Blame the Sun was a place I'd left until the end of our trip, set under a bulky concrete slab of a building, was this taproom blasting out punk-rock classics, with people spilling out into the streets basking in the mild evening. It's a small but refined spot, micro-pub-esque, the good quality beer options and friendly service are what warrants a full length review of sorts. On tap, 9 local beers and 1 cocktail, a fridge stocked with neighbouring European breweries and Greek ones, a ton of merch and a cocktail cabinet to satisfy those not wanting something hoppy. I had Falifornia by nearby @paragonbrewerysouthathens, Jasmine by neighbouring @strangebrewathens and Black Hole which I think is by @blamethesunbrewing themselves (although Untappd isn't the most accurate here). All as good as anything you'd get in the UK or even the US, some well balanced beers that flew down too easily.

They were just opening up as we arrived so we probably got in their way, but the beer was great! And the staff were helpful despite our timing. It's quite small but there is inside and outside seating. Prices are pretty good and there's a good range of styles available. Very good taproom.

7 beers plus 1 drink on tap - I've tried 6 different beers and they were all good, some were extraordinary (the lagers!). There's also a vast selection of bottles in the fridge and some crisps - I haven't tried them, but they all looked good. The staff is friendly, but seems to be more focused on the local clients, which is totally understandable as the place is not that tourist-centred. You can sit inside, which can be a relief on a hot day (AC) or outside in the street with a really authentic atmosphere.

Excellent beer with delightfully friendly staff. Nice atmosphere with some seating outside. There are beers that you can buy to go and there are also several beers on tap. All unique and all very flavorful.

Okish beer taproom to stop by for a fresh beer sip, however place could be better organized. There is a space inside, however almost no tables at the ground floor. Too much smoke and bad ventilation. Beer is good, but more varieties would be better ... Decorations are fun.

Beautiful little Taproom and bottleshop. The guy behind the bar gave us samples of all the beers on tap and they were all quite good. We then bought the tropic ale, lager and stout. There are also some spirits, snacks and wines you can buy. I totally recommend this place.

A lovely taproom to find. Staff were really friendly, and offered samples of everything on offer on the tap. Really nice feel, and the beers were amazing.

Great little taproom in Syngrou Fix, we went after an afternoon at EMST and spent a couple of hours there. Delicious selection of beers on tap and a whole load more in the fridge - we really enjoyed the stout, the sour and their own lager brewed in Larisa (they even gave us a free bottle!) Will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Amazing tap room in Athens and definitely worth a visit if you are a craft beer fan. They have a great range of tap beers and also in the beer fridge. Staff are very friendly and will share their wisdom and also provide a little taster The plastic cups don't takeaway away from the beer

Stumbled across this place after a long amble around Athens. Top quality craft beer taproom with a wide selection of awesome beers. Ended up taking away some bottles to for our inwards journey 🙌🏼👊

Very hospitable, lovely staff and great range of items for sale (I bought some chili sauce and a t-shirt). They have some of their own on tap beer which is really interesting, exceptional and tasty. I've been enjoying some of Athens classic beer, but these guys are up by a good few notches. Not only do they champion other breweries, they also brew four of their own, delightful beers themselves. Well worth checking out, ask for a taste!

This was one of our last stops on our Athens adventure and it turned out to be one of the best! The beer was lovely and I'm glad they had a cocktail on tap for my hop-adverse partner. The folk pouring beer were knowledgeable and excited to share their passion with recommendations of both things they brew and the guest beers in the bottle case. The merch was fun and well designed, and the feel of the space was welcoming despite it being on the smaller side. We grabbed a seat outside and got to talk with some of the other patrons and watch people walk by.

One of the highlights of our trip to Athens. These guys are the friendliest people we’ve met. They took the time to help us basically plan an entire itinerary of things to do both in and out of Athens, with lots of suggestions for things more off the traditional path. On top of that, an excellent selection of Greek and international craft beers, including their own brews which were perfect for summer but I’m sure they’d have an awesome selection in winter too. You can grab some takeaway food and bring it in to have a very relaxed night with excellent beer, great music, and better conversation. τέλειος.

