Do not buy cherry at this market, you can not see what they will scoop out for you. We bought one scoop for 5 euros. All of the cherries are rotten and moldy. Cannot find single one which is normal and fresh.

Mad place, lots of stuff. Some things i wish I could bring home some is crapp, but this is a market, and either you like it or not. For me, it would be great to just walk around for my self and just spend time. Enjoy it...

You really have to go in the back for the antiques. The shops on the main road have regular clothing/ tourist things. This is a bit confusing. The nice antiques are the big pieces, especially the furniture, but it’s always about luck in flea markets. Also noticed a lot of vendors sell old wrist watches.

Nice place for shopping. Prices, service & selection was good. Most vendors speak English. Prices can vary from one vendor to the next but otherwise fair. At then end of the flea market is a popular Instagram photo opportunity if that's your type of thing. A short walk to Plaka, tourist items were better priced.

It's a neat walk, but I didn't see many sales.

Cheaper souvenir options available here for tourists. Do not expect too many quality options though, it's a quantity marketplace. We found some good outlets here for our spoils. Please do note that most shops here close by 9pm. Some good restaurant will still be open though so choose your poison...

Definitely the place to go if you want to find a souvenir, shop, or just people-watch. So many little nooks and side streets to explore. Even though most are generally selling the same touristy knick-knacks, it is still a lot of fun. There aren’t a lot of tourists/crowds as of yet, though the shop owners say that it has picked up a lot since last year. Lots of things to do in this area.

I love bargain hunting, but there are many shops with very similar Items, you have to really explore the nooks and crannies for unique items. They have areas with legit flea market set ups (rug and Items laid out to view like silverware, porcelain, etc. ) and some old book stores that are a total throwback. It does get packed so be prepared!

Awesome place, looking like "souks" in Athens. You will find everything you may need as a gift from Athens. Strongly appreciated ! Will definitely be back. Only drawback : sometimes shops holder are trying to push you to enter and buy their own products...

This is a very funky and worth visiting spot in Athens. If you stop by, you can visit Hadrians library, amazing architecture, and this amazing flea market, full of regional, authentic, and sometimes a vit tacky items. Make sure you look around before you buy anything . After you are done, you can give a bite in any of the nice restaurants nearby. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this market, especially the little coves where they sold antiques on tables. They have lots of booths and stores with new things but of course the antiques are what make it unique in the world. Allow an hour or three to really walk around and enjoy the sights. You’ll walk by Hadrian’s Library while shopping. Like nothing else in the world!

Loads of shops. They offer lots of souvenirs to buy, and food to eat. I would recommend walking one round first to compare the prices and quality before actually purchasing anything. Prices and quality varies from shop to shop.

Amazing place to spend a few hours. A few tourist shops and bodeags with cheap cute clothes, but the deeper you go into the maze of streets there are true antique sotres with furniture, records, nicknacks, historical items, art, etc.

We've always loved wandering through the flea market every time we're in Athens and have bought some really nice items. This time however it seemed to us that after covid , the asking prices were ridiculous as if the vendors didn't want to sell. Not in the main street but in the side street that opens out into a square. Shame, we've always enjoyed the experience, but not this time.

Nice area very close to the Acropolis. It’s a wonderful Flea market where you can buy literally everything and also enjoy the joys of haggling for price. You can walk from Monastiraki street to Plaka in 15 mins through some wonderful roads overlooking the Hadrian’s library while indulging in actual or window shopping. At Monastiraki, there is a nice Italian coffee shop selling some Greek snacks, both sweet and savoury, as well as some wonderful coffees. You can also see the Acropolis from the square.

It’s definitely meant to attract tourist but they have more than your common souvenirs. There were some unique stores but also some regular souvenirs shops with items you can get elsewhere. We found a unique store where we purchased a one of a kind metal sculpture. I would definitely recommend to spend some time here.

