Great place in the heart of buckhead that focuses on keeping a natural area beautiful. Two creeks intersect on the property creating a wetland area with a long boardwalk over to explore. Arts are an important part of what Blue Heron does too.

I came to get information about volunteering with blue heron but got distracted by the park's beauty. I had to walk a part of the trail while i was here. So beautiful. Can't wait til it's hotter outside.. want to come back and explore and take it all in

Wonderful place for a nature hike so close to the city. My husband and I visited in the morning and everything was shimmering with dew. It was quiet, green, with lots of flowers, birds, and insects going about their business. Really a fabulous place to get away and enjoy the beauty of the preserve.

I built the bridges and boardwalks along the trail. Amazing scenery, great variety of wildlife.

Lovely place inside the perimeter to roam around. The trail is marked well but pay attention to the map because you have to cross the street two times in order to do the entire 3 mile trail. Enjoy!

The trails are nicely kept and there's always some wildlife within view. I'm impressed by how little litter I find. Note- There is a part where uneven stones make up stairs so the entirely of the walking area may not be accessible to everyone.

Really cool nature preserve in-between the Sandy Springs and Atlanta area. It sits along Nancy Creek. During the warm months of the year I'm sure the kids love to play in the water. They have lots of walking trails throughout the park. I wish there was better signage for the trails as I didn't know where I was going half the time. They do have a very nice community garden area which is very cool to see. I would imagine it is a great place for school groups to come during the school year.

Absolutely beautiful place in the middle of Atlanta. I’d recommend taking both trails. Definitely take the trail to the right and take it across the road. It is gorgeous back there!

This is the home of several non profits that do great work in ecology and science education. It was a huge surprise to find a wetland right in the middle of the city. This preserve has miles of trails to walk and is open to the public. You should really go check it out.

This place is a real gem! It’s a 2-mile loop path through wilderness right off Roswell Road. The paths and foot bridges are well maintained and take you along a stream. There is one short section where you climb some rock steps which adds to the fun. There are science exhibits and we actually saw a blue heron hunting a fish. It’s a great escape during quarantine! And they are open really late... 11pm I think.

Beautiful, easy walk for me and my 13 year old Shih tzu, Suki. In the summer, best to go early in the morning when it's cooler and no crowds.

We liked walking the trails and seeing the turtles but don't put your fingers inside because they will snap.

Nice area for a walk close to town near the Buckhead area. Not too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Parts of the trail seemed a bit disconnected with each other where you'll need to walk on the side of the main road to get back into the preserve, but the majority of it is wooded. Overall a nice area!

Beautiful nature preserve. Well built and well kept. They do a lot with childhood education and preservation. Perfect little nature retreat to escape the city without having to leave the city.

This is a joke of a nature preserve. We drove over an hour for this. Trails are horribly marked, the only trail we could find was the woodland loop, which involved walking on the side of 3 different roads (including busy Roswell Rd, and over a bridge that had no sidewalk) for about 1/3 of the walk. We saw 3 ducks, 5 Carolina Wrens, 1 turtle, and 4 chipmunks. Not at all worth it, we were laughing the whole time at how pitiful it is.

The boardwalk area is beautiful but the signs are not clear on the building. They have two different doorbells to get in and I tried them both and got no answer. There was a lady inside watching us but she never came to the door. We were trying to get to the butterfly exhibit but we ended up leaving instead. This was our first time there so we prob won’t be back since we couldn’t figure out how to get in. We’ll stick to the chattahoochee nature center in sandy springs/Roswell

A wonderful neighborhood trail area. Great for walks and a quaint community garden along the route. The area is full of vegetation which drowns out the sound of the city and allows one to relax

Quiet and peaceful! Lots of trees which means Shade!!! Lots of green leaves, plants, and birds are chirping within the trees. Great place for all ages and your fur babies 💜

Pretty cool place tucked in the city. Our beautiful neighbor passed away and his family had a gathering there to honor him. After I left, I went through that moment of what you just experienced - no matter what it is - a movie, concert, event - when it sinks in and you experience the afterglow - for lack of better terminology. I felt guilty because we were there to miss somebody and grieve and shed tears... And there was very little of that. It was happy and light-hearted and a beautiful tribute for a beautiful person. And I think it was because we were surrounded by the peace of nature - tucked in the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. If you feel the call of the mountains, or stressed out, or don't know what to do with yourself... And there is no time for a drive away, take a drive here. Find a rock or a log, zone out, and clear the mind. Then drive your 15 minutes back home... Thank you Blue Heron supporters for what you've done to carve out nature in our city.

A hidden gem in Buckhead! It's very close to Chastain Park and pretty easy to miss if you're driving down Roswell Road. It's a cute little secluded forest enclave that is a nice, relaxing stroll and makes you forget you're in the city.

Lovely little spot for the kiddo and I to wade in the creek. Please pick up after yourselves always! Keep it lovely.

Expected a lot more but the trail is really disturbed by the sounds on the main road. Couldn’t find a loop which only goes from inside the preserve. However, it’s a nice green spot- worth a visit if you are nearby.

Seems like it may be in the middle of being renovated. Some lovely, professional leaflets about the place. Very run down/neglected and parts of the trails end due to fallen/broken bridges or other reasons. We couldn’t see any evidence of recent beavers. We saw deer, blue heron and snapping turtles. Would love to see the place when it has been renovated

Path directions were not clear. When I thought I was at the street, I turned around and back to my car.

Nice little area with different trails that are well tended, learning areas for kids, and a community garden that you can buy a small plot of land to grow vegetables, flowers, etc. Dogs are allowed and they have poop stations to throw their waste away. Because most of the trail is covered with trees it helps cut down on the heat, but bug spray is recommended👍

An oasis inside Atlanta, to the point that it's hard to believe that the sounds of a city are steps away. Beautiful paths, boardwalks, and trails with labeled courses make this an easy walk. Kids and dogs will have an easy enough time on these hikes, and they will love the access to creeks and streams to splash in briefly. Free parking, friendly knowledgeable staff, and lots of shade make this an excellent option for a nature escape.

Visiting Atlanta, we ran across this small preserve while dodging rain showers over Labor Day Weekend. The paths were pulverized gravel so easy on the feet but would not recommend strollers or anything of the sort. This is a simple stroll to one end and back. We stayed roughly 45 minutes walking 3 of the trails and taking pics. Butterfly garden was pretty much gone for the season but the little sign was cute. Worth a quick stretch of the legs. Also the only wildlife we saw during our afternoon visit were a few turtles but there were deer and raccoon tracks in the mud along the creek bed. Side note - the trails are just off of a residential road down the side of the preserve, so no way to get “lost” in the woods.