The beer was very good and the service exceptional. They are proud of their beers and should be! Staff are knowledgeable and accommodating even though I speak very little Greek. Will return again for sure. Enjoyed talking with staff and locals on site

Good Taproom in a nice neighborhood. They have on tap their own beers and fridges with a good selection of micro breweries. Price for their beer could have been just a little cheaper. Also serving all beers of this good quality in plastic cups is not good for the taste but for the environment too. There is inside also a nice arcade machine. Stuff is very polite and down to earth

Welcome to the world of "Blame the Sun Taprooms" in Athens – where the sun's blazing but the beers are ice cold, and the vibe is as chill as a surfer riding a wave. Walking in, you're hit with that unmistakable surfer atmosphere – it's like they transported a beachside shack right into the heart of Athens. The walls are adorned with surfboards, the music's got that mellow sway, and the air practically smells of sea salt and adventure. But let's cut to the chase – the beers. These aren't your average brews; they're like liquid courage for anyone wanting to take on the tides. Each sip is a promise of escape, a journey to a world where worries are left behind with each gulp. From IPAs that hit you like a wave to lagers that calm your soul, the taps are like portals to a surfers' paradise. And the vibe – it's laid-back in a way that makes you forget about deadlines, traffic, and all those other landlocked worries. You'll find yourself tapping your feet to the rhythm of the ocean as you sip on your cold one. It's a haven for those who want to embrace the spirit of the sea without ever leaving the city. So, whether you're a seasoned surfer or just someone looking for a taste of that carefree coastal life, "Blame the Sun Taprooms" is where it's at. The cold beers flow like the waves, the surfer vibe is as genuine as a shaka sign, and for a moment, you'll swear you can hear the distant call of seagulls and the crash of the ocean. It's a trip to the beach without ever leaving Athens – and let me tell you, it's a trip worth taking.

Friendly place & great beer selection but very smokey because the door is always open and smokers standing on the doorstep. If you want equally good beer selection without the smoke problem, the Strange Brew taproom is close. E18.50 for 2 beers & a pack of chips.

Excellent Tap Room! Met the co-founder Angelos and had an awesome time having a great selection of beers. It is a small place with outside seating, but it is just a great chill vibe. I will definitely be stopping by the next time I am in Athens! Cheers, Angelos!

Fun decor but I feel they could do a little more with the inside space - a few more tables perhaps. Beer was solid but I’d really prefer them to get glassware instead of single use plastic cups. A surf themed bar should perhaps try to save the oceans a little more ;)

Nice but with few exceptions: - craft beer served in plastic is unaccepable - please go to Ikea and purchase some basic beer glass at least. - customer doesnt know how much beer he gets when ordering- it is 0.4 litre - taps are not numbered so can not order beer just by saying tap number - something really easy to fix

Amazing selection of beers, both their own brews and guest taps. The atmosphere was great and the staff even better. Asked for recommendations for the next leg of our trip, and they went above and beyond in providing us with as many personal recommendations for food and experience as they could. No food served, but plenty of places nearby which they are very happy for you to bring some takeaway in and eat with your beers.

Great locally beers of their own brewery. There are plenty of options on tap and if that's not enough there is more in the fridge. Staff was also friendly. He offered us tasters, which helped us decide

Great little tap room. Their beers get updated frequently so you'll have lots to choose from. The people that run the place are very friendly. If you're into street bars, then it's a must see

Blame the Sun Taproom in Athens is AWESOME. I was walking by coming from the acropolis and could hear the sultry notes of Sublime. As soon as I walked in to this colorful establishment I was stunned to find a location that felt like home in California. The staff/owners could not be more welcoming. We ended up late for everything else we planned because of how great the experience was and didnt even second guess the decision. When I go back to Athens, this will be my first stop. So if you want to feel like you have a family in Athens, need a relaxed place to enjoy a truly fantastic selection of brews or you just always wondered what Cali Vibes feel like... then you should visit these guys. You wont regret it. Also, open one up in San Diego!!
