😠 It's 3rd world like, dirty, everyone is rude and unhelpful and it's overall unfit for a European capital. Our subway stations in contrast are spotless and new. This abomination should be demolished and built at a more convenient location with the same standards. People often mention station, time, Athens, ticket, Greece, taxi, stations, good, buses,

As a service it offers a lot of different roads and destinations, I love KTEL, but as a structure and surrounding it's horrible. Not KTEL's fault, but rather the infrastructure of Athens itself. I had to go out of the station on foot. I never went through such a mess... ever. Pedestrians are treated as trash and there is no sidewalk anywhere in the next 500m. Taxis are piling on top of one another and on top of you. It was really horrible getting out of this stop. Signs weren't helpful too. Cars going through the stop were making things harder even on the inside.

I have been too many bus stations, this is one of the better ones. It is quite large, very busy, but they have a big sign posted in a very prominent place that tells you all the cities that they go to in which platforms they leave from. The information stand people spoke good enough English to give me direction, so overall it's a good place to get used to.

The bus terminal is not very visible from main road. Almost thought I got the location wrong. Bus number 420 will get you here if you're coming from the Piraeus port. Basic terminal with sufficient signboard. There's also a few mini market for you to stock up water and food.

Really terrible place, a true disgrace for Athens. Greek gov if you are reading this, you need a better bus station that doesn't resemble 3rd world.

The worst area to be found in. There is no security (serveillance) cameras and all surrounded by thieves. Upon arriving to the stations, I had my wallet lifted while trying to get my luggage out of the bus. I was in a rush to catch the other bus to the airport to catch a flight. Travellers BE AWARE there is no police surveillance at all. When approaching some sort of security person to report my wallet was stollen. His response (in a stupid smirk). you got nabbed? good luck catching them. Look around the garbage bins as they (the pick pockets) most likely took the cash and cards and dumped the wallet in the garbage. My issue was not the loss of a wallet. Mu issue was the fact that it felt like a violation of my personal space.

Athens Greece central bus terminal North, East, West, South. This is where you find a bus to all directions. Place is very old and never modernized . There is no visible sign letting you no that you arrived anyways place is convenient and lots of coffee shops and snack shops available.

Nothing appears to have changed in this area since the 1980s. However, once you've located the station and bus you require, the buses are dependable and will get you to your destination. I travel to Kalamata with KTEL several times a year and I have nothing to complain about. The buses have always been on time. If you are heading to the bus station from the centre of Athens, you can save yourself the taxi fare to the KTEL station by taking the municipal bus line no 051 from the stop Εθνικο Θεατρο (Ethniko Theatro) -the stop is near Omonia.

It's a pretty grim bus terminal (as of Aug 2022). I hear they are building a new one soon. Almost all the signage is in Greek, and it's not clear where you have to go. Was bounced around from ticket office to ticket office (each bus company has their own), and it was confusing. I'd bought my ticket online and had (what I thought was) the e-ticket with a QR Code. When I tried to board the coach they told me I needed a paper ticket so had to go to the ticket office to have it printed out and then I could board. Having travelled around Asia, I'd say this was as chaotic as a bus terminal in provincial Thialand or Vietnam. If you don't speak Greek, I'd suggest you getting there at least 45 minutes before departure so that you make it without too much stress.

Over the last 50 years or so this place has remained the same. A third world bus station might be even better than this. Looking for information? Looking for a parking lot? Looking for a waiting hall? Looking for a quiet reading or eating corner? Looking for sun? Tough luck! The sooner this strain is relocated, the better for everyone.

Total disgrace for the city the country and public transport in general. A stinky place in a dangerous neighborhood. People that work there have no manners. Taxi drivers will always try to cheat you and heavily overcharge you. The coffe place is the worst possible, expensive and poor quality. Wish I could give 0 stars.

It’s a mess! There is no parking and you have to leave your car wherever you find, if you find! Then you have to walk a lot to pick up the one that come. And if it’s raining.. then good luck! Those facilities should be outside Athens in a place close to public transport. Easy access is the key!

Rudest most obnoxious people working here! Absolutely no manners treating you like they're doing you a favour! Be thankful you plebs have a job. It's a tourist industry, your disgraceful behaviour is a great way to lose the tourists that pay your wages! Wake up you fools...a good attitude and a smile do not cost anything.

    - Dirty place! - No metro near to bus station. - Bad connection with city bus. That's all built in order to TAXI drivers gain money from travelers 💰💰

The place is easy enough to get to. Helpful staff. There are some beggers though and they are very persistent so be ready to be resolute and firm. Make sure to watch your things.

This is the place where heart of (half of Greece) transportation beats(along with "Liosion" bus station and "stathmos Larisis" train station) .So it's located in the right place, where two main national routes meet(to Thessaloniki and Peloponnese). Buses come and go from/to many places, so it's always crowded. Before judging the functionality and condition of the premises we have to consider that it was initially functioned back in 1967 where things where way different from today's.From a point of view this delivers a "retro" feeling wondering there as many things remain unchanged and an image of Athens(as well af the areas it serves) still remains in the eyes of visitor of these days. The fact that a relocation to a much larger area is scheduled ("Eleonas" project) makes us waiting for a huge upgrade in transportation and passenger experience.

