My co-worker had never had Ethiopian food before so I found Embilta Cafe online for dinner. It was superb. We ordered the Embilta Special ($25) which was plenty for two to share. Everything on the platter was devoured. Solid flavors rich with spices and seasonings. The food was so good he gave the owner/cook a peck on the cheek! Definitely worth a visit if you've never experienced Ethiopian flavors!

My favorite Ethiopian restaurant! Delicious food and incredible value. My partner and I found this place a few years ago and have never stopped coming back. The restaurant is run by one friendly woman who is both the waitress and the cook. Every dish we have had is flavorful and unique, but our favorite is to share the Embilta special large (meat and veggies). This generous platter is full of beef tips, other meat dishes, lentils, and veggies, and it would be tough for two people to finish it. For three, I would recommend this platter plus an additional entree. We always enjoy hot ginger tea with our meal. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Amazing Ethiopian food! The food is definitely 5 stars!! Buttery beef with a red sauce, amazing flavorful lentils. We tried the sampler with lots of different options to get a full array of the flavorful offerings. Don’t shy away due to the location or lack of fancy decor. The service and food make you feel right at home. The njeera is very good and there are lots of Ethiopian people here eating, so that’s a good sign!! Very authentic Ethiopian cuisine. We will return again!

I must say, this was an incredible experience! The Ethiopian cuisine served here is simply the best I have ever tasted. The owner herself took care of us, serving and cooking all of our dishes with so much passion and love. Her genuine smile and the flavors she created made the whole experience even more memorable. I apologize for the late review as life has been quite busy lately. I visited this place a few weeks ago and tried the mouthwatering chicken awaze tibs. Additionally, I savored a delectable brown lentil dish (unfortunately, I can't recall the name), while my friends enjoyed the flavorful beef tibs. The food was fresh and bursting with flavors. The staff was friendly and welcoming, generously providing us with plenty of injera to accompany our dishes. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone. Be prepared for some fiery spiciness in the food! The casual ambiance adds to the charm, and it's no surprise that this place is always buzzing with people who share the same love for it.

Authentic Ethiopian Food | Fresh & Flavorful You can eat the rainbow with no worries of artificial colors, ingredients, or flavors in the veggie platter. Enjoy a delicious cup of Ethiopian Tea sweetened w/ honey while you wait for your meal to be prepared and your experience will be even more memorable.

Came here on a whim because my partner and I had a craving for Ethiopian, and a Google search revealed this super convenient restaurant with great reviews. We met a woman who was presumably the owner and she was lovely, warm, and helpful. Everything on this menu sounds delicious so she helped us narrow down a reasonable order for 2. We opted for the veggie special and fish dulet and everything was fresh, hot out of the kitchen, and delicious. Don’t leave here without at least 2-3 sambusas on your order. It’s great to find a local family-owned small business that you can tell the food is made with love. We WILL be back and recommend everyone stop by — add this gem to your regular takeout or dine-in rotation!

Great and authentic place! Portion sizes are huge and they have a great variety of dishes. Flavor was amazing and the service was great, even for a big party. Would definitely recommend any of the meat dishes!

Delicious! Looks like they got the short end of the stick with the construction in the area, but so worth the detour. My food was incredible. I got the Small Emblita Special. Kitfo, spice, cheese and so much great injera. Huge portion for the price. Staff was super friendly. Definitely recommend!

The sambusas are a NICE size. Bigger than all the other places I’ve been to. I had the awaze tibs (beef) for my main, and it’s enough for dinner and leftovers. Service was great! No complaints. Love that it’s owned by a woman, too. You will not be worried about your server though because the food is so good. My new go-to spot for authentic Ethiopian! :)

It's a one person show here. The owner is the cashier, waitress, and chef (with another help in the kitchen). She was super friendly and attentive but service can be slower than expected. I got the special, lots of food even though the size is small. A nice place to go and enjoy food.

Found a new favorite! Had the Embilta large platter. The veggie platter was also delicious! Be sure to try the Ethiopian tea. Sambusa with tomato salad was a great starter. Everything was so tasty. The owner/chef was amazing!

The food was delicious. All of the flavors was amazing. The service was great. The waitress made us feel like we were at home. The coffee was good too. Highly recommend and I will definitely be taking the 2 hr drive back there.

I stopped here over desta because it was slightly higher in ratings. After my meal I can’t endorse that being the best decision. What I expected out of a cozy mom & and pop restaurant was severely underserved in flavors & freshness. I was served water that was room temperature, not given the options for utensils or wipes, had no napkins, charged a card transaction fee, and my food was cold. Ethiopian sides are usually tasty but my veggie plate was probably the worst of all my experiences at eithiopian restaurants unfortunately but it’s cozy and ran by seemingly nice people. The demographic majority was Caucasian inside the restaurant but there were just a few patrons if that perhaps explains the ratings POV. I can not recommend as a go to spot over desta especially(and yes I’ve had other tasty meals elsewhere) but this wasn’t the best use of $20 in my opinion.

This is not a fancy, upscale, Michelin Star restaurant. It’s kind of a hole in the wall. A beautiful hole, with delicious food, endearing service and an incredible personality. Very affordable and absolutely adorable. Family run local small business. If you are looking for a unique dining experience with someone you love, this place is perfect. I can’t recommend it enough. Absolutely brilliant.

Amazing dishes that will have you coming back for more. I had the lamb soup excellent for this cold weather. The owner is welcoming and provides excellent service!

We shared the kitfo beef and the awaze lamb. So amazing! The service was lovely and the restaurant clean and beautifully decorated. We will be back. And the Ethiopian tea is indeed delightful.

Got the vegan assorted plate with extra injera (which was a good idea! Highly recommend getting more rather than less!) and Sambusa The sambusa was AMAZING. I think it was my favorite part. The injera was good too. But the vegan platter was a slight disappointment since I felt there wasn’t as much quantity various assorted vegetable dishes as I expected. And there was WAY too much raw tomato. On ordering they ask you what extra you want and I am fairly certain I chose chickpeas and not the salad but I still ended up getting the salad. It just made the injera extra soggy and wasn’t that great eating raw tomato so I just left that. The beetroot was kind of meh too, just boiled beets and not that much spice The rest of the dishes were good. Especially liked the yellow lentils and the shiro. Next time I will be more specific while ordering! Give it a try! Good and tasty vegan food 🌱

THE BEST I’VE HAD!!!! When I tell you the flavor snuck up on me around every corner!!! I have to apologize to the tomato salad in the pic. I cut her off like she was a side character and SHE’S NOT REGULAR. Tears of joy off that salad!!! I’LL BE BACK!!!!

If I could give Embilta 10 stars, I would. The reviews are correct. VERY delicious. We had 2 chicken dishes and the veggie dish. Great portions. Tender chicken, perfect spices - I’m sure she made it milder for us out of towners. The owner was very nice. The tea was delicious. If you live here or are just stopping through, a must have meal.

Delicious! The lady serving us appeared to be covering both the front and back but was incredibly efficient and warm. The lamb tips and veggie combo was great. Big portions, affordable and leftovers to take home. First time eating at this restaurant but have tried several other Ethiopian spots on Briarcliff but this one is now a new favorite!
