Beautiful hotel in the heart of Athens. The view of the acropolis from the GB rooftop garden was absolutely stunning. Rooms were a bit small but with excellent decor. The Alexander lounge was stunning. Staff and service were top notch. Breakfast and dinner overlooking the acropolis made it for a memorable stay. Definitely worthy of 5 stars!

The hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The food is great and the pool is very relaxing. All of this has crumbled as soon as my brother and I got verbally attacked by a guest in the elevator for not having a mask on. He then attempted to physically attack us but his wife pulled him away. I did not feel safe at all after this incident and was carefully moving around the hotel so I didn’t have to run into him again. You wouldn’t think you would be attacked at a hotel like this. I was very disappointed. I booked the most expensive prestigious hotel and this happens. I spoke with security and the front desk and they really didn’t do anything about it. They apologized and that was it. I’ve seen management try to offer reward points or something as a compensation for such events but they certainly didn’t offer any of that. I will probably come back and stay here again but I will watch out for such crazy guests. Just be careful and always try to walk out of the elevator if you get attacked by someone

You can't get a better hotel than this. Location 5 stars Rooms 5 stars services 5 stars. The most amazing breakfast buffet I've ever had. Gorgeous views on the Acropolis from the restaurant. Located right across the street from the square. This hotel is worth every penny. Just book it and stop looking at reviews you won't regret it !

If not the best, one of the best hotels in Greece. From reception the warm smile, the ushering, the personalized interactions, proactively guessing what we might want, explaining every food detail, delivering in a minute our additional orders. This hotel is an experience. Goes without saying that we'll go back again and again.

Very nice hotel in a central location convenient access to many attractions. If you like classic luxury interior architecture this is the hotel to be. Well equipped gym and good outdoor pool. ATM at the basement. Highly recommended.

How could anyone rate this hotel less than 5 stars. Everything from the staff to the food is exceptional. The location in perfect for walking through the heart of downtown Athens. & this hotel offers one of, if not the best view in the city! I would recommend that your stay is no less than 3 days, enjoy breakfast, definitely stay for dinner, and make a stop at the cigar lounge if you're into cigars. My wife and I really enjoyed the location to the Athens nightlife as well as the food. The best hotel in Athens!

Beautiful property and very well located. I was able to walk nearly everywhere I wanted to go in central Athens. The staff is very professional and friendly. The spa is very well appointed with many different amenities. The rooftop bar and restaurant has some of the best views I’ve seen over Athens. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for something special.

I think this is the best five star hotel in Athens. A warm welcoming at the entrance, Kind and friendly staff. The decoration of the hotel was extraordinary. This is a luxury hotel and the prices is not low. The cafe at the main floor was a heartwarming place. The food was tasty. The cigar lounge at the first floor has a fireplace inside it. The hotel has a spa at the -1 floor. And an open pool area at the roof top. Hope to visit again on our next trip to Athens.

I truly don't understand how this place has so many 5 star reviews. I think it's cognitive dissonance where they need to trick themselves into thinking they had a great time bc they spent so much money. It feels expensive which I guess is a thing one could go for but it's also crumbling. The pool is small and bar area isn't that great. They also think they can charge 5 euro for a 33ml bottle of club soda. What?

Gorgeous historic 5 star hotel in Syntagma square. Our deluxe king room had a balcony and a perfect view of the Acropolis. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Walking distance to every major attraction in central Athens. You can't go wrong here.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your place. This website will compare countless booking websites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of the most well known in the area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you will love it I'm sure! Beautiful, ornate hotel right in the heart of Athens. Perfect location, gorgeous facilities, Four Seasons level of service - which is incredible. The rooms are magnificent. The lobby bar is elegant. Rooftop pool is fantastic. Concierge is first rate. Easily the best hotel in Athens!

The oldest hotel in Athens and it’s an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. From the friendly staff to the incredible interiors of this hotel it’s just breathtaking. The suites are stunning and spacious with a real charm. Equipped with USB outlets is a delight specially if you are from North America, no need to carry any adapters 😀. The outside pool has amazing views even tough it might be a bit small, but again the great service of staff would mask any tiny flaws. Views of Acropolis, the Greek parliament,… The butler service is always an added bonus which is lovely.

