This is a great place to come and unwind and have a drink. I love the fish and chips. Make sure you don't leave this place before trying some of their pies.

My girlfriend and I had reservations next door at rock n roll sushi and decided to go next door to your fine establishment for a cocktail while we waited and ended up enjoying the atmosphere and feel of the place so much that we decided to stay and have dinner as well. Very good food and nice menu! Drink specials and everything. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will be back. Thank you for a nice Saturday evening out.

The only AUTHENTIC BRITISH fare in Charlotte. Spot on. The biggest little pub you will ever love ❤ Full English breakfast, Scottish Eggs, Sheppard Pie..best fish & chips ever. Obnoxiously large serving sizes, but so good you cant stop eating. Attentive charming perfect staff. Chic modern immaculate atmosphere. A++++! Psst. & the gold line streetcar runs here FREE until January . This place is pure magic.

On a whim I searched for a British pub and luckily Big Ben popped up. Went for lunch figuring I would get fish and chips or something but was pleasantly surprised to see a British breakfast. Ordered some Scotch eggs, breakfast plate and my wife had the shrimp salad. Scotch egg was pretty good but it was literally one egg cut into 4 slices. For the price two eggs would be a better deal. The English breakfast was good. Had the correct items to make it a English breakfast. Beans were a little stale tasting but I can’t be to harsh about them. Wife said salad was a little over dressed. Would prefer dressing on the side to have ratio of her choice. Other than those small misses for us it was worth having and going again the next time we are in town. Bonus was one tv screen showing the F1 race. That would get an extra star from me.

I really wanted to LOVE Big Ben but it just fell short for me. We came after fasting for a blood draw all day and were famished and this was the closest place to the lab that also looked fun. The Good: it’s a pretty fun atmosphere to watch a game - especially more European sports like soccer or rugby. Lots of TVs above the bar. It’s also a chill place to just have a drink and they have a decent pour of Guinness. The Meh: the food was pretty average at best for me. I got fish and chips and the fish was super dry inside while the batter was very soggy. I didn’t get any of that lovely crunch fish and chips should have like the ones at Workman’s Friend or Ri Ra. The fries were also very bland. Our server was friendly enough but hard to get anything out of. I wanted more vinegar than what was on my plate but when I asked for vinegar she said “there’s some on your plate there” and walked away before I could finish my sentence. It was about 4:30 pm so it was before they got busy. Sigh. The Bad: nothing really I guess I’d probably come back to watch a game, have a drink, and maybe try some other food but there are other places I’d rather try/go back to first.

De-licious! A great English pub between CPCC and Novant Presbyterian hospital. The food was scrummy and our waitress made excellent recommendations. A definite must- do-again eatery. The bubble and squeak was out-of-this-world tasty!

Let me start with what was good. I visited during Queens Feast Restaurant Week. The food was quite delicious. I had a sausage roll for appetizer, Bangers and Mash for an entree and Trifle for dessert. I am not a fan of British food but that was unexpectedly delightful. The courses were quite plentiful as well. Now for the service. The restaurant was not filled, it was moderately occupied with several open tables. However it took almost an hour from seating to receive the appetizers. The remainder of the courses wasn't as lengthy. The server was quite hyper, unfocused and did not wear a mask during the height of Covid. The other servers did. She would lean over to talk directly into my face. This was observed at many of her tables. I asked for water which took a second reminder. She delivered it with part of her finger touching the ice inside of my glass. When I asked for a straw she grabbed an open one from the bar with her bare hands and deposited it into my glass. Needless to say I didn't drink that water, so unsanitary and reckless particularly during a pandemic. She was handling money and people with total disregard. I will not be returning. Although the food was very tasty, I cannot risk my health in this manner. Big Ben allowed this server to serve customers without a mask and with reckless abandonment for all to see. There is no telling what is taking place in the kitchen behind closed doors.

Dropped by for a quick bite while awaiting the birth of a grandchild at a nearby hospital. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Service was quick and bar tender was very attentive. I had the sliders. Amazing delicious. Nice sized portions. I warmed up with Irish coffee and a cup of Potato soup! Big chunks of potato and very flavorful. Atmosphere was not my favorite, but it was comfortable. The front bar area was busy and loud making it difficult for "aged" ears to hear well. If I am in the area, I will be back.