It is better to get a ticket online in order to avoid waiting for long. Also be careful for beggars

Not suitable for the central bus station of a big city like Athens. Small, without proper facilities. Information provided to visitors and potential travelers is inadequate. Departure are usually on time, but arrival times are frequently off the mark and completely unreliable. A general sense of decay is present all around.

Busy functional place, built to get somewhere else. Should I pass through the place again I will take my time to figure out how to use public transport instead of just getting off the bus after 12 hours and picking the first taxi on offer. An entirely forgettable occasion both sides cannot possibly have enjoyed.

The bus left on time for Kavala, people are doing their best, we are waiting to see the change from a 3rd world bus station to a European one. One thing to mention is the wonderful geek double coffee I purchased from the station's all day open shop (to my great surprise).

Worst bus station I've ever been to. Broken, dirty, noisy, messy. Even though private vehicle are not allowed inside, people just drive in and out in random directions at high speeds. Greece's capital (and the people visiting it) deserves much better.

Athens Buss station is middle of no where. By taxi only 20 min, where I live but If you want to use Tram or Metro, you need over 1 hour. To Ho there. You can't buy tickets from one place, you have to slect certain place, depending where you are going. I Just wonder, what has Been The reason to built that kind of Area? Nice to know🤔

It used to be worse. It's cleaner now, and the buses run usually time. The food is pretty bad, but there is a cute and cheap bookstore. Shady vibes, especially during the night, because of some weird individuals going around with intentions of stealing. It's not a good area, so mind your belongings.

One of Athens' coach stations. Hopefully it will move soon to a better location, nearer the Elaionas metro station. At present from the metro station there is a bus every 20', or you need to walk in a dodgy area for ~25' or you can try your luck with the buses on Kifissos avenue or take a taxi. Be there on time (i.e. min 20' earlier, more if you are uncertain where your coach is). Take into account there is usually heavy traffic on the avenues leading to the coach station. It performs its basic function.

It's a busterminal...what do you expect? They have an information desk and several "ticketbooths"...and our bus with aircondition almost followed the timetable.

This is a big and busy bus station, has many platforms so if you are catching a bus first time from here maybe reach with bit if buffer time to be able to navigate. If you are coming in a bus and planning to take a taxi there is a queue of taxis but they don't go by meter and usually ask more than double the fare - we saw that happening only to us as we are tourists. A few of them came to us and ganged up on us when we said it takes half the price. They very clearly told this is bus stand so the price is higher. We ended up taking one anyway as we had a lot of luggage. Location is relatively central so if you walk out if you can you may get an Uber at a better price. There might be food joints inside the station but I did not get a chance to look around much.

A transport hub for the whole of Greece with modern specifications and low ticket costs, especially in their online services. It is recommended for an economical trip to various destinations in Greece with ease of transportation

Helpful staff, buses on time and all sorts of little shops and cafes/restaurants around. The 3 stars is for the conditions of the bathrooms. They are not the cleanest and they don't even offer paper, which is shameful for the KTEL Bus station for the biggest city in Greece, especially considering that other, smaller stations in smaller cities are way more organised. I had to use the cafeteria's bathroom, which was very old too but it at least offered paper!

Central bus station with bus routes to all of Greece. There are some inexpensive eateries located there and some gift stores and bookstores. There is a bus line, 52, that goes to the center of Athens and one X93 that goes to the airport.

I live 15 minutes away from the station, my whole life I was using it to go to a lot of places around Greece. I like the fact that you can go to so many places from one station, but the location is bad, you can’t walk away safely, there aren’t any sidewalks for around 400-500m. You can take a taxi or a bus from there but by foot the closest metro station is Aghios Antonios and that’s 1.5km away on bad sidewalks and roads. If these facts aren’t something you really care then have a great trip ✨

Beware, don't get on a taxi from inside the station, they are part of an illegal ring. Just get out of the station and order a taxi from an app like Free Now, which is much safer and cheaper.

While the bus drivers were very nice and helpful to us , the same can't be said about the employees over at the ticket booth.(It seemed even the bus drivers were accustomed to their rude behaviour when I told them about their service). The bathroom wasn't dirty and there's cleaners on standby(at least during the times I've been there). It's sadly not that organised but there's signs hanging from the ceiling separating the busses by the region they'll be traveling to (hard to read If you've got eyesight problems).Let it be known that there's a bus that can take you straight to the nearest metro station (052 if I'm not mistaken )and another that will take you to the airport(I think you might need a special ticket for that one). These mini buses have come in handy many times but waiting time can be rather long if you're in a pinch(less than 30 mins for the first one ).This place gets the job done but definitely lacks in amenities and service compared to other bus stations in Greece and Europe overall.