This is the best hotels in Athens. The service was incredible, rooms are luxurious, and location is absolutely perfect to access everything great in Athens -- from the ancient Acropolis to luxury shopping. Worth mentioning again the stand-out service. We were staying on the executive level and made good use of our personal butler, which made our stay a breeze. The rooftop restaurant has an insane view of Athens and the Acropolis - must see. One of my favorite hotels in Europe.

Great hotel.....very, VERY expensive but worth it if you want a proper old-world hotel. The view and setting for breakfast was the best I've ever seen, ever. Sitting and taking in Athens whilst eating incredible food was unbeatable. Very small rooms if you're not staying in a suite. Everything is very high-quality , however there are a couple of annoying things like awful water pressure and the shower being in the bath, with the bath becoming narrower towards the end where you stand to have a shower....why???

Had the opportunity of staying her for 5 nights with my wife while in Greece for work. This was a wonderful stay and absolutely beautiful hotel. From check in to check out the stay was outstanding. The staff were all extremely professional, friendly and always accommodating. I felt the location was perfect walking distance to countless restaurants and sights to see. The rooms were elegant and comfortable. We enjoyed the roof top restaurant for breakfast each morning, as well as for drinks in the evening. If you’re looking for an upscale place to stay in Athens we highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms, suites, Spa, food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the lodging experience is excellent. I highly recomend this iconic hotel.

This place is gorgeous, great food, rooms are spacious, bed is comfortable. They have a few dining options, one downstairs, and a rooftop restaurant. That one gets crowded but worth the wait, the views are amazing, food delicious, we have breakfast, lunch and dinner there during our stay and never had anything but great service and great food. Really nice pool on the roof also. This place is gorgeous!

This is probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in and as a frequent traveler, I’ve stayed in my fair share. This one however, is one of the best. I rarely give 5 stars but this hotel is luxury at it’s finest and earned it. It’s got that old school type luxury, ya know the type of luxury that you think is only accessible by diplomats and celebrities. Location: It’s centrally located and the staff were super helpful in finding places to eat. The restaurant in the hotel is amazing. They even have a cigar bar (with Cuban’s!) with amazing coffee and drink selection. Amenities: Being in the Marriott Autograph collection, the bath products are top notch. Everything in the room is luxurious from the marble to the decor to the trim. No detail left untouched. View: The breakfast with the view of the Acropolis is probably the best in the city. Seriously. The breakfast is also great…I mean i could go on and on. Valet is speedy and even remembered our name after the first couple of days. Truly a 5 star experience and actually i think this may be my only 5 star hotel review.

We choose this hotel because of the pool. But this one was closed in April, despite the beautiful weather. I had booked a room with a view of the city. We had a view of a wall ( see the photo). In compensation, the hotel offered us a fruit basket and a late check out. But it gave us neither the view nor the access to the pool. The rest was perfect.

Room noise isolation is very good, service is great, decor is a little heavy on marble but still hitting 'regal' and the location is excellent for visiting Athens. Recommended, if you can afford it

Indeed a genuine Grand Hotel. I had a quick lunch at The Winter Garden after my spa procedures. Attentive service and utmost accent to details. I went for Caesar salad with shrimp - shrimp was tender and soft, while lettuce was chopped too thin for my tasting, I prefer bigger chunks of salad. Also I’d add croutons and more sauce but overall it tasted good and I enjoyed it. For digestif I had espresso and japanese whiskey.

Great hotel in the center of Athens. We came here for my birthday. Staffing was really nice and did welcome us warmly. They did pay attention to my special day and made our stay very comfortable. Breakfast location at the roof top gives an amazing view over Athens and the Acropolis. Stunning 😍 Rooms was very clean and over all a true 5* experience.

Very disappointed with this very elegant and expensive hotel. Our check in was nothing but waiting excessively to assign a room for us. The room that they assigned us was very small but had a nice balcony. After traveling for a long period of time we wanted to rest and specifically requested privacy, no calls or provide any information of our stay. Not only did they allow calls to come in at 2:00 am in the morning but also provided our room number. We were forced to depart in the early morning hours for our safety. Again, for a very elegant and exclusive hotel our privacy and security was disregarded.

An expensive hotel that was just lovely. Unfortunately, they gave us twin beds instead of the requested king. They made it right with a bottle of champagne. While it's a little thing, the scale didn't work. Why have a scale if you don't service it? Breakfast was included? We were sent to a different hotel restaurant and then they sai argued it wasn't included. Didn't need multiple discussions about it before they agreed. Magnificent view from rooftop of the Parthenon. The bedroom view was an inside courtyard.

