We
went
to
The
Melting
Pot
in
Midtown
to
celebrate
a
birthday
as
a
group.
I
made
a
weeknight
reservation
for
7
PM.
When
we
arrived
we
had
to
wait
a
little
while
to
be
seated
even
though
the
restaurant
was
almost
completely
empty
when
we
got
there
(at
our
reservation
time).
They
did
put
our
party
in
a
private
room
though
without
even
having
to
ask
so
that
was
a
nice
touch!
Overall
I
was
pretty
underwhelmed.
I
enjoyed
the
food
and
the
experience
of
cooking
the
fondue
was
a
fun
change
of
pace,
but
the
service
was
comically
bad,
especially
given
the
price
point.
Some
of
the
people
at
our
table
didn’t
get
their
water
refilled
the
whole
3+
hours
we
were
there.
The
food
came
out
so
slow
which
didn’t
make
a
lot
of
sense
considering
it
was
delivered
raw
to
our
table
for
us/the
server
to
cook,
so
I’m
not
sure
why
it
took
so
long.
We
were
sitting
unattended
for
long
periods
of
time
having
to
ask
for
refills
and
the
check.
We
probably
could
have
left
a
whole
hour
early
if
they
were
more
attentive.
Also
on
top
of
the
spotty
service,
they
charge
an
automatic
gratuity
of
20%
for
large
groups.
I
totally
understand
auto
tips
for
large
groups,
but
industry
standard
at
most
nice
places
is
18%,
and
it’s
a
little
much
to
ask
for
20%
for
bad
service
AND
cooking
for
yourself.
Probably
won’t
ever
come
back
but
I
guess
it’s
fun
to
say
you’ve
done
it,
maybe
try
a
different
location
with
better
service
though!
