Bed was rock hard, like laying on a table. Pillows went completely flat. Got one hour's sleep. No soundproofing, could hear next door chatting until the early hours. Boiling room, fan welcome, but very noisy. Staff very pleasant but waitress at dinner plonked the meal down with no cutlery. After being asked for cutlery this was provided but we asked for serviettes and never saw her again. Meal however was good. Tip -order and pay at the bar, 12.5% service.charge not added on. Beautiful building and grounds but clearly lots of maintenance required. Bar frequented by effing and jeffing blokes, lovely! Wouldn't stay again, mainly for the awfulness of the bed (twin 4ft beds in the room). Also about 5 serviceable TV channels, useless.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at this hotel. The exterior certainly looks like it needs some work. However, the rooms were very good and we enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast both were excellent. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the golf - well the front 9 - the back 9 was certainly very difficult. Would recommend this hotel.

This is a friendly, well located hotel that is a good stop-over and great for families or groups. Bright and spacious corridors/reception rooms and good facilities on the whole. Comfortable and clean rooms, welcoming reception (even when I checked in at midnight after a delayed flight). I had a very passable breakfast which was sadly hampered by an obvious absence of staff to replenish the buffet food, set out more glasses etc and slow clearing of dirty tables. This may have been a one-off but left a sad impression. Parking was easy and close to the main entrance, the garden, grounds and outdoor pool all looked inviting despite some essential building works taking place in the grounds. My room was clean with crisp sheets and a comfy bed, huge TV and clean ensuite with bath and shower. Some aspects of the room presented as a little 'tired' but all were clean and perfectly acceptable. Delicious shortbread with the in-room tea/coffee facility was a much appreciated bonus. This was a repeat visit and I would happily return to the Avisford Park Hotel again.

Overall, itā€™s a nice hotel with good facilities such as the swimming pool, sauna, dining experience and bar. The breakfast was nice too. However, they stop serving food by 9:15pm which was unfortunate. Luckily, they allowed me and my family to order Uber Eats and bring food in and eat it in the dining area. One of their young dining staff called Eddie was so helpful and showed amazing customer service and even brought us some plates and cutlery so we can eat it. The rooms are extremely dated and could do with a makeover. When you walk through the corridor to your room, you suddenly feel like youā€™ve arrived in a Time Machine and landed in 1985! The rooms including the bathroom are very old fashioned and not very clean. We found dust and cobwebs and the carpets were old and stained which gave off a bit of a bad smell. No air conditioning, so instead they give you noisy fans you can plug in instead. Overall, itā€™s ok. But donā€™t go if like me and my family, you like a contemporary and clean hotel room.

Amazing hotel, the rooms are a little dated but for the price itā€™s a bargain, swimming pool, small gym, sauna and steam room. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic, they have dog friendly rooms which was great for us. Breakfast was a little unorganised but still tasted great, canā€™t wait to stay again

We stayed here while attending a wedding locally. We arranged early check-in and the receptions staff on arrival were very helpful. Bar staff were polite and efficient and the bar remains available late for residents. There is no separate air conditioning in the room so we kept the second floor window slightly open and as such the room was a little noisy due to mowing the adjacent golf course or grounds at 0600. Other than that all was good.

Large hotel with good sized rooms set in beautiful grounds, overall, in need of a bit of a makeover. Because the hotel is so large, you have to be prepared to walk a long way to the core of the hotel. However the management,Richard in particular, and staff provide excellent friendly service and tremendous added value. We attended a 50th Wedding Anniversary Richard made the whole event fun . The food was well cooked and nicely presented and served.

Great weekend and party. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food good and well cooked but limited menu for our evening meal. Room and hotel clean. Lovely location.

