The central park of Athens. It's so beautiful with trees from different world regions. A great place to chill after a long day at the Acropolis. The lake was under maintenance when we were there but the rest of the park is simply amazing. We wished we had more time to spend at the park as you can spend hours walking around it. It's also connecting to different regions of the city centers.

On all our days in Athens, this is where we spend the remaining hours before we head back to hotel. This park has everything. A pond, a kids playground - the reason why my son enjoyed Athens, and orange orchard everywhere. I never thought it was good but if you have kids, go bring them here.

Really beautiful place. We went here during the morning and it is the perfect place to start your day. Very relaxing and a lot of things to see! Make sure to bring some snacks as they have places where you can have a picnic. Also, the place is very close to the city center so very convenient!

(Translated by Google) It is located in the center of Athens, where in antiquity there was the Holy Grove of the Lyceum, dedicated to the god Apollo. It is the first park made in modern Greece and the first garden of the Capital. Probably my favourite place in Athens. Didn't have enough time and sadly 50% was in construction, yet you still can see amazing trees and plants all across the park. There needs to be more labels, but compared to other places I did not see many tourists here, so I understand why it's for locals mostly.

In the vibrant and energetic heart of Athens, a city pulsing with history and modernity, there lies an enclave of tranquility - the National Garden. Amidst the towering edifices of commerce and the ceaseless rhythm of urban life, this verdant haven offers a respite to the weary and solace to the soul-searching. The garden unfurls like a lush green tapestry, woven with myriad shades of nature. Towering trees, their canopies interlacing, stand as ancient sentinels, casting dappled shadows on the ground below. Their shade offers a cool embrace to visitors, shielding them from the fierce Mediterranean sun and creating a microclimate of breezy reprieve. The rustling of leaves, whispering age-old secrets, mingles with the distant hum of the city, creating a harmonious symphony of old and new. Meandering through this verdant expanse are gentle brooks, their babbling waters a soothing soundtrack to the contemplative ambience. These streams crisscross the garden, their silvery trails acting as liquid pathways guiding visitors on a journey of discovery and reflection. Nature's melody is amplified by the chorus of birds that have made the garden their abode. Their cheerful tweets and songs punctuate the stillness, adding a touch of vitality to the serene surroundings. Amidst the foliage, one can spot flashes of color - birds taking flight or perching, engaged in their daily ballet of survival and song. For families, the garden is more than just a nature retreat; it's a haven of joy. Sprinkled throughout are playgrounds, where the laughter of children resonates, their innocent play juxtaposed against the backdrop of timeless nature. These spaces of joy become arenas where memories are crafted, where city children connect with the earth and with each other. The National Garden of Athens is not just a park; it's a sanctuary. It embodies the spirit of coexistence - of history with modernity, of nature with urbanity, and of serenity with vivacity. In the midst of the relentless pace of city life, it stands as a gentle reminder of the healing power of nature and the importance of finding moments of quiet in our increasingly noisy world.

Not the biggest I’ve been in but they are really cute and have some amazingly tall specimen trees. The various statues are nice, the fishponds full of Koi Carp and the duckpond has its feathered residents enjoying human company. It had a park for kids but I didn’t see any Terrapins at the Terrapin Parthenon, but I may have missed it. All in all, it was an attractive place to visit. Would I recommend? Yes, for naturalists, garden lovers and families. Would I return? Next time I’m in Athens I will return and have a picnic there. Delightful

A beautiful place to go for a walk yet it's apparent that none cares about the animals' safety and well-being. For example, the water that those animals swim in is beyond dirty. Moreover, I saw many people feeding the animals even though there are signs that clearly state that this act is forbidden, they were also many children throwing rocks and other items at the animals or they would try to kick them and it's sad that their parents were close but they didn't stop them. Furthermore, even though there are bins around the park, people leave their trash on benches or drop them on the ground. With all that being said, I would suggest that the security of the park is enhanced so that such actions can be avoided in the future.