We loved this hotel. The location was amazing with gorgeous views of the Acropolis from some rooms and the rooftop where they serve daily breakfast and lunch and dinner. The service was also amazing, from the concierge to the front desk to the bellmen, everyone was so kind and helpful and spoke perfect English. We would definitely recommend staying here. 5 stars.

The hotel is beautiful. Impeccable service from the time we arrived. The suite was nice (a little worn on the shower ceiling and walls in the living area. Also, there was what appeared to be mold on the wall in the bedroom on the side of the fixture against the wall). Housekeeping did a very nice job cleaning the room. Upon receiving our luggage to the room, one of the Butlers, Olga, arrived and offered many helpful suggestions, including having lunch at Papadakis. Olga, Ada, and George continued to be at our service. Fresh flowers and fruit in our suite daily was a very nice touch. The rooftop breakfast was wonderful with awesome views, a little slower pace, however. Definitely try the Benedict with salmon! We enjoyed our wine tasting. Nice wines to sample and great explanation of each. The bar on the eighth floor was the best! The lobby is beautiful and welcoming.

We had a great stay at Hotel Grande Bretagne in the heart of Athens. As a elevated member status with Marriott truly allow you to get some perks here. Sure, it is $700-$1000 a night pricetag, but the service and food and the room are just incredible, I would give it 6 stars if possible. Easy walking distance to most of the major landmarks in Athens, the breakfast is what you expected in a 6 stars hotel.... SUPERB! The view to the acropolis is just unmatched! We truly enjoy our stay!

Perfect location in the center of Athens. Have stayed for business and pleasure many times. Some of the staff are incredible like Despina at the lobby restaurant and the butlers are very well trained. Food is basic but good, afternoon tea is OK and rooms are cozy if a tad old fashioned but I understand the hotel wants to maintain some of its legacy. Roof top restaurant is perfect for breakfast and dinner with clear views to the acropolis. Spa is small but good.

Great service and cozy place. I did slightly trip on the carpet in the lobby (twice) but uneven ground seems to be part of the Athens experience. I enjoyed my stay here.

Overnight stay only so limited opportunities to appreciate or take up all that was available. Staff are professional, courteous, efficient and a credit to the smooth running of the areas we did use. The roof-top restaurant has amazing views of the city and of the Acropolis about, at a guess, 300 metres away. Bedroom was fully equipped to meet most needs, spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. We had a light lunch in the restaurant - excellent risotto - also breakfast, great options, and had dinner in the Garden Room, well looked after throughout.

GB is the historic hotel of Athens for a reason. So many stories to narrate, exciting events took place in this building. For leisure travelers who want to enjoy luxury in the heart of the city to corporate groups who want high end facilities. Don't miss tea time at "winter garden" bar and give yourself a spa treatment! You deserve it!

Not impressed by service at reception. Rooms tiny and the pool which looks great on pictures is actually very small. Too many people in the pool, service all over the place. Breakfast is like a 3 star hotel but view is amazing from the breakfast room. The hotel is old but not luxury unfortunately.

this Hotel is the epitome of what a great hotel should be , and it has the epitome of what great staff should be... polite, helpful, knowledgable and quick...This place sets the standards of what others should aspire to be..

This is certainly one of the best hotels in Athens. Historic, impessable service, luxurious, old world charm and style. Rooms are well equipped, and tastefully decorated. Not too spacious, but it's expected in Europe. Nice bathroom fixtures and toiletries. The only little issue is quite small shower, barely fits one person. However, there is full bath too. Two pools, including one on rooftop, and three restaurants and lounges. GB rooftop is quite chic and happening, but it has dress code, no kidding. 101 F in Athens, and they enforce dress code, what a joke! We had great breakfast buffet there though. As Platinum Bonvoy Member, I enjoyed several perks, including free breakfast for our family and presents from the hotel, quite nice. Well, it is very expensive, and I booked room for Marriott points, otherwise it doesn't make any sense. Paying 900 Euro per night in high season is simply not an option for me, and for most of the people, I assume. Not a great value, but wonderful experience all around.

This property wowed our multi generational family stay in every single way. From prearrival communication, transfers, reception, housekeeping, concierge, the rooftop restaurant, pool, soaking tubs in the rooms, and even hotel security for VIPs, this was the perfect ending to a nearly 2 week trip through Turkey and Greece. Location is excellent. Tip: pay the extra for a balcony room with a view of the Acropolis. You will also be able to see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony from your balcony as well-done hourly 24 hrs a day. Read up on this tradition beforehand so you will appreciate all the little details! A big thank you to the staff for the extra marzipan too! Yum!!

