My friends and I stayed here for a one-night layover. It's a perfect place for a budget traveler on a short-term stay. I wouldn't stay here more than a couple nights as it's very minimal in the way of amenities and comfort (unless you don't feel you need that and just want a place to crash and aren't picky about bed comfort). But it's a quiet building, nice and helpful staff, and the cafe being open 24/7 is a nice bonus. They have a good, basic breakfast deal and the coffee is good! We also really loved the surrounding neighborhood, lots of cute shops and restaurants and less than 10 minutes walking from 2 train stations.

Pretty nice hotel for the price you pay. Things to keep in mind is that the bathrooms are communal but nevertheless its clean and well maintained. But the best thing are the staff. Very friendly and accommodating. Awesome service!!!! Thanks for making my stay in Tokyo worthwhile.

Got a room for my daughter and I for our mommy and me trip. At first I was a bit worried about what I had gotten myself into since it was filled with a younger crowd🤣but after the first day, I was so presently surprised by the staff and housekeeping. The younger crowd was also very respectful. I did no research on the location when booking and was so happy with it. It’s located in a cute smaller neighborhood with so much to see and do. We will definitely come back here whenever we are in Tokyo.

It was pretty good for 3 people at around 10000 yen. There’s one single bed and two bunk beds and there’s some space to put our luggage. The toilet and shower was clean. You can also leave your luggage easily at the storage room even after checking out. Only problem was that we were in room 301 (if i remember correctly) where we could not get working multiple keys and had to use a master key which was strange as it would be a security risk. So it was inconvenient to go out on your own as you basically have to take out the key inserted jn the room or have someone ready to open the door for you when coming back.

Nice place for no frills room and with a budget. Only downside is that there are no fridges or a microwave in the rooms so you can't keep drinks or food in your room. Also I don't know if it's with some rooms but first week we didn't have any tables in our rooms to put stuff like laptops on, but on a second stay we had tables. Nice that we get free breakfast of toast and soup in the hotel's cafe, but if you do want a bit more you can order from the kitchen and the prices are very cheap. They also have a big beer selection from around the world. Big plus I always enjoy from this group is that I can leave my luggage in their storage room free of charge if you plan to split your stay. That way you don't have to lug your luggage all over Japan.

About 10 minutes from Nippori Station, which is convenient to go to Ueno Station (Ameyoko), Akihabara, Asakusa and other central Tokyo places, yet stay in a quiet place.

Really bad hotel/hostel. Very dirty toilets, rooms smell awfully, walls and carpets are full of stains. After spending 3 weeks in clean and neat hotels all around Japan, Sakura hotel Nippori was a big disappointment especially considering how expensive it is! The location is very convenient and the stuff was friendly. Please avoid booking a room at Sakura Nippori and find another place in the area.

I really love this hotel. I stayed in the private tatami rooms. The staff were so helpful, even accommodating last minute bookings and changes. There is a coin laundry on site which helped a lot. The location is absolutely wonderful. It's a short walk to both subway and JR train lines, giving you plenty of ways to get around Tokyo. There's even an express train that goes straight to Narita airport. Convenience stores, cafes, bars, and restaurants are abundant in the immediate vicinity, and the surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful. Staying at this hotel was a highlight of my trip. I can't wait to return!

Great place for value. Average breakfast but the staff is amazing. If you like a Japanese style, this is the place you looking forward in Tokyo. Not too much far from Nippori JR station and have a bus station close to hotel, included a convenience store (30 m)

Sakura hotel has been a favorite of ours in Japan. Both the Ikebukuro and Nippori locations have been friendly, comfortable and accommodating. Their staff are to notch and work well with foreigners and locals alike. The rooms at the Nippori location are much larger than the Ikebukuro location and the cafe is part of the building so no walking across the street which is nice. The rooms we stayed in were Japanese style and the futons were already laid out when we arrived. Part of what we love about Sakura, is the atmosphere. It seems to be a favorite for tour groups so there's opportunity to meet some fellow travellers at the cafe.

(+) Nice place to stay. Room equipped with ac/heater. Many toilets and showers in every floor. Nice staffs. You can ask for room cards as many as people on your room. You can exchange coins in receptionist. (-) the place is quite far from any station especially from JR line. But you can go there by bus located 20 m near hotel. There are only cool water, hot water, and microwave to cook.

I had a "tatami" room for 2 nights. The communal bathroom and unisex shower room are kept very clean. I like the cafe - i use it to consume my take home food and enjoy their beer selections from all over the world. I can get something to eat athe cafe as late as 11:00p every day. The cafe provides hot water but no microwave oven. Breakfast included my my res at the hotel is basic PBJ, coffee/tea + simple soap unless i purchase some sides at the cafe. The Sendagi metro station on the C-line is closest to this hotel. However, the Nippori JR/Keisei station is most convenient as I can get to it directly from the airports. Google map instructed me to drag my bags from the Nippori station down the famous Yuyake Dandan, a flight of famous stairs - not fun when I had heavy luggages. I can avoid this set of stairs by walking down a road to the left of this path that leads to the stairs. I had purchased the metro day pass and requested for in-room slippers at the reception. There is a currency exchange machine located at the front desk. All in all, i would return to stay at this hotel. I like its atmosphere, the surrounding shops/areas for exploration, and that i am able to get away from the crowds/craziness at the end of a day of sightseeing in Tokyo.

