Have been at Birdman twice in the course of 8 months (October 2020 and May 2021) so had the opportunity to try different dishes (I assume they vary depending the seasonality of ingredients). The food is arguably some of the best food in the city center, especially since it’s located in a very touristic part of town (where the risk of being just average is high). The menu is limited, but the focus is on the quality of the ingredients. Unfortunately, during both visits some of the dishes we wanted to try were not available, which really limits you as the menu is small. Between the two visits, we tried several dishes from the menu that were available and overall they were very good. The meat-on-a-skewer dishes were exceptionally tasty, however the chicken felt on the overcooked side and the chunks really too big for a single bite. That was not the case for the rest of the meat skewers. Also, there were some issues with consistency: we ordered the same skewer twice and while first time round it was cooked to perfection, Second time round was cooked longer resulting in a much smaller (reduced/less juicy) outcome. There were some issues with the timing: when ordering as a group of 3 during the second visit, the two burgers came at the same time, but the skewers the 3rd person ordered started to arrive about 5-10 minutes later and not all of them came at the same time. This means that either two people get to watch their food go cold as they wait for the 3rd person’s food, or they start eating and the other person sits and watches. During the first visit, the skewers would be arriving at much better timing and they would be grouped. Also, while the bar seating setup is fine, the leg space under the tables is really too narrow for two people to sit side by side. While the food is overall really really good so, value for money in terms of quality, it but less so in terms of quantity and overall experience. It’s certainly going to Birdman once and be willing to spend the extra money, but I probably won’t go again given the inconsistencies in cooking and serving timings.

Alright, let’s dive into this one. The food here is seriously intriguing. We’re talking fresh ideas that range from good to excellent. And they know how to work those ingredients, making sure they scream quality. Service? Well, that’s a standout. The staff brings a unique blend of friendliness and genuine attentiveness. No pretentious vibes, just good knowledge of the menu. But now, let’s address the elephant in the room - the location. The interior is a bit tight, and the exterior vibes are a bit rough due to the neighborhood. Garbage, potential pickpockets, and beggars do make an appearance. Look, you’re not showing up for the scenery. And that plays a part in the prices. The food quality? No complaints there. But the higher prices? Hmm, not so justified. So, full disclosure time. Maybe I was too quick on the draw with those five stars. But here’s the kicker: I’ll be coming back. Why? The food and the attentive service are the real deal. Call it a gut decision. So, 5 stars it is, even if it’s not the full package in every aspect.

Went to this place after about two years of listening some friends saying how great this restaurant is, but unfortunately our high expectations were not met… The stuff was great and everybody was very friendly and polite and did their best. But the food is another story and far from great… we tried many different things, some were bad, some were ok, some were good, but only the gyoza beef was great…! If I go again it will only be for cocktails (they were great) and for gyoza beef…! As a restaurant it feels a bit dirty and definitely doesn’t meat the standards for its price tag…(110 euros for two people)

The best staff I have met in Athens. They have very good Asian food and also you can find the drinks with alcohol. Especially they have a lot of Japanese whiskies on their menu. The lady who take care of us (her name is Vasia), if you go to this place you need to find her. We have never seen that much friendly staff in Athens as more than her.

Just WOW. This place is amazing. My family of 8 reserved two tables for 4 people each for lunch, and they accommodated us in one outdoor table. The service is incredible. All waiters are so nice, and explain everything. Thoughtful and careful of each detail. The food is even better! I posted some pictures for inspiration, but everything was great! Will definitely come back!!

This place was off the chain and best joint I ate at in Athens. Seriously the food was divine and the drinks were unreal. What also tipped the scales was the cool dj flipping records and dropping absolute bangers (chilled bangers). Seriously though, I was fuming it was my last night otherwise I would have gone every night of my stay. CHECK THIS PLACE you won’t regret it!

The beef tataki wasn't fresh as I had diarrhea after eating. The sauce was strong and has covered the original taste of the beef. The chicken was nice.. duck isn't nice without their sauce. I don't think a restaurant that isn't willing to take feedback is a good restaurant.

This place is special. Capital S Special. Every single thing we've ever ordered has been prepared to perfection - and we've been there 5 or 6 times now. We've been in there in the afternoon and in the evening and they've never had an off night. The cocktails are inventive and unique (in a good way) and the food is always superb. Highly recommended.

