Great local park and the lake is the perfect size to walk around. Great play structures for the kiddos. Very neat to see it full after so many years of low rainfall. So glad to have it in our awesome little city!

I enjoy writing so I felt like writing something I felt when I enjoyed my time here at the lake. As I sit on this stone bench, I felt ok here. The sun was setting and I watched people do “things” Being trapped at home brought a lot of pain.. So I came here after work. Watching family’s fish together, People communicating with/without masks. I saw people hanging out and smiling. And I felt like I’m ok. Being trapped at home is a personal choice, And now I’m here. At the lake watching birds. Watching the beautiful sky. Breathing this fresh air. We need to be out more, Don’t hold your self back.

A serene walk in the clouds.. Calm natured ducks & geese roam about the lakeside... Gentle breeze & warm sun make this park a piece of heaven. Definitely bring a lawn chair and pluck yourself a spot on lush green grass and listen to the wild selection of local birds singing in cadence.

Incredible beautiful recreation park. We have been there many times. The zoo is awesome. Variety of animals are available to visit. The paddle boat is available during Saturday, Sunday and Friday. Quite and friendly environment for family friends to enjoy their camping and fishing.

The new playground isn't bad, too many homeless people during daylight hours. The "lake" smells like you're being punished for having a nose. Check out the veteran memorial. The zoo is much cooler than it used to be.

Great place for the kids, it has a small zoo within the park with nice animals which we have not seen so close, they have meerkats, porcupine, tiger, reptiles, flamingos are very close, reindeer etc. Really loved the place, they have a playground as in a park with big small to big slides

Although ive almost never seen a maintenance person working here the place is always kept pretty well. I love taking my 3yo daughter here, I have many wonderful memories playing with her here or coloring together in the grass after a walk. It always feels safe and theres rarely any unsavory types lurking around, a problem many parks in the area suffer from. On Tuesdays the atascadero community marching band plays, they are always a treat. And the Saturday evenings in the park are never a disappointment. Its a fun family environment with exciting events and ample parking (if you dont mind a short walk). They do have bathrooms but they aren't the most inviting but at least they aren't portapotties or sketchy hobo hangouts. Over all I love this park, its been a huge part of my childhood growing up here and my daughters now too, I hope this park remains a staple of the area for years to come, its well worth a visit

Good park. Right next to the zoo. The lake is beautiful. The ducks are always quacking for some bread crumbs. There is one swing device (one of the plastic reclining swings) that is super creaky on the jungle gym but otherwise this place is great. They have a lakeside area available for kids' birthdays too.

Very clean, great bandstand, plenty of parking, staff on site, picnic tables are clean, well maintained, the lake is full, they have rental lake craft, and there are also bar B que pits for day use. It is next to a wildlife zoo and it is pet friendly !!

Great place for kids to run around n pass a soccer ball. Lots of people with their dogs on leash walking around the trails around the lake and altogether a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. We loved it.

Alvord Field is a gorgeous local Babe Ruth Baseball Field. It is well maintained, and the games are enjoyable. It is nestled at the corner of Atascadero Lake, near the park and zoo. There is so much to do at this park. It is well worth a visit. If you are fortunate enough to be here on a Saturday, then you are in for a real treat as you will have the opportunity to sit in on a Babe Ruth Baseball game. The players range in age from 12-15. Bring sunblock and a hat. It can get warm out there.

Many great features at this large shade and sun community park, including a beautiful Pavilion to hold community festivities, weddings, and private events overlooking the Lake/a small, fully accredited Charles Paddock Zoo/a ball field and a beautifully upgraded (with more play equipment) childrens' play area; several picnic/barbq areas, pathways, benches, and two rest room buildings, a covered grandstand and gazebo; a popular 1-mile pathway around the lake, with 2 exercise stations, a free library station with a table, doggy "pick up bags", benches, and tables, with people walking, jogging and bringing leashed dogs to exercise.

Absolutely beautiful here! My husband and I did a quick walk through and couldn't believe how big the park is. I will definitely be bringing my grandkids here next time they visit. They have large BBQ pits, paddle boats and kayaking. Great place for any celebration.

Quiet retreat sight from the triple digit weather to possibly 90's in the shade. Look for Tuesday night concerts and be sure to include a trip to the adorably well kept Charles Paddock Zoo within the Lake Park.

Pier looks like it needs to be replaced and the water level is low at the moment but otherwise nice area to take the family for a walk or host an outdoor event. Excellent play structures for children and great picnic areas with bbqs and other amenities.

Beautiful park to enjoy an afternoon walk or if the water level is high enough you can rent paddle boats to cruise the lake! Definitely a great place to enjoy some nature if you don't want to travel to far!

Beautiful park with lots to do for the whole family! You can walk/ jog around the whole perimeter of the lake, spend time fishing the lake, rent a kayak or bike from the little rental shack, kids can play in the playground, feed the ducks, have a picnic/ BBQ in the shade, enjoy a game of baseball at the baseball field, and even visit the Atascadero zoo which is located in this park.

😠 Bad place to bring small dogs! Walkers & park patrons tend to let they're big vicious Rottweilers & German Shephards run freely without a leash. I have had one small chihuahua mauled by one. The park itself is beautiful, but beware..
