There are three different things to see at this point: The museum, the castle and a restaurant with an interesting view, which can be entered without visiting the museum. The exhibits are mostly from the 70s and are regional works of art, for example by César Manrique, Fernando Zóbel or Antoni Tápeis. Other works from the 20th century can also be seen, but mostly sculpture and painting. There were also booth 12/22 two installations by contemporary artists, of which I highly recommend "Los Ojos Bajo la Sombra" by Tania Candiani as part of the XI Bienal de Arte de Lanzarote. It is about the importance of the scale insect cochineal, from which red pigment is extracted. UNFORTUNATELY - intentionally in capital letters - there are (very brief) object descriptions in Spanish only. Moreover, there is no museum guide to buy, no papers to borrow - simply NOTHING. Neither regarding the exhibits, nor with information about the Castille de San Jose. Nada. In my opinion, it is unacceptable that a city that lives from tourism (and even if not) is so indifferent to its own art. Really a pity. They are treasures that can not be tapped. On our Instagram account @arrecife_visit we always compile historical information with the appropriate images. Maybe you will find something there. The restaurant last has a panoramic view of the Indian harbor and the huge cruise ships that anchor there. Madness, how tiny, the whole castle looks against these ships in the background. In the restaurant you can also find other works of art - fortunately protected behind glass. The style, by the way, is also borrowed from the 70s. Personally, I think it's very chic.

Beautiful, beautiful place!! Lovely adaptation of a fort into a museum. Amazing restaurant downstairs, with the most beautiful view. (haber tried their food though, but they have local draft beer on tap!!) The service at the desk was outstanding. The man was very welcoming and explained everything to me. Such a lovely gentleman. The roof top is also formidable! Unfortunately it's not a huge museum, but well worth the 4 euros. Do go see it. Parking is free. If you are not in to art, go for the views and the restaurant /bar.

Interesting place to visit in Arrecife. It is quite small for a museum, but it is worth the 5 € small entrance fee. You can see some local art and visit part of the fort. It also features a nice coffee shop in the lower level.

This is a beautiful small fort, and inside is both the (mini) museum and a Café/restaurant. The original architecture is impressive and the intervention by no other than César Manrique is as usual a nice take on traditional and modern (70's) interior design. The art selection is very small and mainly of local artists and works from the 70's. It consists of 3-4 rooms. The entrance fee is fair at 4€ The Café has a beautiful space and original furniture from the space era design, but unfortunately it's not at it's prime, I suggest you don't go over a cup of coffee or such...

The museum has a pretty good restaurant with an overview on the ground level. You can have a seat and enjoy drinking one of the famous local wines. Highly recommended Lanzarote Muscatel Grand Reserve. 4.5€ one portion. That's all about it.

Great use of the fort as an art gallery. So, both the fort to look around while enjoying the art works. Good views from the battlements. And loos with a view. Bar area to enjoy a coffee or something stronger. You could spend about 1 hour. €4 entry.

Lovely Fort with character, loads of parking spaces in front of the building. There is an entry fee, there is a restaurant at the bottom, you can go to the top of the building for a panoramic view and also the bottom. Mostly exhibitions, art work and the character of the building. I'll recommend a visit to this place, checkout my awesome pictures

Fun little museum, some of the pieces reminded me of the art style of Dali. Don't forget to find the still functioning draw bridge mechaninsm from the roof. Also has a nice restaurant. Worth the €4

Contemporary art pieces exhibition but the fortress alone deserves a visit. Plan with time for a snack in the restaurant

The museum is nice for a quick visit of modern art with pieces of César Manrique. Nice view from the roof top. The restaurant is has great food, good service and was also from the hand of Manriqué.

Nice, cosy museum. Don't expect MoMA here - it's just the right size for this small island. The Castello itself is quite nice too.

A quiet place, very friendly service and the opportunity to admire the art in peace. I'm glad that I could watch the works for a long time, no one rushed me.

This museum is nice but very small. The castillo is an historic building which is worth a visit, though. It has been restored and also hosts a bar and restaurant.

The castle is amazing. The decors are fabulous, but the art was not on my taste. The contrast between grey, white and wood it's beautifull.

A small museum with a lot to offer. Modern art + coffee (or a meal) with a view on the harbour. One of my favourite places....

Lovely looking building with an intriguing aesthetic. The view outside is great too.

Lovely small gallery with some interesting paintings and sculptures. Currently has one Manrique painting. Bonus points for attached plush restaurant with sea views and another for windy rooftop fort views of sea and container ships.

Very small museum in the port of Arrecife. Some nice art pieces and view from the top but not worth the 4€.

Small, but relatively cheap. Exhibits are OK if you like modern art. Claimed to have a Tracy Emin on display, but didn't see it. There is also a large restaurant (didn't try it). It's just out of Arrecife on the Costa Teguise road but only about a mile from the centre.

I usually love the Museum but we parked, paid for out tickets, and after a brief walk we settled in to get a drink in the cafe where we were asked if we had come by car and parked outside? We had. We were informed the road outside would soon close for an event and wouldn't reopen until 5pm (7 hours later). So, within 15mins we had to leave to find alternate parking well away from the venue. Had we been told at the ticket window we would have come back at a different time. A shame.

Nice to visit but don't expect too much. It is small and there are just a few rooms to walk about. The view of the harbour from the restaurant/cafe is stunning. We were here on a bank holiday, nothing happened on the docks; perhaps a weekday would give you some more things to look at.

The restaurant below the art gallery, was very nice, wonderful atmosphere, great food, highly recommended. We had a stunning view of sunset..very romantic 🌅 Ticket was included in our 6 visit spots in Lanzarote. No regrets for coming after long day... Beautiful, calm, relaxing..

Amazing little museum. This time Lasso's delicate and brilliant sculptures were on display. The 3 stars is due to the restaurant experience which was a total disappointment this time: unattentive service, this time the tataki was almost inedible and the amount of veggies ridiculous, no proper wine bottles, we were suggested as an alternative to Grifo or Bermejo an awful wine Guiguan. We managed 2 sips with and without food and gave up immediately. The staff was professional enough to not charge us the bottle, but we left the money for it anyway. The salad and the amuse-bouche were delicious.

Went to the art show in this fantastic building. Some amazing artwork on display in a place clearly (the cafe at least) guided by cesar manrique. Beautiful.

Took a taxi ride out from Arrecife.(€6) €4 entry per adult. Nice collection of art and sculptures. We found it was something interesting to do for a few hours.
