Nice
soft
open.
The
deal
with
this
place
is
that
it's
your
friendly
neighborhood
bar.
It's
not
trying
too
hard
to
be
super
cool
or
gastropubby
or
anything.
Like
the
original
location
on
North
Ave
(an
age-old
institution
in
this
town)
founded
by
the
grandfather
of
the
owner,
the
idea
here
is
a
space
to
connect
neighbors.
Drinks:
good,
cold.
Slushy
cocktail
was
on
the
sugary
side,
if
that's
your
thing.
Food:
solid
basics.
Good
flavor
in
the
burger
but
not
fancy.
Good
flavor
in
the
hot
dog,
especially
the
mustard,
but
not
fancy.
I
ordered
a
corned
beef
special--again,
straightforward
and
classic
presentation
with
soda
bread
and
cabbage.
Not
some
kind
of
gourmet
or
foodie
indulgence.
Service:
very
friendly
and
nice.
This
is
a
place
where
you
want
to
be
a
regular.
Space/location:
excellent.
Cool
bar
space,
not
TOO
cool,
just
extremely
comforfable.
And
this
side
of
the
park
needs
this.
There
are
other
solid
bars
around
but
this
is
a
hallmark
location.
Lots
of
locals
were
fans
of
the
bike
shop
that
used
to
be
here,
but
another
place
that
serves
the
neighborhood
is
here
now,
which
is
good.
(And
also
a
Jimmy
John's
next
door,
which
is
fine.)
I
look
forward
to
coming
here
often.
Other
bars
have
tried
to
be
fancy,
to
carry
a
million
beers,
to
style
themselves
as
upscale
foodie
locations.
This
place
does
not
try
to
be
those
things
and
I
think
that
is
going
to
work
well
here.
