The National Theatre of Greece is housed in a beautiful neo-classical building on a major Athens throughfare. Most plays are in Greek.

My favorite theater in Athens. The building is amazing and the time you spend there always with hight quality. The area is not that safe but it worth it. Take the metro and choose omonia metro station. It is like 2’ walking from there. Do not hesitate to take an outside photo and of course to enjoy any event, just to realize the unique feeling. Sometimes there are offers on the tickets.

A great neoclassical building that houses exceptional quality performances. The construction of the building was started in 1891 and completed a few years later. It was designed by the architect Ernst Ziller and the facade of the building was inspired by the Hadrian's Library. Tickets are inexpensive and definitely deserves a visit. The majority of the plays have English subtitles.

Nice location with good organization. The view was from the upper rows exceptional. The stage decoration and usage was nice and well conducted. The sound and light was also proper. So the overall experience in the location was great and can only be recommended from my side.

Very nice space considering its age. We saw king Lear and it was an interesting take on the classic script by Shakespeare. The only downside I can mention is that the seats are old and too small for anyone to remain comfortable over a two and half hours of a play

Tried to go by car. The nearby Parking ¨Παρης´ was closed on a December Saturday night so we returned back as the whole area is very dangerous. You feel like your life is threatened. This area is awful and you feel like you are not in Greece but in a ghetto criminal area of drug dealing. Pity such a beautiful and historic place is situated there...

If you are a little late you get seated on seats which view 1/3 if the stage. Too harsh, anyone could be late. I go to the theater to enjoy myself not to get anxious or punished

A fantastic building of unique architecture. A real gem in the heart of Athens. Its café could also become of the same standards. A great pity having to drink your wine out of a paper glass! A complete disappointment!

Saw L' impresario delle Smirne of Carlo Goldoni. An excellent implementation in Greek language of course. A true example that comedy does not need swearing and vulgarity. Had a great lough throughout and the cast played impeccably an expertly directed performance. Plays like this only remind us that mankind's basic qualities and values driving society are roughly the same through the centuries. Only the canvas in the background is different.....

Although I didn't like the play "Peer Gynt", I really like the theather, the seats and their Brasserie. The subtitles in English were not always really synched, but it was OK in order to understand the play.

Seats a bit uncomfortable. Great performance by all cast. Good acoustics.

Beautiful architecture, nicely renovated keeping the old glamor, always with highbstandard theater plays.

It not a big and need one good cleaning to be more bright. It have planty talented actors. But I expect more classical way to show the great original. For example, directly for me interpretation of Shakespeare was too modern and great meaning was put down by flat sexual moving of actors. Anyway, my recommendation firstly read at what interpretation it will be and after go (mostly with children, who better to grow on more original version). Actors are pure talented and place is beautiful and not a big. What to see deside by yourself

Bad performance of Shakespeare's work, pointless use of video technology, the so-called modernisms were destroying the magic. Shame on the actors who tried to support such productions.

The main stage has a good oldfashioned vibe that surely works. The foyer, however, didn't match the atmosphere, nor the aesthetics.

1st part very boring and slow! Mr. Pantazaras is the actor that gives life to the play. Excellent actor!

A nice sample of early 20th century architecture. Unfortunately as a living organisation has to recover a lot from the chock nowdays suffering Greek theatrical scene is passing through. It's very disappointing to realise that supporting personnel have lost the spiritual mentality of a theatrical institution must be characterized. Accidental bad incidents do happen, a profound indication that sensitivity has been permanently lost from Greek's main scene. A good time distance from the performance seems to be the only solution.

Absolutely wonderful. Got the chance to visit today and it was amazing. Loved the acting and the music. Not to mention the interior design was stunning and I'm glad it's wheelchair accessible aswell. Would recommend and will definitely visit again soon.

Just watched a magnificent adaptation of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in Greek with English supertitles. A great show in every sense! Great performances, costumes, props and a live band!! with a Grand piano, playing on a submerging stage!