My wife and I truly enjoyed our visit to Athens! Our accommodation at the Hotel Grande Bretagne lived up to its 5-star billing which also included its stellar service and amazing location. During our stay, we found ourselves deeply immersed in the epicenter of the culture and flair that was everything Athens!

My first visit to this iconic hotel that next year (2024) will be celebrating its 150th year of operation as a hotel. There's a reason for its longevity, and it rests on the shoulders of the solicitous and caring staff that go above and beyond to ensure that all guests will have a memorable experience with every stay. I've stayed at thousands of hotels over the years that run the gamut from budget go super luxury, and I can honestly say that the Grande Bretagne rates among the top 5. I was fortunate enough to be ensconced in a Grand Suite and thus had access to the butler service. What a great crew they were. They really couldn’t do enough for me, and my unusual requests were accommodated without hesitation. The suite itself was a classic beauty. It was like stepping back In time, but with the modern conveniences that we all have come to expect. Nothing was amiss, and housekeeping kept everything prim and proper with their twice daily visits. I could very easily get used to that kevel of attention. Buffet breakfast on the 8th floor was lovely. The view to the Acropolis was breathtaking, and the quality of food and service was simply marvelous. The Eggs Benedict was my favorite among more than a few selections that I truly enjoyed. I can't wait to save up my pennies and stay again. It was so worth it!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Grande Bretagne for our last night in Greece before our international flight back to the States the next day. Gorgeous, historic hotel. We had dinner on the rooftop which was amazing with great views of the Acropolis and excellent food and service. Will definitely be staying again next night in Athens.

Absolutely lovely hotel. Centrally located. Quiet and friendly staff. You will feel like royalty. Also, their body gel smells fantastic. I will be buying this product if I can find it.

If you are going to stay in Athens this is the place to be (if you can afford the cost). Get a suite and you will have a butler at your service. Make reservations weeks prior to arrival for the rooftop bar. It has a stunning view of the Acropolis. We’ve stayed 4-5 times over the past several years and it has never failed our expectations. The photo is a room 606 view of the Acropolis and the outdoor balcony.

My favourite hotel in Athens, I'd love to stay there next time I'm in town. The design is classic and warm, and the greenery gives it a welcoming feel. I went there for breakfast at the GB rooftop terrace, but that was only open to guests staying overnight, so I went to the Cigar terrace instead. I already look forward to going back and staying there.

This hotel is amazing by many criteria, but we were most impressed by the service level. Every staff member we encountered was polished and friendly, which made our stay very enjoyable. The food was great, both at breakfast and dinner accompanied by beautiful view. The pool is small but adequate if the hotel isn't full and the pool bar has a great vibe. The location is unbeatable and you can walk pretty much anywhere. The weakest point is the room itself. It's an old hotel and our room was small, stuffed with heavy furniture, with only a narrow bath tub, no shower. Although the bed was comfy, we didn't sleep well because you hear every time someone opens the door anywhere on your floor, with old thin walls and heavy doors. So, the room definitely not worth the money, but the overall experience was great.

The Hotels security is incompetent. They have no idea of their own let alone government requirements in relation to Covid. I strongly suggest the person educates herself on her governments own website and hotel policy. Apparently Australian is part of the EU, news to me. I bet the Australian Government would surprised as well. Apparently the five other countries I have travelled to prior to coming to their Hotel for a few cocktails have absolutely no idea of their own requirements, because they let me in with no issues. I have been vaccinated more than three times and provided the same documents to five other countries let alone over 100 shops in those separate countries and have been accepted in all of them, yet I cannot come into their establishment for a couple of cocktails because she is not happy with what the Australian Government has provided me to prove my vaccination proof. After being embarrassed by this person, I provided her with a document that she has no right to view to prove to her that I have been vaccinated more than three times, with the last being in December of 2021. After providing this she AGAIN wanted to see my id and or passport after already seeing the documents. Now she was just pushing it !! Welcome to one of the most prestigious establishments in Greece !! I have been in Law Enforcement for many years and to encounter this was a new experience, I would interpret this to be a targeted approach against an Australian or that’s what it appeared to be. Either that or this person just wanted to try and embarrass two people who have collectively been involved in law enforcement and security for over 20 years. NOT IMPRESSED!!!