Great spot, enjoyed watching charlotte FC soccer there. Good drink variety and good food. I’ll definitely be back for the new menu they released. Saw tons of fish and chips go out as well as the Sheppard’s pie. Looks incredible.

So good! Loved the atmosphere and the $5 Bloody Mary was great! Went for Brunch but got the Haddock and Chips. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the prices weren't bad. And they fly the Portuguese flag!! I will definitely be back!

Lovely lil pub! Nice atmosphere, I love the decor, service is great, and the food is delicious! The fish and chips was so good, I feel like it's hard to find good fried fish nowadays. We also had the beef wellington, and I will say I'm slightly disappointed. I was definitely expecting something a lil more fancy from the name, cause it a very particular dish. The meat inside was more like stew meat, not super soft like filet is. It was also just meat and pastry, nothing in between to absorb some of the meat juices. All that said, it was still tasty just not what I'm expecting when I see wellington on the menu, even if it was fairly cheap. We split the Buffalo haddock and it was so goooood. Same with the Buffalo chicken dip, just a lil smaller of a portion than I was expecting. Maybe that was the restaurant week portion size though! Also also, a steal! Definitely recommend the restaurant week menu, its an amazing value for the price and extremely worth it. Have a beer with the money you save! Will definitely be returning with friends to try some $5 pints!

This is a great spot to watch futbol/soccer, this is only one of two bars in the Charlotte area that is a NFL's Eagles bar too. They have some drink specials. The wings were ok, the basket of fries was huge. The drinks were okay except one somehow got messed up and was like half green tea half margarita 🤣 shot 🤢. Bathrooms were clean. Servers and bartenders were very friendly.

The name should be "Big Ben's country music & sports bar" Antiseptic appearance, could have been warm and inviting but it's not. Smelled of cleaner at the bar which should have been wood rather than cold & stone like material. Understaffed for lunch crowd. Haddock as Buffalo bites? Yuck Artichoke & Crab dip? Bland Someone please show staff how to draw a proper Guinness. Might give this a 2nd try....nope can't do it. Poor lady serving all alone was tatted up made us think this was a biker bar. A bit more professional appearance would have brought a bigger tip

A British gem in the Queen City. The bangers hit the spot, the variety of Mules were just what I wanted. We really enjoyed the large wrap around bar and space in and around the bar. The staff was fast and friendly. Highly recommend for watching Eagles football! Good for date night or single mingling! Enjoy!

I’m English , I have lived in Charlotte for over 25 years. I have been to all the locations and think this one has lost a little bit of the Pub feel. The food is fantastic. Just what I need when I’m home sick. Service is excellent!! I’m a huge football fan and love that it includes all that part of my upbringing. The manager was good at the English football banter! I would have expected to see bar table and chairs… but will continue to support them and enjoy the food and football.

Service was good. Buffalo chicken & waffles was good. Not sure why they call it sliders. See picture. I guess it was served like a club. They had s large party do they were unable yo serve iced tea.

The drinks were good the server was friendly and attentive. The price was reasonable. I ordered the fish and chips. They were good but could been better. It needed more flavor. Properly seasoned fish does not need tartar sauce or cocktail sauce to make it taste good. I will try this restaurant again but order something different the next time.

I really wanted to give this a 5 star review bc the food we did order was great “dish & chips& the steak and mushroom pie” however that is not what I drove 45 minutes to eat. Wanted soup and bubbles and squeak, guess what they don’t even carry, yep both but it in The menu where I looked before I drove 45 minutes to go there. Then there was the ladies bathroom where at 10:45am was missing toilet paper out of the first stall, luckily that is where I was 🤣 glad no one was in the one beside me and I was able to reach my arm into the other one to get some. One sink had no soap but paper towels and the other had no paper towels and no soap. Really wish this place would get it together because it could Have been a great experience.