Needs a lot of doing up! The deluxe room was very tired, the bathroom was dirty. There were big water marks on the ceiling of the main room. Breakfast was horrific!. There was no cooked breakfast, apparently the ovens had broken! . The continental option was awful. All the coffee machines had broken. Total lack of organisation. I wish we hadn't included breakfast in our package as we didn't eat anything! There is no room service. We expected more for a Hilton. Wouldn't recommend and won't be returning ā˜¹ļøā˜¹ļøā˜¹ļø

I attended the wake of a much loved colleague' funeral in the restaurant, on Monday 31st of July. Delicious food, well organized and attentive staff, especially 'Eddie' whose cheerful and engaging smile, never wavered despite the queue for tea and coffee. He is a fine young man and I hope the restaurant manager appreciates him, and all the staff who were kept busy, while maintaining a high standard of professional conduct. Well done!

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights, the staff are friendly however the hotel it self needs a lot of TLC itā€™s very outdated and dirty. The drainage is awful and when showering the bath would fill up. We had mould on our bed sheets. Someone walked into our room 2 hours before we had to check out. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The pool was closed due to cleaning however this should be done early evening through the night. I was also charged for 2 drinks and food is way overpriced paying Ā£9 for a sandwich which was awful tasteless and definitely not worth Ā£9.

This is a very very tired hotel. The whole building needs a lot of investment. The rooms were very small and smelt damp. The reception staff didn't really know what was going on. Swimming pool needs redoing and making safe, the sauna and steam room weren't working. Parking is very tight, seems the spaces are very small for modern cars, no large signs for an over flow. Buffet breakfast was good and friendly staff there. This was a lot of money for one nights stay and we left very disappointed.

We needed a last minute a pit stop the night before before a training day and we were really happy! Lovely food in the restaurant, lovely grounds - Eddie looked after us well for our evening meal! Would happily return - very dog friendly too! šŸ¾ staff were super friendly and kind agree that the outer building just looks tired really and could do with a paint! It would make all the difference! The staff were lovely but also stretched- I usually see more service staff available when staying in hotels and I felt bad for them

Just got back today from this hotel as part of a coach company and all I can say about this hotel is absolutely shocking, The rooms looked tired and needed an overhaul, The evening meal was a disaster on Sunday night at 7pm we sat down and waited 45 minutes for each course, had an apology from the manger who said it will be better rest of the week, Monday and Tuesday went by fine and Wednesday night evening meal was non existent 24 passengers on the coach and only 16 evening meal appeared the 8 that we missing turned up 45 minutes after we had our evening meal. In the end we all got frustrated with the manger's excuses and how can you get 24 passengers meals all so wrong? I will definitely not be returning to this hotel and I will not recommend it to friends and family.

Stopped off for a couple of nights on our way home from Bognor, looking at the reviews, we were slightly dubious, however it was the price that tempted us, after all, we were only looking for a bed for a few nights. We were more than pleasantly surprised, the hotel is enormous, architecturally quite pleasant, we were welcomed cordially, at reception, our room was most acceptable, the grounds were very well kept, couldn't fault the place. Bottom line, would definitely stay again, top marks

Lovely hotel, needs a little TLC on the inside and outside, our room though was lovely, the indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room were lovely, more organisation is needed for evening meal dining service, we had 4 people waiting our table at one point!!! There were staff running around and others who seemed not to be bothered to help, even serving a few people at the busy bar to help out, I offered to buy a drink for a lovely member of the team as she was working so hard, in my opinion as lovely as our stay was more organisation is needed for a smoother running of the bar and restaurant side of things,

Hi, we have just had an amazing celebration event at the Avisford Park Hotel. it was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were brilliant, including Emily, who was so thorough in the detail! Everything was set up ready to go when i asked for. they could not do enough. the service and food was lovely and the grand hall looked stunning. We were so pleased! thank you so much- we will be back!!

Booked room only for one night, our rooms (one family and one double) were great with everything we needed. Did use the hotel bar, which was good, but not any of the other hotel facilities. The surrounding area is fantastic and we were able to go for a great walk to a great local cafe and village store. Ideal for a short weekend break.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience and stay. We held a celebration event at the weekend and the staff went above and beyond to make the event a huge success. All of the preparation to get the tables perfect, with the cutlery, glasses, mocktails on arrival, any help needed and they were there. I would also like to mention a key person, Emily, who is new as a manager and this was her first event to plan. THANK YOU. Honestly, you couldn't have been lovelier. Emily's communication was spot on, she's mega friendly and helpful and put us completely at ease. Nothing was ever an issue. THANK YOU. We will be back!!

