You get what you pay for! Fantastic location in the mix of a bunch of fun bars and coffee shops. Walking distance to Acropolis, which can also be seen from the terrace. The guy at reception was incredibly friendly and helpful. The lost souls that were staying there would stare at you as if they were going to hurt you in your sleep (definitely not your typical backpackers seemed more like long-term residents living in tent camps). The kitchen was a joke. 3 coffee cups for about 85 people. The hot plate doesn't heat, and the kettle has no lid. The toilets have no seats. The shower water was hot, but the stall was so small that when you touched the walls, you felt dirtier than when you got in. Beds came with free bugs, and there was an ogre sleeping in our room.

Only pick this if you're on a very tight budget. Friendly staff besides older ladY, with big rooms. Met some dudes in the common area, had a smoke with them. Encountered BEDBUGS (yes theyre not dangerous they just bite and itch), and when I told the owner, she didn't care she just gave me rude answers whatever I asked. Seems like the place is more for long-term residents and homeless druggies. Most of the toilet etc are broken

Let me tell you something: friendly staff and probably the cheapest place to stay in town. acropolis and other nice sites very close. downside: beds hilariously squeaky, bathrooms quite dirty, in rooms with 14 people the air gets super bad at night. no other backpackers in their 20s but that may be because of the early seson. no encounters with bedbugs but i can’t say for sure. basically you gotta decide if you want a (small funny) cheap hostel for your stay in athens or not ;)

Put us in a room filled with bed bugs, and got angry at us for asking for another room. Also randomly removed all our bedsheets when we were out, and got angry because our locker key numbers where rubbed away..

The receptionist was nice and the location is very central and the rooms are large but unfortunately that is about it. The bathrooms were pretty run down and the showers were tiny. The whole place just looks really run down and not clean. My boyfriend and I were woken at 2:30 am to bed bugs crawling in our bed and on the wall. My boyfriend was bitten twice and had a bad reaction to the bites. We couldn’t leave because of how late it was and were told by the after hours reception via text that we can just take another bed in the room, which wasn’t much of a help because I would assume if one bunk set has bed bugs then they probably all would. We were refunded for our stay but the hotel offered no compensation for the costs of getting our clothes and our backpacks appropriately sterilised and cleaned to get rid of the bed bugs. If the bed bugs weren’t there I could have dealt with the place, but the whole experience together I would say it’s far better for your holiday and your well-being to just pay a little bit extra and not have the nightmare end of a trip like we did.

Be careful, there is a bed bugs infestation here. Anyways I give 2 stars because we were able to get a full refund without problems, once we showed them the bed bugs we found.

very run down hostel, the owners are not even there to see the state of the kitchen or the beds. many complaints about chinhes, the kitchen without cooking utensils, only some plastic cups, when the capacity of the hostel is 70 people, the kitchen is not enough to cook for more than 3 people,

Very bad experience. I informed the reception I would arrive late and they said it will all be ready, but they forgot about that so I had to wait for half an hour. Bathrooms very small for a room of 16 people and I was given no locker room key so i had to put all my things in my bed.

This place has all the ingredients to be fun and great. Clean beds, great location, and friendly staff. The problem is the clientele. This place is packed with strange and rude older men- almost nobody was in their 20's. They separate the rooms into single genders too, which makes the vibe even stranger, esp. if you're a woman. People are up all night in the rooms talking on their phones, they have no regard for sleeping guests, and the hygiene was pretty terrible. I'm talking using the bathroom with the door open and pretty bad body odor. The kitchen was littered in dirty dishes and spilled food. If this place cleaned up their act and kept it to 35 years and younger, it'd be pretty fun. Instead, it was just pretty disconcerting. That said it's cheap and centrally located and decently comfortable. So 2 stars.

In the individual room that we were in, the bathroom was dirty, the toilet, we had to clean it with alcohol, the bed had bedbugs, we had bites on our bodies. It was a bad experience there. not recommended.

This is hostel so bare that in mind when booking. You get what you pay for, this is £10 per night per person. The location is EXCELLENT and couldn’t be any better. The staff are amazing and really easy to contact. Beds are comfy, a balcony upstairs and there is a fridge and cooking facilities upstairs (though I think some people live here full time so there wasn’t much space). Everything is clean just a bit run down. My only niggle would be the showers are very small however the waters warm and the pressures good. I would recommend when travelling! Also the other guest are all nice and keep themselves to themselves.