Enjoyable walk through a serene city park, observing many birds along the way. There are some enormous Monk Parakeet nests and they feed on the ground sometimes, so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Nice to walk through on your way to other sightseeing locations. There was a random animal zoo with various animals like goats and Geese, but more pigeons than anything else. Plenty of carob trees blooming with a very strong smell. Overall it's worth seeing once, not twice. At least it's free and provides plenty of shade on a sunny day.

If nature, animals and tranquility appeal to you then I’d recommend visiting here for respite from the city. There is a pond with a miniature waterfall and ducks and a smaller isolated pond for turtles - please be respectful of the animals! You can also sit on the grass and relax or find plenty of benches dotted around. There is even a canopy-style walkway to enjoy some shade or take photos as some people have done here.

(Translated by Google) You know the basics: The paving of Pikionis that leads our steps from the Acropolis to here, the Pnyx of our ancients, the Observatory from whose telescopes we gaze at the Attic sky, and the coulombs of the Municipality of Athens. Filopappos Gaios - Ioulios Antiochus (first century AD): High and ruler of Athens from Syria (grandson of the king of Syria Antiochus IV). He benefited Athens and was declared an Athenian citizen. In ancient times, the hill of Philopappos was called "Museum" (from the tomb of the poet Musaeus) or the hill of Muses because it was long dedicated to the muses. The National Garden in Athens, Greece, is a serene getaway from the city's hustle and bustle. It's a beautiful park, filled with varied greenery that makes you feel like you're in a tropical forest, not in the heart of Athens. As you walk along the cool, shaded pathways, you can smell the fresh pine and diverse flowers. The sound of birds singing and leaves rustling in the background create a calming natural soundtrack. Visiting the park, you forget you're in a city. The contrast between the cityscape and the lush park is startling. It's a welcome change from Athens' ancient structures and modern buildings. What's great about the National Garden is it offers a peaceful, natural experience right in the city. The walking paths are pleasant, and the park stays cool even in summer. It's a rich ecosystem within an urban setting. I strongly recommend a visit to the National Garden if you're in Athens. It's more than a city park; it's a unique opportunity to enjoy nature in an urban landscape.

It had beautiful scenery but no information provided about the area and its history since there were so many old trees. There are some governmental places over there that seems they are open to public, but they are not. It is a recommended place to spend some time in with your family, as a break during your visit of Athens, as it's close to old monuments.

During my stay in Athens, I had the pleasure of visiting the National Garden, and it was a true haven of tranquility amidst the bustling city. This park, also known as Ethnikós Kípos, showcases a stunning variety of plants and trees, many of which are exotic and unique. The meticulously maintained paths are perfect for strolling and wind through picturesque landscapes that invite relaxation and reflection. The serene ponds and fountains within the park create a peaceful atmosphere. It's remarkable how this garden hosts such diversity of flora and fauna in the heart of a busy metropolis. The shaded benches under large trees offer ideal spots for reading a book or simply enjoying nature. For families with children, the park also provides excellent facilities. There are playgrounds and ample space for kids to safely play and enjoy outdoor freedom. Animal lovers will appreciate the variety of bird species, and there's even a small zoo within the park. Overall, the National Garden is a beautiful, well-maintained park that offers a welcome break from the city's hustle and bustle. It's perfect for a relaxed afternoon, whether for a walk, a picnic, or just to unwind. I highly recommend a visit here for anyone who loves nature and seeks a peaceful spot in Athens.

A beautiful park in the middle of the city. A nice place to eat your lunch on a bench, read a book, paint or walk in the zen gardens, or attend to the pond and the ducks. The kids playground is exceptionally loud, need to walk far to avoid the noise. Perfectly connected on the hop on and off bus, strategically for tourists. There’s a lot of shade from the trees, which my guess makes it a popular place in summer when it’s boiling hot

Nice and cosy park near the city center. Suitable for walks with children. Despite of nearest main road, it’s calm and pleasant. Free zoo with birds, ponds with turtles. A lot of parrots and their nests on the trees. Some cats are walking around. Pathways look good and accurate.