Birdman is located in the heart of Athens, near Syntagma Square. It’s a Japanese gastro bar featuring mostly meat dishes. Flavors are Japanese. Guests can seat both inside and outside in the busy street. I would recommend the bar. Best plates: the Sando, tartare, tataki, wagyu grill PS: Take into account that Birdman is not cheap. This place is located next to a very busy and noisy road. We were advised by the waiter to protect our valuables, due to thefts, which was nice. We were sitted in a very tiny table with very limited space unfortunately. The waiter was polite and took enough time to explain the menu details. We decided to try some beef Gyoza and Wagyu bites. It took quite some time before the Gyoza arrived, which is understandable as it is freshly made while the rest of the dishes followed one by one slowly. Everything was tasty, properly cooked and offered a unique flavour. The portions were extremely small though and the prices didn't reflect the size. 2 pieces of beef sushi that was smaller than my thumb cost 8 euros. All in all, the food is high quality but also high price for the amount given and in a bad location. There are better choices just around the corner really.

Excellent food and drinks. Very popular restaurant, so make a reservation in advance. Service is ok, it can be very slow. We were a big group so we ordered quite a lot from the menu but my absolute favourite were the tataki and ibérico Katsu. The sitting is a little uncomfortable and receiving the food took way longer than expected compared to what has been experienced in other restaurants. Drinks are very very good as well - go for the martini only if you like very very strong drinks. If not, the one with cucumber or the spritz are very good options!

Very nice food, with attention to detail. But, as is, seemingly, the norm in "fine dining", you get small portions which are rather expensive. Not my style. A little treasure in the city center. Birdman is a Japanese pub with high quality food which is affected from Japan. Meat is organic and free ranged and with the combination of Japanese ingredients it is something surprisingly delicious!!! We tasted a lot of dishes and it’s really difficult to decide the best. Although do not miss Katsu and Japanese carbonara!!! We had a great time and we will go back for sure!

Some amazing wine on the little list (Ligas) but absolutely nothing cool and fun by the glass, only clean and conservative stuff, very boring. The food is overpriced even if they use fresh and local produce. The finished products in your plate are not as tasty like it should be. The ingredients are the right one but again, it doesn't work. Dry, overcooked, no flavor. The service is impersonal, you are a number. Only the lovely hostess has a smile and seems to have a bit of fun. Forget the bartender and the lined cook, they don't care. Instead make yourself a favor, go at Heteroclyto for your daily fix of natural wine, amazing selection at honest price(also for take away) and then find yourself a proper local bistro outside this area and you'll be happier at the end. The dessert was amazing as well! I would love to visit again!

An absolutely lovely spot in central Athens with delicious food. The space is super small so you will definitely need to book a table before attempting to go. They had a lot of options of small plates to try and you should not miss for the life of you the pork sando and their beef nigiris. The quality of the food was excellent and the cocktails were very different yet so delicious. We had an absolute blast. The staff was knowledgeable of the menu and they could make very food recommendations.

Birdman is a great choice to combine drinks and finger-food sized portions following work or a stroll in down-town Athens. Once you manage to bypass menu complexity (due to Japanese elements that might be unfamiliar in first visit) you will experience plenty options of skewers and bowls served in meze/tapas fashion. There might have been some execution mishaps but it was a great experience overall. Don’t forget to ask for possible out-of-menu dishes, we found some gems during our last visit. Friendly service and punctuality of booking is a big plus.

People there are great. Its a bit expensive, but worth it. Its usually full booked, so I recommend to reserve a few days earlier.

There is a wide variety of small cuts, cooked to perfection. I highly recommend a visit here for those who are not scared to try out something more than a typical filet meat. The only reason for the 4 stars (instead of 5) is because some of the menu options were not available (which, in itself is not a problem - prefer to not have something available vs. having it but not being top quality) and from those that we did sample, the second order was not consistently cooked to perfection as in the first order: was overcooked, so less juicy, less tasty, less fatty, and less volume. Otherwise, this is a must for any self respecting meat eater, especially those who follow a keto diet.

The skewers are a must and you will see pretty quickly by the menu that it’s the place’s specialty. We tried a mix of different skewers and they were all great, but honestly not very filling. I also work in a wine bar and I think as a rule if a bottle costs more than 30 euros its essential to give a heads up to the client as a matter of principle. Apart from that everything was lovely.

It would have been more professional to warn us in advance - we would have cancelled. Thankfully they had a second option of an outdoor table at the back of the restaurant which worked out fine. Will return but define where we sit with our booking next time. Expensive for Greece but worth it (assuming acceptable seating).

Absolutely floored by this Japanese restaurant, Birdman - Japanese Pub + Grill. All the beef was wagyu, the spare ribs were fantastic, the beef nagiri was amazing, and on and on. Soooooo good.

As a Japanese I wouldn’t say it’s the most authentic Japanese food, but if you are craving Japanese food they have some good yakitori (skewers) and meat sushi. I cannot approve of their rice though…it was pretty hard (maybe not fresh) It would be better if they use a better quality rice cooker or rice🍚