This budget hotel chain has an excellent reputation for having great value for money and this particular branch is no exception. It has all of the essentials while displaying a unique charm that welcomes foreigners from around the world. Staff were nice and can communicate well in English. They were even nice enough to let us use the luggage storage after we checked out so that we could do some last minute shopping. But what really sets this place apart from other budget hotels is that it is located in a great area full of delicious food, unique shops, and local art galleries where one could spend their entire day exploring the vicinity of the hotel. Highlights include Yadorigi Cafe, one of the best animal cafes imo, Kanekichien, a tea shop with a rich selection of teas and teaware, and Higure, an eccentric gallery with a rooftop camel statue. It is also a 5 min walk from the Sendagi Station and a 10 min walk from Nippori Station, so we were able to go to anywhere in Tokyo with ease. The only points I would take away from this hotel is that the air conditioner is not that effective in heating up the room and a lot of the air vents in the rooms and bathrooms as well as the lint catcher in the dryers have sustained years of buildup and looks quite disgusting. Though I still recommend this place if you intend to explore and shop around the vicinity, Nippori, Ueno, and other nearby areas.

We loved our stay. It was near 2 JR stations, so that was very accessible to us. The neighborhood gave us an old Japanese vibe, away from the hustle and bustle of the usual Tokyo that we know.

Just enough for travelers who are on a budget. Best for small groups. Location was really good in terms of buying affordable goods and foods. But location to JR will take you 15mins walk as the road to station is uphill, while going to Subway (Nippori Station.) was just at 10-12mins walk in a flat road. Great service from Daisuke and his staff. They speak and understand English well. Rooms tho are a bit small especially for week-long traveling tourists. But the room is bigger than Apa Hotel (a budget travel hotel in Japan).

I went there with friends and being honest is super nice: people are nice, food is good... And the language exchange they have also. Super interesting.

Place is near 5 minutes away from the MRT station, around 10 minutes walk to the train station. Some convenient stores around. This hotel very cheap with breakfast included ( toast and soup, coffee or tea.

Great room, long beds. Clean public washrooms. Even though the stay was short, it was an excellent location close to public transport.

For Japanese people, have a conversation with abroad porsons. In addition, they can take an experience of abroad meals and to stay in like-abroad-country-passenger-hotel.

Went here for the cafe when strolling around Yanaka street. Foods are delicious, portion is good that it is not too small or too big. It fills your stomach but still give room for small food sold on yanaka street. Do come here for a relaxing meal.

Nice staff, nice room, and good food available in the lobby. I recommend the fish and chips. However they blocked all charging outlets except 1 in the lobby. Which is inconvenient

I love the rooms here. Have not slept so well since I was a child. Mattress on tatami floor is the way to go. Very kind staff and an excellent atmosphere. All I would suggest is a reading lamp in the rooms (although they dug out a torch for me) and maybe a veggie substitute for the soup at breakfast. Sad to leave.

Very good location, in a nice and calm district of Tokyo. Good service, poor breakfast, very reasonable price and a small park just in front of the hotel, perfect for our children!

This is one of the best shared-type accommodations I ever lived in. Bathrooms and restrooms are shared, but everything is very clean and convenient to use. Bathtubs are isolated and have shampoo, shower gel and hair conditioner inside. There's also a hair dryer. One can take slippers, teeth-care set and a shaver at the reception. Hot and cold drinking water is also available for free. Fresh towels as many times a day as you wish. The location is awesome - very quiet place with small bazaar from 16 to 20, JR and Subway stations within 8-10 minutes, 7/11 right around the corner. Very close to center! Yamanote line is super convenient to go to mount Fuji and to Tokyo station. Ryokan room was very cozy, we slept like babies, room is completely noise-free. Garbage is taken away every day. The staff is very nice, they even allowed us to take shower after check-out, when we came for our luggage in the evening. I strongly recommend this place!

Staying at Sakura Hotel was the best decision I made for my 3rd Japan visit & 1st solo travel 🙂 •The hotel is 5-10mins away from Sendagi Sta (subway) and JR Nippori Sta and transportation to and from Narita Airport through the Skyliner is so convenient! •The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood 🙃 •Free breakfast of toast, jam, coffee/tea, and soup starts as early as 5AM, so if you’re leaving the hotel early for, say a day trip outside Tokyo, you can still save on food. •The cafe serves great tasting food! Tried their Yomada Curry, Fish & Chips, Mango & Almond shake, and Green Smoothie. Will recommend it to my friends 🙂

I was extremely disappointed with our stay here. The bathroom was very dirty. The walls were filthy. We paid for a private room. It was all tatami mat with barely any room for standing. The walls were also marked in our room. It was located in a gloomy neighborhood. Underwhelmed to say the least. We let reception know we were disappointed at the level of cleanliness and there were no accommodations made. I don’t usually right reviews but I wish I would have seen an honest review on this page so we wouldn’t have stayed there.

Kindest staff I've met in Japan! Clean rooms, fast WiFi. And always someone present (not so common after covid fears), which was useful to me because I locked myself out twice 😅 once while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Free breakfast and coffee for 6 hours in the morning!! And Ken (staff) turned out to be a national ex-champion Street fighter/tekken..

Decent place to stay over in Tokyo in this neighborhood. Close to Nippori station to go to airport. Busy neighborhood with a different vibe from the classical neighborhood of Tokyo. Best suitable for solo or young group travelers with dorm like facility and setup. Restaurant and cafe at the hotel opens 24h, which is a rare find in Japan. Breakfast is included which started from 5am in case you have to catch an early flight.

  • 5/5 Herb B. 1 year ago on Google
Great location close to the station. Very helpful friendly English speaking staff. We got in after a 14 hour flight for our first time in Japan and they immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. They have a 24hour cafe which has delicious complimentary breakfast and you can order other food items and drinks at a cost. Coin laundry right next door. Rooms are clean and quiet but pillows are a bit thin. We loved our stay at Sakura so much we came back to have our last meal in Japan before flying back home.