Please check out the tortoises and turtles, it was the absolute highlight for me. So green and beautiful- the turtles and the garden. Happiest of surprises being that there’s not only one turtle pond but two! How good! 10/10 for botanic gardens, Athens has aced it.

(Translated by Google) If you are in the heart of Athens, there is no better place to relax than the National Botanical Garden. A real oasis right in the center of the Greek capital, behind the parliament building, will give you pleasant emotions in the canopy of ancient trees, to the chirping of exotic birds. The garden is located in the "Roman" part of the city, created during the reign of Emperor Hadrian, in ancient times on its territory there was an ancient sacred grove of the Lyceum. The garden was laid by the first queen of independent Greece, Amalia, wife of King Otto, and was originally called "Royal". The formation of the garden began in 1839 - 1840. the planting of 15,000 ornamental plants brought from Milan. Then the plants arrived from Europe and North Africa, and, of course, from different parts of Greece. In 1923, the garden with an area of more than 15 hectares became public property and was renamed the "National Garden". Today, a visitor to the Garden can wander along the shady paths or relax in a cozy gazebo or on the bench of the great philosopher, admire hundreds of species of immense giant trees, shrubs and other plants and some species of animals and birds, ponds with turtles and fish, traditional buildings, antique fragments ( mosaics of a Roman villa, marble architectural elements), sundials and busts of prominent Greek personalities. It also houses a children's library and a playground. Many of the trees still growing today are of the same age as the garden itself and, in fact, are “natural monuments”, so the National Garden can be safely called a green open-air museum. Very nice.

(Translated by Google) Its first name of the National Garden until 1974 was "Royal Garden". The park is located next to the Greek Parliament and extends to the south where the Zappeion Palace is located opposite the Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. The National Garden is 15.5 hectares. It is located in the center of Athens and, adding the garden of Zappeion with an area of 13 hectares, the park has an area of 28.5 hectares, ie a total of 285 acres. (Translated by Google) In ancient times part of the estate was the private garden of the philosopher and botanist Theophrastus, one of Aristotle's successors. The garden was a gift from Dimitrios Falireas to his teacher. There was also a sanctuary and a library. The royal garden was demarcated in 1836 by Friedrich von Gärtner, the architect of the palace, on an area of about 500 acres. Because this area blocked the Athens-Maroussi-Kifissia road, this plan was revised in 1839 by Hoch, chief engineer of the palace building. National Garden The 155-acre garden was planned by order of the queen as a scientific and botanical garden as well as a private one. In 1839, 15,000 ornamental plants were transported from Genoa, as well as native species, transported from Sounio and Evia. Queen Amalia's interest in the Garden was such that she is said to have spent at least three hours a day taking care of it personally. In the family of Amalia, the creation and maintenance of parks and gardens was a tradition.

The National Garden in Athens was under construction during our visit, so not much to see. Very little color in the garden, not many flowers but still a green shady space in the hot city. Worth a quick walk through.

I didn't have this garden in my plan during my visit to Athens, but once we went down from Acropolis the way back to our hotel we pass near the garden and decided to give it a visit, it was worth it, entrance is free, we spent 3-4 hours in garden making sure we visit every spot in it, it was really huge, we use the map as our guide! The garden is so clean, animals (turtles, ducks) are in some spots. We didn't have the chance to reach the Zappeion hall and garden because the lack of time. The garden was full of families, so make sure you bring your kids and enjoy it. I recommend everyone to visit the garden and enjoy the fresh and clean air here!

The Athens National Garden is nice to visit in the city because there is shade, sites to see, plants, flowers, and animals, and it's a nice place to walk, site, and relax. The baby turtles were really cute, and there were tons of birds and ducks. There are many different buildings, a playground, some ruins, and the block that this is one is only the same block as the Parliament building and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It's not too far from Olympic Stadium either. You could walk the trails in here for quite some times, and there are maps everywhere (in Greek, mostly), as well as entrances from each side of the block. This is a good way to enjoy part of a day, and very close to other sites and downtown Athens.

