The shala of Ashtanga Yoga Athens(The Original) is the oldest place for ashtanga yoga in Athens (omstudio.gr). It is a 15years shala that has managed to have all the rules that you just need so that your mind stays out of your practice. A really quiet place with the just energy that you need so that you can focus on your own self and body. Is the place that, even if mrs.Eleptheria has an Authorization of Level I from KPJAYI, you are not going for the teacher(s). Is about the energy that has been created from all the dedicated practitioners and the real ashtanga teachers that had come to this place, that make you understand your real self and push you to do a true practice.

Elefteria inspires me to follow the Ashtanga path, this traditional way that is taught in Mysore. Awesome place!

If you want to immerse in the authentic method of ashtanga yoga, this is the place! The shala is full of energy and Eleftheria and her assistants are superb teachers and persons as well...The most original ashtanga place in the city for newbies and experienced practitioners!

Words cannot describe my gratitude for this yoga studio and its amazing instructors. Each instructor brought something special to their classes and we enjoyed them all. Leading the pack is Eleftheria who may be the coolest person in the world. We were only able to stay in Athens for two months but Eleftheria gave us suggestions on where to go next so that we can continue on the right path. When we joined this studio we were practicing yoga for the physical benefits on and off. By the time we left we completely fell in love with ashtanga and everything about this amazing place. It was my first experience with Mysore style classes and we have been to two different gyms since, I will always miss this one. It is perfect for beginners (like me) but clearly also very popular with high level practitioners. If we ever come back to Athens this place will be our first stop. This picture faces the back of the studio, I tried to catch the pink light that blasts through but an image will never do it justice.

I have such fond memories of this studio when I lived in Athens. Eleftheria is such a lovely, caring and strong soul and I feel blessed to have been her student and to be able to spend my mornings here breathing and practicing. I was also lucky enough to be here at one of Eddie Stern’s visits to the shala, and the entire workshop was organised in such a wonderful way that I still smile thinking of the good times and the wealth of knowledge that was shared.

This yoga shala is not just a perfectly organised and beautiful place to practice, but also a supportive, positive environment. The love for the traditional ashtanga method is passed on to the students in a very honest and direct way, coming from the heart. Eleftheria recognises through her dedicated practice, not just the asana aspect, but also thd emotional and mental state of each practitioner, each day. This is a rare gift for a teacher... The mentality of the shala follows the principle that every person has their own special individuality, respected and honoured. No violence, no one-fits-all attitude. I'm grateful this place exists!

Beautiful studio! Large, plenty of room to change and sit. There's even a little kitchen and fridge. They were generous enough to allow my yoga retreat group to take a private class there.

I can't begin to describe how unique and authentic this Shala is. All the teachers carry that same empathetic unassuming energy with them. It always feels safe & welcoming. If you are looking for a calm, focused practice far away from all the frills of insta-yoga this is definitely the place for you.
