Absolutely a hidden treasure! Our server, Sarah, provided exceptional service, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space. Unexpectedly, a gust of wind knocked over my drink, shattering my martini glass. However, out of nowhere, the manager and two staff members promptly came to our aid, displaying remarkable attentiveness and empathy. Without a doubt, I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant a thousand times over. Additionally, their fish and chips were of unparalleled quality. You simply must give it a try!

😍Cozy atmospheric restaurant near the lake. We found this place by accident. And our experience was pleasant. 😍 Amazing location of the restaurant on the lake and a beautiful view. Varied selection of dishes on the menu. Nice Christmas music 🎶. 😋Our food was delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant. Friendly staff, free Wi-Fi. Thanks! I recommend ✅

Our waitress was Awesome! The gumbo was so good! Then my $21 meal came...what a let down. 2 fried small oysters 1 big one that was so slimy I had to spit it out so I wouldn't throw up, 1 small piece of cod, 3 fried shrimp, and a huge plate of dried cold tator sticks.. (not fries,in my book anyway), coleslaw was like eating oxidized cabbage coated in pure vinegar with the mother, to top it off I had drank half my glass off water and went to take another drink and I noticed a million floaties in my water glass! I almost threw up there & on the way home just thinking about it! Yuk! There was a lady sweeping the floor which is so rude while your eating THEN when we were leaving she swept dirt at my ankles...I said how rude & asked my husband did you see that he said yes....keep going. We drove 20 minutes to try this place! I think they must close at 4 on Sundays not sure and pissed cause we came right before closing...I don't know. I do know. I do know a guy ordered the same that I did and it was super loaded. I was so excited to get mine...when i got mine it was 1/4 of what he got. So sad... we rv and try places recommended and I do reviews.

Food was so so, waitstaff was wonderful her name is Savanah. Great service, answered all the questions, about the menu choices. Atmosphere of course is great, lake side how could you miss. Food was so,so not the greatest, for the price. Beer was good.

We eat at the Boathouse every time we visit family in Athens. What makes this place special for us is the outside seating, the view of Lake Athens, and the service. This time of year is perfect for being outside and yesterday didn't disappoint! We arrived just after 11am, soon after they opened, and it did fill up fairly quickly. If there would be anything that would give the Boathouse less than 5 starts, it would be the noise level. Though this is not really the restaurants fault, we had some exceptionally loud talkers around us and it was difficult to tune them out. We still enjoyed our time, the great table location on the deck, and everything else. We came to the conclusion that next time we will arrive after the lunch crowd (2pm?). Our server, Brandelyn, was spot on--got our picky orders just right, checked in on us at just the right time, drink refills, etc. My wife and I both ordered the Cobb salad and they got them just right (note: my wife asked for no corn, which the picture shows) . Thank you for a great lunch, minus the annoying people two tables down talking very loudly!

Outside of the waitress who was very sweet, we had the whole experience was bad. We went on a Saturday night in November 2023. We were seated quickly. The place was so very loud. The acoustics were crazy. It was like sitting in my high school lunch room that was actually the girls gym. Started with a margarita and it was by far the worst I have ever tried. Tasted like the mix had soured. Returned it and got a tea. We ordered our food and I got what was supposedly linguine with shrimp in a red sauce and it tasted like canned tomato soup over what looked like a thin spaghetti. No bread came with the meal. No salad choice. Both were extras. The portion size was smaller than expected for the price especially since no extras came with the meal. The shrimp were small and few. My husband ordered a mixed plate with catfish. The fish was undercooked and cold. His shrimp was ok. Oh and the fries that came with his dinner reminded us in taste and texture of the shoestring potted we used to get at the store in a can. Overall was a terrible experience.

Needs sound reduction in the dining. Now as I sit here in The Boathouse dining area I have to review before I forget. The owner, took great care. Our server, top notch and what one would expect from a fine dining experience, shout out to Courtney. The drinks, perfect without the goofy chain restaurant blah blah drinks. I'm a believer. Amazing Food and Steaks! Better people.

Location excellent, food always very flavorful and delicious, service friendly and prompt, and these things, at least from our multiple visits, are consistent. All those things add up to being what a great restaurant should be. Kudos to Boathouse Bar and Grill for being the top notch restaurant it is.