Don't Bother..... Stayed as part of a two-day dinner dance event. The main common rooms and evening event was good, entertainment excellent. Staff did all they could being helpful, polite and as efficient as they could be, however it was plain they were short staffed. I had call weeks before the event to extend my stay by two more days and upgrade the room for all four days, which was agreed and paid for in advance. On arrival we were put into a basic room with no offer of a refund for the increased price I had prepaid. The room resembled a small very scruffy broom cupboard overlooking a noise kitchen extraction system and waste bins. Canā€™t imagine the room had any form of redecoration in many years. The photographs tell the story, in 40 odd years of hotels, this is simply the worst I have had to ever overnight in. We checked out after the event only staying two of the four nights.

We went for afternoon tea today for our 21st Wedding Anniversary. Our wedding reception was there too all those years ago! We were greeted by Richard who was so attentive. He really made our visit special. He even opened up the original room where our reception was, for us to have a look. The food and coffee was delicious. A really lovely afternoon.

The sample menu on the website comes across far nicer than the actual menu which is quite poor and overpriced pub grub. Breakfast was over booked so people had to stand and wait as all seating was taken. Couldn't wait for breakfast so Ended up leaving with a partial refund. A genuine shame, the rooms were lovely.

Excellent location but the hotel is very 'tiredā€™ and in need of heavy refurbishment. Staff very friendly with the exception of what appears to be the restaurant manager, a chap in his later 50's with glasses. Speaks to his staff with no respect and in front of customers, who he doesn't treat much better . He made no effort to assist his staff and seemed more comfortable telling them what he wanted done which they doing anyway. Certainly not a 'team playerā€™. Having worked a similar post to him I feel valid in making these comments. At breakfast ,as he thought we had finished eating,we were asked to to take our coffee and vacate dinning room as there was a queue forming .Incidently there wasā€™nt .

The hotel is very well situated and although a little tired inside, I understand the new owners are in the process of a complete refurbishment. The rooms however are clean and well presented but rooms could do with a coffee machine and telephones that work (I understand these are being replaced). The fridge in a room is a good idea and mine worked fine as well. The food however is good overall and the breakfasts excellent, although you have to wait to be seated at peak time (9am). There are a few staff issues mainly due to being understaffed but those who are their cope amazingly well and I have just had two events at the hotel which everybody thoroughly enjoyed and want to attend another if we hold it at the same location. I have to single out Richard Knight at our fist event who was an exceptional General Manager and on the second event Emily Lee a fine replacement for Richard who despite only being at the hotel two weeks was very professional and nothing was to much trouble for her. Once the hotel is refurbished and adequate staff hired this could be an outstanding hotel.

A lovely hotel. I stayed 3 nights and I'm so glad I chose this place. Nice food. Nice spa. Nice rooms. Just be aware no lift as far as I'm aware. Golf course and Tennis courts. A nice friendly country hotel.

Had our Works meeting and Christmas lunch here, food was lovely, Turkey and all the trimmings, wasn't too enamoured with the dessert. Staff were friendly, polite and very helpful!........ lovely surroundings and hotel looks lovely too.

Stayed here for a corporate Christmas do. The staff are friendly, if a little inexperienced , and the hotel is starting to look quite tired in places , but at Ā£59 for a room for the night it's excellent value for money. I'm not sure I would choose this hotel for a longer leisure break , but if you are looking for somewhere to stay just as a base to explore the area then this would be ideal. The food at the corporate dinner was surprisingly good and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. The room was spacious with a kettle, fridge, decent TV, comfy bed and a decent bathroom. Given I paid 5 times as much as this for a "country house hotel" down the road recently , I have to say this place is excellent value. They just need a few more experienced staff to make things run a little smoother.