A nice place to go and reconnect a bit with nature. There’s a pond, a lake with geese, ducks, turtle, pigeons and a host of other animals. There’s also a birds and other animals collection such as rabbits, mountain goats etc. You can come along with your children, there’s a children’s playground, a children’s library, restrooms and benches every few meters apart to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden.

This is a wonderful quiet spot in the middle of Athens and very much an escape from the crowds. Many many trails all well groomed. Lots of things for children to see. Various animals & birds in full song, ponds full of fish. Excellent!

The National Garden, which is located between Syntagma Square and the Temple of Zeus, is a very big and beautiful park with lots of trees, beautiful flowers and areas to seat. Especially on hot days it’s a very nice place to take a stroll and cool down. There are many small places to explore, the pathways are kept in a very good and clean state. In general, the park is very clean compared to other parks we’ve seen in Athens.

The National Garden (formerly the Royal Garden) is a public park of 15.5 hectares in the center of Athens, on the north of Syntagma square, directly behind the Greek Parliament building and continues to the South to the area where the Zappeion is located, across from the Panathenaic Stadium (Kalimarmaro) The National Garden was created between 1838 and 1840 by order of Queen Amalia, the first queen of Greece It's a beautiful area to escape the noisy city center and relax in a beautiful green and quiet environment. There are many paths, wooden benches and small ponds in between. It hosts a small zoo with wild goats birds and other animals, a Botanical Museum, a children's library, a playground, and an open coffee shop It also encloses some ancient ruins, column drums and mosaics. There are three entrances: from Amalias Avenue, Vassilissis Sofias Avenue and from the Zappeion Megaron.

Wonderful public park in the heart of Athens, perfect for families and couples. We visited in the summer, and enjoyed the variety of plants, trees and animals. The pond with the wooden bridge was especially beautiful. There are many entrances and exits, as well as many maps showing you where you currently stand in the park near the exits. We spent about 2 hours strolling through the park.

A real source of oxygen in the center of the capital. You can just sit or relax or visit the cafeteria inside the garden or just scrolling around. The Gardens also have their history. They used to be as Queen Amalia's private garden. Beautiful place.

This park is not so large but lovely and cozy. There is interesting collection of plants. There is a small zoo in the middle of park. I suppose park is really useful and comfortable in very hot weather, because you can rest in the shade of trees. Location is excellent in the center of city.

They have some great stuff. Must have been truly epic in its day. Unfortunately, budget cuts have left it underfunded and a shadow of what it must have been. Still worth a visit. Like the Curate's egg, it's good in parts. If you are in Athens in spring, go for the Wisteria display in the floral garden.

National Gardens of Athens is an incredible spot to visit on a sunny and blistering morning. The trees give adequate shade and there is a lot to see here. If you prefer to visit a museum rather than the gardens, look at the world famous National Archeological Museum. Here you can get familiar with Greek history and discover priceless artifacts.

Our national garden is precious. Not at its very best, but still a must visit. Like in many places of Athens the past mingles with the present. Roman mosaics and other antiquities, buildings since the first king of Athens. A botanical garden full of different species, brought from all over the world. .

In the center of Athens, the national garden is one of the magical places of the city. From alleys of orange trees having a wonderful smell to a small turtle lake and kids attractions, this place has a lot to make you spend a great time! Minus point, a lot of homeless people are leaving on the sides (they do not seem to be dangerous, but I would therefore not recommend kids to go there alone)... All in all a must see.

Not much at the top of the hill beyond the monument, which is pretty decent for what it is. The view, however, is worth the walk through the hot sunshine. The hill provides spectacular views across to the Acropolis of Athens and out over the city and off to the ocean too. The walk to the monument was far less strenuous than we predicted.

