provided outstanding customer service. We will definitely be going back, as well as bringing our friends.

Cute place, good food, yummy cocktails, and very nice overall. I definitely recommend the Blackberry Mojito over the Japanese Mule as the mule is a bit tart but still good regardless. The Pink Panther roll was delicious. I absolutely loved it. Great place for a quick bite or even well enough for a cute date! I highly recommend checking it out

The food is very expensive and the large menu can be very daunting. We had a reservation for a table but they gave us a high top, and when we asked for a table they put us next to the bathrooms. It was an awkward location and I would have preferred sitting in an aisle where everyone walked past us. I had the sweet and chili chicken katsu which was average but not the best.

Located at the heart of Downtown Arlington heights, Shakou is in a very lively location. The food was excellent, starting with the Egg Rolls, the Sushi and the beef/rice entree, were all excellent.