Very well located, a cheap option if that's what you're looking for.

Fantastic location, close to all the best sights and some great place to eat, but the room and bathroom were really dirty, shower cubicles were tiny and broken and the AC and WiFi advertised were terrible.

It is indeed a room. The stay comes with the soundtrack of a horror movie in the hallway. And don’t open up the windows. Just don’t.

Small Funny World is in the perfect location for exploration of the Acropolis and nearby museums and other sights. I stayed in a mixed dorm which was clean and spacious, but the bathrooms were small and not as nice. There's free towels, breakfast, sheets, pillows, and WiFi. However, be aware that it isn't a youth hostel.

I would have enjoyed it. But there were issues with other roommates. After a few complaints, the reception did not take any action.

All night very heavy techno music from near club. If you want a place for good rest sleep do not choose this hotel. The private room is overpriced - very poor equipment. Great location for sightseeing monuments and Nice reception stuff.

The ladies at reception has been super friendly, helpful, supportive, and just been awesome. The hostel is one of the better ones I've stayed at compared to many others. Mattresses were thick instead of thin with no support. Because of its location, it is very noisy with music blasting and people talking until the wee hours. Towels are lent for free. Showers are tiny but do you really need to do a song and dance as you shower? (Maybe not ideal for bigger people). Bathrooms and rooms are cleaned twice daily which is nice, since they're so many people in a room. (But no one can really clean body odor, can they.)

My friend and I were supposed to stay at this hostel. We arrived around 3.30 am and couldn’t find the hostel easily. When you have had a long trip, all you want is to find your place to stay as fast as possible. We checked in and the receptionist was friendly. We stayed at the 2nd floor. We didn’t want to wake anyone up, but that’s kinda difficult when the beds keep making noises. We got covers to put over the mattress (what they call covers: it is just a thin blanket.)We got covers for the pillows, decent material. We also got a thin blanket to sleep under. This just wasn’t enough cause it was freezing during the night. Each room has a bathroom, or at least a place you could pee and shower... The showers are small, with no lock and since that wasn’t enough, both toilets weren’t decent at all. One couldn’t flush and the other toilet was broken. I literally fell in the toilet. To add on, there were hairs in my friend’s bed so we decided to leave the hostel cause we couldn’t stay any longer. We checked out after check out time and got a refund. The girl was friendly but if the personnel is the only thing that is a positive aspect, I would think about closing my hostel.

I was pretty happy at the hostel. The staff on site were friendly and accommodating. Though there are some internal politics with the abscent owner, which because a problem for us over new year. The rooms are cleaned every day and sheets changed whenever you want them to be. You get a basic but sufficient breakfast. And if you get to know the staff well you may get the odd meal out of generosity. I really liked it there and stayed for a while. It's also fantastically positioned for major landmarks in the city.

Had bed bugs and had to change beds in the middle of the night and sleep in one bed with my gf. Spent one of two days in Athens completely washing all my stuff including back pack and had an allergic reaction to the bed bug bites. Still itchy 6 days later. Contacted to owner and they refunded our stay which was nice but after me asking for a compensation for the roughly 70 euros expenses we had to clean everything, ( not to mention the time effort. Try travelling trough Athens with all of your stuff in plastic bags cuz your backpack has to be professionally cleaned... No fun. ) they didn't reply anymore. Also don't think they would have gotten pest control the next day to actually take care of the infestation so if you happen to sleep in the bed I had. Have fun... Have to say that the front desk staff was nice and the owner did reply to me in the middle of the night when we had the problem. Still. Not worth it.

It was the worst hostel I have ever been by far. The receptionist was very kind but the place was dirty, old and the facilities a disaster. I don't recommend it

An aspect of hell, atmosphere is dire, everything is falling to pieces, my bed was exactly as the previous sleeper left it, when we got back at midnight after setting up our beds best we could with the various mismatched sheets provided, some random guy was sleeping in one of our beds. Hey at least room was airconditioned

Great little spot in the city centre of Athens! Rooms are big and spacious with lockers for everyone (remeber to carry your own lock) with showers and fresh sheets. Good price and amazing position. Maybe some better attention could be paid to cleaning of the common spaces.

Disgusting and unbearable, it was full of bed bugs and they stung my whole body, the beds and bedspreads were very old, the beds made a lot of noise with a very small movement and disturbed the sleep of others. And the old lady who works at the reception is very rude and disrespectfu. I don't recommend.