The Philopappos Monument (Greek: Μνημείο Φιλοπάππου, Mnimío Philopáppou, [mniˈmio filoˈpapu]) is an ancient Greek mausoleum and monument dedicated to Gaius Julius Antiochus Epiphanes Philopappos or Philopappus, (Greek: Γάιος Ιούλιος Αντίοχος Επιφανής Φιλόπαππος, 65–116 AD), a prince from the Kingdom of Commagene. It is located on Mouseion Hill in Athens, Greece, southwest of the Acropolis. Philopappos died in 116, and his death caused great grief to his sister Julia Balbilla, citizens of Athens and possibly to the imperial family. As a dedication to honor the memory of Philopappos, Balbilla with the citizens of Athens erected a tomb structure on Muses Hill (Λόφος Μουσών) near the Acropolis of Athens. His marble tomb monument is still known as the Philopappos (or Philopappou) Monument, and the hill is today known as Philopappou Hill (Λόφος Φιλοπάππου). The Greek geographer Pausanias describes Philopappos’ grand tomb as a monument built for a Syrian man.[1] The monument was built on the same site where Musaios or Musaeus, a 6th-century BC priestly poet and mystical seer, was held to have been buried. The location of this tomb, opposite the Acropolis and within formal boundaries of the city, shows the high position Philopappos had within Athenian society. Philopappos’ monument is a two-story structure, supported by a base. On the lower level there is a frieze representing Philopappos as a consul, riding on a chariot and led by lictors. The upper level shows statues of three men: of Antiochus IV on the left, of Philopappos in the centre and of Seleucus I Nicator, now lost, on the right. n the niche below Philopappos is an inscription in Greek: Φιλόπαππος Επιφάνους Βησαιεύς ("Philopappos, son of Epiphanes of the deme of the Besa"). This was the name Philopappos carried as an Athenian citizen. In the niche left of Philopappos, a Latin inscription records Philopappos’ titles, honors and his career as a Roman magistrate: "Caius Iulius Antiochus Philopappos, son of Caius, of the Fabian tribe, consul and Arval brother, admitted to the praetorian rank by the emperor Caesar Nerva Trajan Optimus Augustus Germanicus Dacicus". On the right niche of Philopappos once stood a Greek inscription (now only the base is preserved): Βασιλεύς Αντίοχος Φιλόπαππος Βασιλέως Επιφανούς Αντιόχου ("King Antiochus Philopappos, son of King Antiochus Epiphanes"). Below the statue of Antiochus IV, Philopappos' paternal grandfather, is an inscription that states "King Antiochus son of King Antiochus". This inscription honors Antiochus IV and his late father, the last independent ruler of the Kingdom of Commagene, King Antiochus III Epiphanes. When Antiochus III died in 17, Commagene was annexed by the Roman Emperor Tiberius and became a part of the Roman Empire. Below the statue of Seleucus I, the founder of the Seleucid Empire from whom the Commagene kings claimed descent, stood another inscription, now lost. The traveller Cyriacus of Ancona wrote in his memoir that underneath the inscription stated "King Seleucus Nicator, son of Antiochus". The monument measures 9.80 by 9.30 metres (32.2 ft × 30.5 ft), and contains Philopappos’ burial chamber. The structure is built of white Pentelic marble on a socle 3.08 metres (10.1 ft) high, made of porous marble and veneered with slabs of Hymettian marble. The north side of Philopappos’ monument bears lavish architectural decorations.

After you have seen the Acropolis of Athens, take one of the cobbled walk ways that lead into this hill. It is a small but really picturesque trek. I will recommend to go up here later in the evening to catch some of the most breath taking views. You can see the Acropolis on end and then the setting sun and the see to the west. The little hillocks are pretty and make for a wonderful walk. Definite must do.

