Very nice place to chill out. The water was not as cold as i expected. Looks like a fun place to do BBQ sometime.

What a great, expansive National Park right in your back yard off Old 41. Grab your lunch and come out to the park. This park has lots of trails, plenty of parking and rental bikes provided by Cumberland Community Improvement District. I enjoy riding and walking out on the trails and listening to the birds. Very dog friendly too.

As of June 20th the parking is no longer free but the machine at Paces Mill parking lot was not working so we had to go online to buy the pass. Didn't like the beer cans that visitors had left on top of machine with trash cans only 20 feet away. Nice challenging trails along the Chattahoochee River. At times very smooth and level but many of the uphills were very rocky and well eroded. Nice benches at start of paths but none once you get into the woods. We did encounter deer which was a treat. Will definitely go again. Would really like to try a float trip.

Parking is $5. Walking trails are wonderful and shaded. Area is clean, including what I saw of the water. Folks were out rafting and kayaking today. Having fun. I found a nice spot off the path and spent time in meditation 🧘🏾‍♀️and enjoying nature. I definitely will return

I love to go on walks by the river with my family or sometimes with just my baby. In the early mornings sometimes there is fog over the river and it’s absolutely gorgeous. You will see a lot of wildlife on this trail as well, watch out for snakes! The path is paved, very stroller friendly.

Only takes about 10 minutes to hike through the abundant greenery to the serene river. Georgia is full of fauna and flora up high and down low to keep you engaged as you stumble upon the invasive Joro spiders, occasional deer, and gorgeous shrubs/trees. The river itself is deep in some areas to submerge one’s whole body, but mostly the rocks and shallow areas prevent really swimming inside. I highly recommend taking off your shoes to step into the water that feels so refreshing among the humidity! If you’re taking Sope trail, cross the river and head downstream with the current and you’ll find extraordinary ruins from what I assume to be the Civil War time. There’s a whole network of pillars and fortified walls that stretch along the river but up higher in the forest. You’ll have to cut through some seemingly uncharted trails to get up to the ruins, but it’s so worth it. Beware of spiders and poison Ivy though, as my little brother brushed up against some and we had to rush him back to the car and apply cortisone. Well worth it though to witness nature’s overgrowth on what’s left of our country’s battle with itself.

A gem in the Atlanta metro area. This is a beautiful hike with some climbing. It's a perfect length with beautiful views. Lots of people doing a number of activities. Great for dogs and a picnic it really is a fantastic way to spend an hour or 2.

This was such a peaceful environment. Friendly faces and nature all around. Donations of 5.00 is well worth the trails and history. Will be back for another visit.

Amazing place with loads of activities. You can hike, cycle or have fun in the water - canoe, kayak, swim - do what you will. The day was beautiful - neither too hot nor cloudy and we spent good 2-3 hrs here. Did a mile trek and came back and my group cycled around and also got in the water. There are cycles available for rent here, so we didn’t have to carry anything. Just us and our happy spirits! Will visit again

Great parking, entry to go kayaking or tubing is easy and wide. Nice walking trail and some places along the river to bring your chair and hang out watching the river, tubers, and kayakers go by. There are also benches and (grills?) Available

The Chattahoochee River flows from its exit at Lake Sidney Lanier across the northern Atlanta region a short distance from Sugar Hill. An important water source, its 75 km length is dotted with several ‘units’ that together form this National Recreation Area. There are five such units in the vicinity of Sugar Hill, providing a way for visitors and residents to enjoy all the river has to offer. Canoeing and kayaking are regular pastimes here, with plenty of places to easily enter the water, while fishing and hiking are other favorites.

Great place to explore in an otherwise urban jungle. Great place to walk one's dog if passing through Atlanta. Not far off I-285 or I-75 either. My pooch adored this opportunity and break from highway travel. Locals walk their dogs there too. People are not extremely friendly and most limit eye contact with anyone. Crime victim fears could be a bigger issue for many park patrons here than 'meets the eye'. Lots of adjoining apartments that have become outdated and need renovation. Could be dicey safety wise if trekking the river trails alone.

A frequent destination for many years. $5 parking fee. The main throughways are well trafficked. The trails leading away into the wooded hills are not so heavily travelled. I have seen white tailed deer, a nesting Eastern box turtle, a king snake, a wild turkey, and many other bird species, including American bitterns, pileated woodpeckers, an owl of some sort, double crested cormorants, great blue heron, and many duck species.

This is one my favorite quick, local hikes. It’s also the ending point for when we tube the Chatahooche. It’s a paved walking trail (they also have offshoot walking paths they are more wooded). Large parking lot (requires pay fee if you don’t have a pass); also a bathroom onsite which is nice!

Weather was beautiful, temperature was just right, not too many mosquitoes in this area (wore bug spray anyway just in case) saw plenty of families and dogs out enjoying the water. Heads up: parking is $3 if you have cash or $5 with card

Awesome walking trails and public bathrooms. Don't forget to pay for parking! They take cash and credit cards. Boardwalk is nice and leads to more trails. Lots of small areas where you can get really close to the river and watch wildlife.

Right off 41. Plenty of parking. Needs more development to make the park more scenic and visually appealing.. Hike paths are good . One large open area for frisbee or dogs to run around.

Beautiful trails and sceneries. This park is pet and children friendly. In addition, the trails and seating areas are always cleaned. Be sure to arrive early to enjoy the water when weather is nice. Parking lot is huge and gets very crowded quickly.

Wow, I took a walk through this trial on Thanksgiving morning and it was long walk for about an hour one way from one end to another. Good number of slopes and ups to give you challenging walk and nice water stream to remind you to keep moving.

Fun little hike off the Chattahoochee River. Parking tends to be pretty abundant compared to other parks along the river. There is a $5 fee to park if you don’t already have a pass. Park has a ramp for water access to put in a boat, kayak/canoe or inter tubs.

Absolutely wonderful! I really like this trail there are patches where you can see the water running down. Everyone is respectful of personal space however it's best to go at noon if you want to avoid high traffic.

Too bad that I didn’t take my phone with me. It was a nice trail. Walking right next to river was so peaceful and relaxing. Surprise to see so many people out there at 8 in the morning. I walked from Hyatt House parking lot so did not pay anything.

  • 5/5 Lia M. 3 years ago on Google
Convenient location, 5 bucks for parking, restriom accessible and olenty of parking and packing for the disabled. Lots of rafters and a great 2 mile serene walking trail.

  • 5/5 Claire G. 4 years ago on Google
I love these trails, especially for being in such a developed area. The non-paved trails can give you a pretty decent 4-5 mile workout. The views are beautiful and I like that you are close to water for most of the hike, and there's a nice bathroom stop if you go to the most northeast section of the trail. Highly recommend for an after-work stroll. Keep in mind you are supposed to pay for parking although rarely enforced.

👍👍 This park is enclosed with a kid-proof gate and fencing. It has an area for older kids and toddlers. The older area is shaded so that the equipment doesn't get as hot in the summer. They have slides and a small rock climbing area and toddler swings.