Review written for grandparentsā€¦ We went to this hotel with Edwards Coaches. We were definitely treated differently from guests who had booked independently. On arrival at every other hotel we have been to, the suitcases have been taken to the rooms for us. In this hotel, this was not the case. We all had to take our own luggage and there was no lift. While my husband and I were able to get our luggage to the third floor, many people on Edwards holidays are elderly and struggled. The food served to Edwards guests was different to that of independently paying guests. We were seated in different areas and while they got waiter service we were left to get food from a second class standard buffet. There was not a lot of choice, if you didnā€™t like fish you would have been in trouble. At one point they ran out of food before all guests had been fed and had to cook some more. We ended up eating bigger lunches to avoid having to deal with the carnage of the buffet each evening. A lot of people complained (us included) as they had minimal hot water so had to complain on numerous occasions to try and get this fixed. The room key cards were barely working and we had to go back down the three flights of stairs to get this fixed twice. This happened to other guests also. Further, part of the attraction of this hotel is that it had an indoor swimming pool and spa facilities. On arrival we were informed that these facilities were under renovation so we could not use them which is disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is going on a coach tour. It was a real shame as we were looking forward to this trip and it really dampened our week.

Although the hotel is under going some renovation the staff are going out of their way to make your stay special. Great food although the menu is limited and lovely grounds. Well worth visiting ,the ground are nice to walk around and when both the indoor and outdoor pool are open it will be superb

Were on an overnight golf break and all staff starting with reception and including golf course were extremely pleasant, professional and helpful. Exterior needed a little tlc as expected because of the age of the building but loved the interior. Bed comfortable and food great. Photos on Website do not do the interior justice. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Very very very hot rooms. No air con. Fans provided but sound like jet engines so no help for sleeping. Stayed four years ago and had to be moved in the middle of the night due to heat so checked before we booked that the room was not excessively hot. It was a cool evening outside but room temp was in excess of 25Ā° most of the night and bathroom still 29Ā° at 6 in the morning. Booked for two nights but left very early after 1st night to get home and get some sleep. Had booked garden lodge room but tried to give us a standard room on check in when we questioned it we were told they have changed the names of rooms and we were now being upgraded to superior room which turned out to be, yep, a garden lodge room! Smell of damp everywhere you went. Staff were pretty helpful though and food was lovely.

I was supposed to only be staying a night at the hotel but caught COVID along the way and brought it with me. They were so accommodating in letting me stay an extra 2 nights until I felt better. The hotel was already overbooked (including my room) but they still managed to work things out. They were strict about COVID measures and were able to send food to my room directly. The staff were also extremely kind and sympathetic. I'll definitely be staying here again if I'm in the area.

Spoilt by very young, very noisy children running around the terrace at 10.30 at night (11th August). Feel the staff should have stepped in and spoken with the parents. Surely better to upset one selfish family than everyone else on the terrace!

Pleasant hotel conveniently located for Arundel and handy for Brighton. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The first room we were given had a faulty air conditioning unit and when this was raised with reception the team were enormously helpful. We were eventually moved to two rooms which well appointed, clean and inviting. Will look forward to visiting again.

This hotel is an old, slightly tired building BUT I loved the staff. They are welcoming, helpful, informative, friendly, chatty, thoughtful, and I'd definitely go again. It's so close to Arundel proper and the shops are great there. Suggest the Norfolk Tap of you like beer and gin, great pub. Thank you to new Avisford manager Andrew for being honest and human.

We stay every year for our anniversary and the staff are friendly and the breakfast is SO good! The grounds are beautiful and in a wonderful location. The hotel itself is in DESPERATE need of a proper refurbishment and a THOROUGH deep clean from top to toe. The rooms are not clean, they're tidied and hoovered etc, but not clean. Really kind of gross.

  • 4/5 Fred R. 1 year ago on Google
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Good dining room breakfast buffet was really good. Lots of things to do. Swimming pool, tennis, table tennis and Crockett. Part of the hotel is closed due to storm damage. Some parts of the building look a bit run down and could do with a refurb. In saying that we all had a great time including the grand kids.

