On the slopes of the Acropolis are several shrines that played a vital role in the religious life of the ancient Athenians. Archaeological excavations carried out during the unification work of the archaeological sites in Athens have revealed, to the intersection of two ancient roads, an underground chamber accessible through a door-shaped opening. The excavations reveal frescoes and a mosaic related to the architectural styles of late antiquity. At close range above the camera, part of the "Eastern Road" can be seen, the remains of two houses with a system of underground cisterns. The cult of Pan in the caves in the 5th century BC. is well documented in the ancient city.

(Translated by Google) Although access is not possible, as long as it is there and we can walk to see it. I read a review below that it is nothing special. It may be for some (nothing special) but it is for us. It is our history, it is the holy soil and the holy stones of all our ancestors. The sanctuary is dug into the natural rock and accessible through a carved doorway. Excavation inside the chamber brought to light a relief carved directly into the natural rock on the northern wall of Panos, a Nymph and a dog. On the rock face to the left of the entrance there are frescoes and in front of them a mosaic floor that are associated with structures of late antiquity (Original) Αν και η πρόσβαση δεν είναι δυνατή αρκεί που υπάρχει εκεί και μπορούμε περπατώντας να το βλέπουμε.

(Translated by Google) Banish the peddlers and my hapless musicians and show off the ancients as they deserve and create events according to our unique history. The whole area around the Acropolis was supposed to be sacred and not like now a poorly constructed bazaar where anyone can do what they want after all, it is the heart of Athens, it should be treated more seriously.

The history of Athens is seriously amazing. How much empires achieved and what they built without the technology we've today.

The history of Athens is amazing. The achievements of that era incredible! Υou will see the Sanctuary of Pan near to the Fountain of Pnyx going down the Apostolou Pavlou pedestrian street, on a very beautiful walking path from the Akropolis to Thiseio. A rock-cut, underground chamber, accessible through a door-shaped opening chiselled directly on the bedrock, was revealed after excavations. On the north wall is a relief, chiselled directly on the bedrock, presenting Pan, a nymph and a dog. Pan was the god of fields, mountains, flocks and wild nature in general. It had the head and torso of a man, the feet of a goat, horns and pointed ears. According to Greek mythology he was born in the mountains of Arcadia. His father was Hermes and his mother was a nymph. When his mother saw him, she was frightened by his appearance and abandoned him. Hermes saw the scene, took him in his arms and took him to Olympus, where the gods welcomed him. The access is not available for the public, it is visible from the pedestrian road.

Picturesque place on the Hill of the Muses or also called Monte Filopapo. It's just one of the places to visit on the hill in front of the Acropolis (Hill of the Muses or Monte Filopapo) which has many cool places to see and the best view of the Acropolis you'll find. As the monuments are very deteriorated, it is a place unexplored by tourists and there is no admission fee, you can wander around freely as if it were a park and that is what makes the place special. But at the same time there isn't much information, there are few loose signs explaining the remains of old buildings and places, so it might be more interesting to hire a guide if you want more information.