Fantastic place to go for a walk. It’s got many things to see and I keep discovering more every time I go back. It’s a nice escape from the busy streets of Athens. It’s also really central so it’s an easy one to visit and explore. If you go, go look for the goldfish pond. Its a lovely surprise .

(Translated by Google) The Monument of Filopapo is an ancient Greek mausoleum located in Athens, perched on the hill of the Muses (or Hill of Mouseion), also known as Hill of Filopapo. It is dedicated to Caio Júlio Antíoco Epifânio Filopapo, a prince of the Kingdom of Comagena. Filopapo died in 116 AD and his death caused great distress to his sister, the poet Júlia Balbila, to the citizens of Athens and possibly also to the Roman imperial family. Balbila and the citizens of Athens erected in honor of the deceased a funerary structure in marble on the hill of the Muses, near the Acropolis, which is known today as the Monument of Philopapo. The hill also came to be known as Filopapo hill. The monument is a structure built in pentelic marble with two levels, 9.8 by 9.3 meters and 12 m high. It is based on a 3.08 m high porous marble base, covered with Himecian marble slabs. On the lower level there is a frieze where Filopapo is represented as consul, on top of a carriage and preceded by lictors. At the top were statues of three men: Antiochus IV on the left, Philopapo in the center and Seleuco I Nicátor on the right, the latter currently nonexistent. In the niche below Filopapo there is an inscription in Greek: Φιλόπαππος Επιφάνους Βησαιεύς - «Filopapo, son of Epiphanes of the Besa demo»; the name of Filopapo as a Greek citizen. In the niche to the left of the statue of Philopapo an inscription in Latin registers the titles of Philopapo, honors and his career as a Roman magistrate: «Caio Júlio Antíoco Filopapo, son of Caio, from the tribe of Fabianos, consul and arval brother, admitted to dignity praetorian by Emperor César Nerva Trajano Ó (p) thymus Augusto Germânico Dácico ». In the niche on the right was once an inscription in Greek of which only the base remains, which read: Βασιλέως Επιφανούς Αντιόχου - «King Antiochus Philopapo, son of King Antiochus Epiphanes». This inscription honors Antiochus IV and his father, Comagena's last independent ruler. When Antiochus III died in 17 AD, Comagena was annexed by the Roman emperor Tiberius and became part of the Roman Empire.

(Translated by Google) Great location in the center of Athens that will really take you on a journey. The road to the monument is not one. Many small paths, steps and paths in the pine trees give you the impression that you are not in the center of the capital. The view from the monument is unique. With the above, it is worth walking on the hill of Philopappos.

A nice, calm oasis in a busy city, with a little zoo and a café. Signage to the coffee shop wasn't great, but we found it eventually and had a nice cold drink in the shade. I'm sure there was lots more to explore but we only went for a refreshment break after watching the changing of the guard.

  • 5/5 Dor N. 2 years ago on Google
Go there when it's hot! we went there when it was very hot outside and the temperature was significantly lower in the park. It was a huge treat after walking around all sweaty 🥵. The park itself is really nice with many cool corners to sit in, a pond with a bridge and a small island, fish pond etc. Really nice place to spend an hour or two

  • 4/5 KAYIN L. 2 years ago on Google
It's great to have a huge green space in the city! Good for a walk or just chilled there. But the signs weren't really clear..

  • 5/5 Amber van N. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty garden. It is quite big and there are stagues placed throughout the fields. I noticed that there was a small pond as well. It was home to several turtles. It was really cute to look at. There is a field in front of the biggest building in this garden. That field is used as a local playground for dogs.

A scorching hot day was broken up with a nice stroll through the national garden. Half of the garden is closed off for works at the moment without much signage, hence the 4 stars, but definitely a great spot to get some shade. And the cute terrapin pond! A must see :)

  • 2/5 Antonio Vidal C. 2 years ago on Google
Small park that really only offers shadow. I was expecting way more from a national park but the small lake is dirty and smell like this very strong sea smell that is disgusting. The zoo is just some goats that you can see on the country side too. The park for the children looks fine so maybe for them is more funny. The turtles are very crowded but funny to see them.