What gem of a location in such a lovely part of this land. Great food, amazing staff and nice big rooms. I have to admit to having see a few scuff and blemishes but what would you expect to see in an old property. Had a dip in the outside pool between downpours and when the sun shines there it makes it worth it. There was a bit of a noisy party and the staff were so accommodating to let us sit in the restaurant out of the hubbub to enjoy our drinks in peace. Very thoughtful. Also we come from a place where no one talks to, or even acknowledges you, so to be greeted by lovely staff and even other guests was truly refreshing.

We have had a great stay, the rooms comfortable and functional. The pool area fantastic. Staff are really friendly and are always doing there upmost to ensure guests are looked after. Food really good. For what we paid value for money. After listening to a few customers here and the previous reviews I can only feel for the staff that I have witnessed being spoken to in such a rude manor. We all need to remember that hospitality are going through challenging times with recruitment. The staff that you are speaking to are people that are just trying to do there best! What happened to ā€˜be kindā€™ !

May 2022 - we had a large party booked in for the night before and the night of my wedding, including my bridal party and family. We all had excellent bar food and great value drinks the night before, then a lovely breakfast to get us ready for the big day. The staff were brilliant at accommodating all of our specific room requests in advance, providing a really welcoming but efficient bar service the night before and for looking after me and my guests on the morning of my wedding. Many thanks to all the staff, and particularly to Katie B who was so kind and helpful, and at a time when she was about to go on leave.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, rooms were nice, beds quite hard though could do with updating but comfortable and a nice size. Lovely breakfast included. Unfortunately we couldnt use the pool as it was closed but we made use of the table tennis and tennis courts. Overall a nice stay

Staff are helpful and friendly. Grounds are well-kept, but the building itself, rooms and facilities (such as the pools and changing rooms) are in desperate need of cleaning and maintenance. Not what we expected from the photos and hotels website/description. The location is pleasantly quiet and easy to find, but there aren't many pathways or safe routes to walk on the surrounding roads so be prepared to drive to nearby places even if they are within walking-distance.

  • 3/5 Mr B. 11 months ago on Google
Initial thought on arrival was that the building was badly in need of renovation, particularly the room windows. The grounds looked well kept. Visited for a birthday afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were well presented and tasty. The servers were friendly and helpful. Guests using the outside pool area visited the inside bar without wearing any top/shirt. This looked very out of place. People driving round the car park seem to ignore the signage so watch out.

Nice hotel and outside grounds. It is on the middle of know where but easy enough to find. Lots of parking, small gym but nice quiet pool. Drink and bar selection was decent , but we're a tad slow to serve. But didn't put off and would return.

This hotel is a bit dated and in need of some investment but is priced reasonably to compensate. My room was comfy with reasonable ensuite facilities. Buffet breakfast included in the price was a bonus. The bar was a bit expensive, but food cost reasonable. The hotel is set in nice grounds and has a health spa. There is also an adjacent golf course.

My elderly Mother and I stayed for the Easter weekend and we can't recommend this hotel enough. Brilliant service, wonderful food. The manager, Richard, is very attentive and has a wonderful singing voice. We were treated to some opera. Other shoutouts to Nathan (lovely hair) and Katie (beautiful and friendly). All the staff were so kind, warm and considerate. Brilliant hotel. Will definitely come again.

Stayed here for only one night and overall it was a pleasant experience. The room we had was a corner and was definitely larger than a standard room. The mini fridge was useful for keeping drinks cool and a large HD TV. The bed was comfy and clean. The only issue is that there is no air conditioning which I can see being an issue during the summer. Breakfast was a bit hectic and is one of the biggest areas to improve. Just need an extra staff member or two to help clean tables and make sure there is enough food. It just seemed that plates, cups and cutlery were missing and I had to ask for some. Vegetarian hot food options were almost non existent. Dinner was good and I cannot fault it at all. Food was very nice and service was excellent. I would recommend it.

We had a wonderful time at Avisford Park Hotel. The service was consistently 6 star, even when it was extremely busy. The food in the Cedar restaurant was lovely and children were well catered for and made to feel welcome. The location is beautiful and really handy for visiting nearby Arundel too. Superb stay.