We were searching for something different and found this restaurant. Part of the problem may have been the fact we arrived late afternoon. It was nice for the fact the restaurant was empty and there was no wait. But the music was loud and it wasn't what we expected in a British style pub (pop music). The menu doesn't look big but there are a lot of choices. Many are traditional British fare, and admittedly sound the same (potatoes, steamed veggies, gravy). The chicken pot pie, steak and kidney pie and shepherds pie were all good. But service was lacking. While she was attentive at first, I never got a drink refill. She asked once when our food arrived if we needed anything. But for the most part, they were sitting, on their phones or talking. It was a little expensive, especially when you add beer to your meal. I might go back to give it one more shot, but I won't go out of my way.

Perfect spot to watch Premier League matches on weekend mornings. Fish and chips , and Shepherds pie were excellent. Mimosa and Bloody Mary drink specials. You may need reservations. We have been turned away for soccer games- all places were reserved in advance, bar stools too!

Suzie at Big Ben's Pub is an absolute gem! From having my drink ready the moment I walk in to her unwavering kindness, she goes above and beyond. Suzie's incredible work ethic is evident, and her efforts never go unnoticed. Even on my toughest days, she manages to bring a smile to my face, making the good days even better. Suzie's dedication to customer satisfaction truly amplifies the overall experience at Big Ben's. With such outstanding service, it's clear she deserves more shifts. Cheers to Suzie for being the heart and soul of the pub!

I am 8 months pregnant. I go to big bens all the time and order the chicken Alfredo . It usually comes out to be like $11.80. Yesterday i ordered the same thing i usually always get which is the chicken Alfredo no mushroom no tomatoes. I didn’t think to say shrimp because I’ve never got shrimp with food before and thought they just had a chicken Alfredo meal. Plus I’m not going to order something i have a shellfish allergy too. So i ask the waitress that works at bar which has the nastiest attitude for no reason i asked her i said why is it so much this time when i usually order it come out to like $11.80/$12. She slams the menu on the counter in front of me and points at the chicken and shrimp Alfredo meal and walks off. When she comped back i ask her was it special that day or Something for the “chicken” Alfredo because it’s never that high. She says no and then proceeds to bring me my food. I attend school around there so my lunch was very limited i didn’t check my food Until i got into the car. I open up my food and take two bites of the pasta i mixed it around realize that it is shrimp in my food. Immediately i felt my throat start itching. So i get out my car and race back to the restaurant. I tell the waitress they gave me the wrong order this is not what i ordered she snatched the food away and tosses away aggressively my friend and i look at each other like I’m okay . After that i just asked for my money back and when does the manager get here she tells me 2:00pm it’s was 12:47. As this is occurring i start feeling my throat closing and swelling i run outside because i can’t breathe and start throwing up . My friend brings me napkins and water to try and help but i couldn’t swallow. When i walk back into get my money the Manager is walking through the door i immediately go to speak to Him because we caught eye contact. I let him know what happens and he said as he was pulling up to the restaurant he saw me throwing up outside . He spoke with the waitress at the back and came back out and lets me know that he will handle everything because i shouldn’t have been treated this way especially with me being pregnant . Needless to say I ended up in the hospital because my throat started closing and i couldn’t breath they kept me overnight to monitor me because my condition was bad thank god my baby was okay but i would’ve waited any longer my baby would’ve started losing oxygen as well i don’t wish this on anyone because this was a very scary and traumatic experience!

Went yesterday after seeing the restaurant mentioned on a British FB page. We enjoyed the sausage rolls for our appetizer. We had the haddock and chips and steak and mushroom pie with mashed potatoes and gravy. The fish and the pie were very good. Apparently there used to be more selections of British food on the menu but have been removed. The manager was super nice and was an enjoyable lunch. Don’t get the stick toffee pudding for dessert!

Very nice pub atmosphere- plenty of seats and very clean. I had the fish and chips which was delicious along with a couple of woodford old fashions, also really good. I’m sure to visit again when I’m in the area.

The fish and chips was hot and delicious but I did find 2 bones in my fish. The tartar sauce was really good too. I love the copper color of the tables and chairs but found the metal chairs to be rather uncomfortable. The bar is gorgeous and huge and the place looked clean. Trying to find parking kinda sucks.

The newer location isn't as "charming" as the original location, but they did a great job with the updated menu, and the food was still delicious. I love all the futbol decor too. Nice location for pre-match food and drinks.