  • 4/5 Andrea K. 2 years ago on Google
The park was closed in a day with no reason. The other day was open and when we walked thru the place, we realized the peoples litter around hided places. They have inside a park a "Zoo". That was really nice, but they Need to clean around the place. The walkside was pretty good and the Kids playground was safe.

  • 5/5 Chris A. 2 years ago on Google
This place was an amazing experience. We caught it just they were closing so ran up into the third gate and third line of defense. Had I known this was here we would have definitely allotted at least an hour or more to explore the entire acropolis/ fort / castle. The views were beautiful and the histories incredibly rich.

Pleasant and clean gardens. Large area for quiet walks and photography. Many different plants and trees for the horticulturist. Gardens are well maintained, have a good sized play area for kids and a small lake with ducks. The play area closes around an hour before the gardens close and the stewards can be fairly rude with a whistle urging everyone to leave, which was not nice.

Great place to spend afternoon after long day trip in hot sun. It can amaze when you see animals inside of park. Strongly recommend to grab some coffee, sit in bench under the tree and relax!

Wonderful oasis amongst the dry Mediterranean landscape. Large, shaded, and full of hidden treasures.

  • 4/5 lora W. 2 years ago on Google
Nice place to get away from the crowds. There are animals (rabbits, goats, ducks, and a few others that the park cares for), a playground for the kids, some sculptures, an a beautiful little tunnel of greenery to walk through along with a few fountains. Lots of shade & places to sit along the paths so you can relax and enjoy nature.

  • 5/5 Dima P. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to rest and to touch nature. Nice pond with a lot of birds and turtles. You can sit and relax all do sports here. It is a quiet place not far from the city center.

If you are in Athens it is worth your while to stroll through this wonderful garden. A quiet refuge in the heart of the city.

  • 3/5 Jana K. 2 years ago on Google
Wide and a bit better park upon them all. The place offers various sections with different plants and styling, such as pergola, ancient ruins, children's library. In general, I saw a lot of activities for children so this might be your place to go in Athens, if you have a family. A lot of sections of the park were closed at the time when I was there, though. So prepare also for a possibility that your walk will be unexpectedly shorter, or that you just won't get to some areas that you had been looking forward to.

Nice park in the middle of the city but when I visited most of the east side is blocked off and you cannot enter. The botanical museum was closed, the bird collection, the Spanish fountain and Amalias rock was blocked off! If you have an hour to wander around it’s nice but cannot see half of the sites

  • 5/5 Chrysoula S. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful park with many different plants from all over the world. You can enter from different points. Peaceful gem help you forget you're all the hustle and bustle of Athens!!! A must see!!

Lovely place to visit . Beautiful natural surroundings with lots of shaded trails to enjoy especially during hot days. Ancient ruins, a museum, birds and a lake add to the experience. Highly recommend spending time here before or after watching the changing of the Epson guards.

  • 5/5 Simona K. 1 year ago on Google
Nice place to take a walk. The trees are from different world regions. The part of the garden is under the construction. The garden is a little bit confusing - you do need a map. A pleasant surprise was to see some wildlife.

One of my favourite place in Athnes. The gardens are so big and you could literally get lost there and just spend the day travelling. Highly recommend the seeing the invisible monument. Super cool way to spend your time and get to know the park

One of the most beautiful places in Athens! Definitely take some time to visit as it's a great place to rest for a bit after the business of the city. The ponds are fun as well, loved to watch the turtles and fish :)

Beautiful garden with lots of different plants and trees, waterfalls, enough benches to sit on and very cute corners. A true oase in the middle of busy Athens.