Good place to by souvenirs from Greece: t-shirts, magnets, keyring, decoration for the home...in summary ..all the very touristic souvenirs for a price much cheaper than in the airport. One point of attention: a local friend told me it was a bit dangerous at night (after 11pm) so if you are around at night be careful.

You can get everything you want here. We were there on Sunday and it was less crowed. We bought some magnet souvenirs from Alessandra (Αλεσάντρα in Greek hahaha) who was very very very nice to us, and I recommend you buy your souvenirs from her. I've uploaded a receipt of the souvenirs I bought from her containing the shop's phone number so call for directions and you won't regret it.

One of the most interesting and vibrant places you must visit during your stay in Athens is the Flea Market in Monastiraki. It is not really a flea market except on Sundays when some of the stores close and people bring tables and carpets and sell all kinds of stuff from useless junk to antiques. You have to get here early because after about 12 the crowd becomes impossible and if you want to take a break it's difficult to find available table at the many cafes and restaurants in the area. Since ancient times, the wider area around Monastiraki hosted the central commercial and economic traffic of the city. Thus, during the Archaic times there was the Ancient Market, during the Roman times the Roman market, while during the Frankish and Turkish times the Staropazaro and the Old Market on Mitropoleos Street

So many stores that cover everything you could possibly need as a tourist. Some cheaper than others so don’t go for the first thing you see. If you can’t find the t-shirt you want in your size or print, some stores are able to print one for you on the spot in a matter of minutes at no additional cost.

Decent, but as with many flea markets aimed at tourists there was a strong presence of items available on Ali Express.

An excellent place to grab a few items representing to others that you have been to Greece/Athens/Abroad. You can also pick up some good deals. I picked up some sunglasses for €8. Food is middle of the road but you will pay a large sum for it. If you like to drink a lot, there are some great places here and the nightlife is set up for you to regret tomorrow morning.

Lots of shops selling beautiful local stuff. Great for tourists to buy souvenirs and gifts. Clothes, shoes, leather, ceramics, traditional dresses, textiles, etc.

Amazing choice of options - bags, shoes, dresses, you name it, the market has it. But please ensure that you are carrying cash. They accept cards, but you are in no position to haggle and negotiate but cash can easily give you 10% off.

Great market with heaps of stalls and proper shops, as well as lots of cafes and restaurants. Loads of buskers set up playing great music and singing. Tourist hot spot and very central to public transport. Locals are all very friendly and accommodating, with everyone knowing atleast some English at the very least.

Tourists will definitely find gifts here and probably something for yourself. It's a stop on the sight seeing bus route and also the Metro Underground.

Super cool outdoor market, you can find a lot of cool things and clothes. But at the same time I found the clothes for what they were overpriced. They were selling really nice rock tees that are essentially screen printed on fruit of the loom tees and selling them from 25-34 euros. Kind of a rip off for some knock off tees. They had cool vintage leather jackets going anywhere between 150-600 euro.

Festive market. Open all day even Sunday. The best place to shop gifts, clothes, even traditional rare Greek stuff if you walk around for a while.

The market is amazing for the collection and variations it has. You can buy almost everything here of varying quality depending on what you want to buy. Pros : 1. Great Shops and Lively people. 2. Amazing collection of items. Cons : 1. Too many dark alleys and sometimes you are not confident to proceed. 2. The moment they see a tourist i believe they give high price.

  • 4/5 Christoforos Y. 2 years ago on Google
Great place for fast shopping... The only thing is that it's all about negotiating there so you need to be careful of what you pay. Generally all items are marked up 25%

  • 5/5 2T O. 1 year ago on Google
The flee was very nice! It is located exactly on the exit of the metro at monastiraki Station so texi is not needed to arrive there. There are all kinds of things to buy like gifts and t-shirt, Ice cream and such. It is not that big of a market tho. I strongly recommend if you visit there to stop eat pizza near by at a place called "18:35", its on the other side of the road, best pizza i ever ate and the view to the acropolis is amazing.