Beautiful gem of a hotel, friendly staff. My absolute highlight was the afternoon tea. I used to live in England for a while and have been looking for ages until I found an equivalent afternoon tea experience in Greece. This one is amazing. Loved everything. Scones with clotted cream and jam were to die for. The tea itself was amazing too. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name, just that it was a limited edition Christmas blend with White Tea as a base.

This is the grand, old, established ritzy hotel of Athens. It's s trip just coming here to have a drink, eat s meal and listen to the piano player or jazz trio. Don't expect a bargain on anything, going here is all about excess and soaking in the atmosphere.

I can’t remember how I found this place, but I am glad I did. It is one of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in. We stayed here for five day. It’s very pricey, but the service you get is first class. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. There’s nothing they will not do for you. They arranged transportation and tours for us. Their location is also very good. You are near historical site, great shopping and lots of restaurants. Their own restaurant is amazing with great food, service, and views. I highly recommend this hotel if you are used to staying at five star hotels and expect luxury and service. We were repeatedly told by our guides that we are staying at the finest hotel in all of Athens.

Excusite palatial luxurious its an amazing hotel. The restaurants and bars are second to none. Fabulous and very attentive service with amazing well presented and delicious meals. A champagne in the cocktail and piano bar finished our wonderful time. Such a tranquil place with an amazing pianist keeping us entertained throughout the evening. It is an experience to savour. I will be going back and highly recommend it.

Ultimately a stunning hotel in a great spot! The hotel itself is truly beautiful, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. The first stop of our honeymoon trip was here, and it was a great welcome to Greece. However, I do want to warn other people staying here that housekeeping just walked into our room twice at night, first at 8pm (we were already asleep because of jetlag) and again at 10pm which made us very uncomfortable. We even had the do-not-disturb sign up. This was not the only time that happened throughout our week in Greece, so maybe it's a different customs situation, but it did make us very uneasy so wanted to let other people know.

If excellence was a place, this would be it. I haven't eaten anything better in my life, and the view is amazing, absolutely mesmerising, would definitely recommend for everyone, staying and eating here is a must do when visiting Greece.

We visit the hotel for brunch or drinks. The location is great and as a place is pretty unique in comparison to other options around. The food is not very special (taking into account that is really pricey) even though the appearance is beautiful. Overall is very classy, the view is great if you choose the roof garden and the service is indeed what you expect. I am not sure though that I would recommend it for dinner or lunch since nearby there are plenty of worthy options. (More recent photos from "afternoon tea". Also, the live piano ads something special)

I booked 3 rooms; 2 through Marriott and 1 through American Express. As a Marriott Platinum member we are supposed to get suite upgrades when available and booking through American Express I was supposed to get a room upgrade if available. I asked for an upgrade and the only upgrade I got was from a classic room to a deluxe room on 1 of the room. The front desk person had to call someone just to see if she could “upgrade” the one room. So much for a suite upgrade as a Platinum member. Suites and better rooms were available during our stay; I checked the app to see if I could book better rooms prior to checking in. If you are looking for a modern hotel this isn’t the hotel for you. I would recommend checking out other hotels while in Athens.

At this hotel, you find yourself smiling without noticing, making the happiness dance after a good meal, and saying thank you more times than you ever did in your life. At this hotel, you get to feel like part of history, through the details in the walls, views and stories. From the W. Churchill room to the underground tunnels at the Spa, the outdoor or inner pool and 6 restaurants offering cuisines for every taste. By far the best hotel I’ve stayed at. Came for work, stayed for pleasure.

A truly beautiful 5* hotel, elegant old world charm, centrally located. Not many hotels have maintained this level of traditional luxury. Although we really didn’t enjoy Athens, this hotel and rooftop restaurant was the one very enjoyable evening. If you must spend time in Athens, do it here.

This hotel wreaked of cigar smoke. It was in the hallways, elevator and even up to the top floor. Rooms are dated. Barely any space where the toilet is, you have to sit at an angle. Only positive is the Great location. Customer service was good, not perfect. Even with “butler” service it was not the best. They were mia for the most part. Upgraded to a room in the alley with no view when the hotel was not full. Buffet breakfast was standard pastries, not fresh. And overcooked omelets. The view was amazing from the rooftop. For the price, I’d expect more. They really need to figure out their ventilation system with their cigar bar. It’s terrible.