  • 5/5 Thomas D. 11 months ago on Google
Very nice park located near a lot of the « main » activities. It’s very green and well colored. There are multiples small « spots » like: - The lake with the ducks - The turtle pond - The sport with a view on the side of the Old Royal Palace - The playground for the kids - … There are also very nice trees and you have some streams of water here and there add a bigger sense of relaxation in the park. There are some places to hang out with a group of friends, other places to play with a ball, or places to read a book or even sleep. We spent 1 hours in order to see most spot of the park, while walking not fast, but not slowly. I would recommend to either spent 2 hours there and do a picnic, or eventually, pass by twice and explore different zones of the park

Was a nice peaceful place with a lot of shade... Great for summer time. Had a little turtle pond with tons of turtles. But I was sad to see so many places closed off and the children's library was also closed and didn't show any timings. The kids playground was also closed.

Αn oasis of green in the middle of Athens, next to the Greek Parliament. The only problem is that at the moment (July 2023) there are a lot of closed alleys due to rehabilitation or other works. So there is a great possibility to reach one end of the park and to exit it you will be forced to go back from the point that you just came. No signs whatsoever. A must see are the small lakes, one (the smallest) full of turtles an the other with ducks.

  • 5/5 Lana R. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful! Great escape from the heat. There are plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy nature, and even a mini zoo with goats and ducks. Just across the road from Syntagma Square and easy to "get lost in". Took us around 2 hours to walk the whole thing.

  • 5/5 Donae W. 8 months ago on Google
Great escape from the bustle of Athens!!! Beautiful gardens with lots of ducks, birds, goats, and lush vegetation. Pack a picnic or just some drinks, relax in the shade with friends, or read a book. It's quite a reprieve from the relentless Greek sun. Also, it is right next to the Presidential Palace, where you can see the changing of the guard ceremony.

  • 5/5 Jacek G. 8 months ago on Google
Great place for kids. Even around 2pm, there was plenty of shade. I am not sure if you can drink the water from the tap but at least it was working and I could use it to cool my head down. Definitely you need to check out the whisper dishes.

  • 5/5 Piotr S. 8 months ago on Google

A fine garden with walking/jogging routes, ponds, and ancient sculptures. The place has several entrances/exits, and is free of charge. Restrooms are available in some parts of it. It has guidance maps. It is also connected to Syntagma Square. Worth spending 1 hour here.

  • 5/5 Miguel B. 7 months ago on Google

Absolutely loved this place! I don't know why people don't mention it in travel blogs about Athens. At least I didn't see anyone mentioning it in top places to visit in Athens. Luckily we bumped into it by accident. We liked it so much! It has so much different trees and other plants. There was kind of a pond with big, colourful fish - i assume it was Koi(Coy) fish. 2 more ponds or so with TURTLES!!😍😍😍 ducks were seen too. Huge plus is that you can also find plenty of shadow in here🤣 which gives you a chance of sitting down and relaxing on a well available benches. The garden is so big, that you can easily walk around for more than an hour. The only downside was the toilet - wasn't taken care of properly. At least the one i went to in case there's more. And for those who travel with dogs - unfortunately you cannot take them in with you. Shame I didn't take more beautiful photoes🤷‍♀️

Wonderful park, where you can wander around for hours. It's very clean and there's a nice atmosphere. Lot's of things to see like the ducks, the fountain, the turtles and the playground. There's beautiful foliage and statues.

You should spare one day to visit and enjoy it all. The abundance of tree diversity fascinates me. It is a very beautiful place where you can breathe, with turtles, fish, goats and various animals. The flies are a bit annoying and the environment can be a bit cold, so be sure to wear warm clothes.

A nice park, if it's a hot day and you need a sit down and a break after walking about and you do not want the hussle and bustle of Plakas tavernas. It is an ideal place to come and sit. Especially if you plan it that way and buy lunch/drinks en route. You can also visit the capitol building, the unique changing of the guard, and Zyntagma Square, which are all very close.

It’s a large park next to the Greek Parliament building and it has a very small built in zoo which you can also visit for free. There are many trees imported from different parts of the world and a botanical museum (which is closed on sundays).
