I made reservations and purchased tickets to the New Years Eve event but none of that ever happened. Upon checking in, I was informed I only reserved a room even though I paid 160 more than the cost of the room. I purchased a package that consisted of 2 tickets for the party and a room. It was a special night where I planned to propose at midnight. There was a couple checking in at the same time that had the same issue I did. I've gotten a refund for the package and still waiting on the incidental fee of 100 and the resort fee of 18 to be refunded. Also waiting for the parking fee to be refunded. Luckily, I found another hotel and got tickets to their event and somehow pulled off a perfect proposal with virtually no time to plan. The hotel looks beautiful and I love the history behind it but customer service is something I take seriously and felt that there was no concern by the staff to accommodate me especially since I had already paid and had confirmation.

This hotel used to be absolutely beautiful. Right now it is seriously lacking in maintenance and cleaning. The pool, is very very disgusting, you cannot see the bottom of it so much the water is unclean. The room is okay, and by that I mean, if you have not too high standards, it's going to be fine. But in the one I had, there was a clear lack of proper ''deep'' cleaning. The AC unit had a lot of built up grime in it. The toilet seat was broken, the toilet wallpaper was unglued in some places. The shower corners were not clean, build up of grime and sand. The carpet in the room was not fully clean, it would require a good proper cleaning. As for the location, well the park just in front of the hotel there is usually a few homeless person sleeping there, but this seem to be every where in Atlantic city. If you find a deal for a room at a very good price for this hotel, I wouldn't hesitate to book it. But at the full price, I would never book it. The hotel is not up to it's original standards anymore.

The check-in process is extremely long and slow. They are obviously understaffed. The lobby is not air-conditioned. Miserable hot box room! Our first night was torture! We called the front desk 4 times! They never offered to move our room with a broken fridge or broken ac. They never sent maintenance. I have picture proof that our room's temp was 81! We didn't sleep at all. With a hot room and a broken ac, we were sweating, feeling dehydrated, and sick with no cold drinks. To add insult to injury, $30 of seafood went bad in our fridge. The next day, I demanded a room switch because I was so sick and dehydrated, so they moved us to a smaller room. At least the fridge and ac worked. ~$60 in resort fees ~$80 in parking Extremely slow elevators. Unhelpful staff. 90% of the ice machines are broken. No microwave in our room. The pool opened late every day we were there. Adults accompanying children to the pool wasn't enforced, so someone had to call security on disruptive kids alone. One time we went to the pool there were no towels so we had to use our room towels. No foot showers when you come in covered in sand from the ocean. You'll end up tracking sand in the elevator and your room. Homeless people pee in the parking garage. The first 3 floors of it smells bad. Homeless people do drugs and nap by their fountain. Garbage all over the sidewalks.

Stayed at the Claridge for one night this weekend- my boyfriend and I rented a king bed room. The room was nothing special, but clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy, the temperature was nice, the bathroom was clean and windows that you could see the boardwalk from. Location of the Claridge is great, near most casinos and only a 3-5 minute walk to the boardwalk! There was a little gym with a Smith machine and a nice heated pool for our use. Also an arcade with air hockey, claw machines, games, and more. We had requested late checkout upon our arrival and was told the fee for this was $15. We were satisfied with this and went to check out at 2pm, 3 hours after the normal checkout time, and we were told it was actually $15 per hour so we had to pay a $45 fee…which we only found out upon returning to our room where our key had been deactivated and door locked. Also upon visiting the pool there were 3 cockroaches in the pool bathrooms. The room walls are thin and could hear our neighbors doors slamming open and shut all night, as well as the ballroom party going on on a completely different floor. Mediocre experience, nothing special but not totally miserable. Would recommend for a short low stakes stay but nothing special.

I thought this place was pretty awesome! My boyfriend & I took a trip to Atlantic City on a whim, and wanted a room with a jacuzzi in it. We were happy with our room and experience, and the front desk staff were nice and helpful. We had a great view from our room, and it was a short walk to the beach about 1 block away. My only complaint was that making our way back to our car was confusing, being that you can only access the parking garage from the 2nd floor, and the elevator did not indicate this, nor were there signs anywhere. We had to ask someone in the elevator how to find the garage 😆

The location is excellent, one block from the beach and the boardwalk. This was THE hotel in its day (built in 1929). It has some many wonderful historic details left. The staff was very friendly and nice, and gave great local tips for restaurants and things to do. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Be sure to take advantage of the rooftop bar! Looking at past reviews before we booked this hotel, we noticed many complaints regarding the lifts. I would like to clarify that in general, the lifts are not slow; they run at any other pace a lift from the 1929 would. These are not lighting fast like a modern skyscraper or building but like any older building. However, there is an issue right around check out time, as everyone is making their way to the lobby and the lifts are very crowded and it does indeed take a while to catch one with space in it. We only had our backpacks so we took the stairs after waiting ten minutes or so with no success. I know other hotels have solved this issue and it would behoove The Claridge to see how others hotels have solved this issue. Many guests are soured by this experience, which is a shame as this is a great hotel. The pool was refreshing but their staff are not pool and spa people and it shows. The water was quite cloudy and the pump needs adjusting as it is not powerful enough to circulate the water properly.

Great, nostalgic hotel close to the Boardwalk casinos. Rooms are spacious and clean. No extraneous noises to keep you up at night, either. The connectors to Bally and Caesars is convenient. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Fantastic pool and exercise room. Rooftop bar is spectacular.

wish I could give it NO starts.. there was a bucket of foul smelling liquid and stuff from the ceiling falling in the pool area. our charging ports and plugs did not work on the bedside table neither did our phone in the room. we also never received fresh towels but cleaning staff came and took some dirty ones from our room??... didn't understand the point of that. every time I went and requested more towels at the front desk none came to the room. elevators shook A LOT was worried it would drop us. Our room and the entire floor we stayed on smelled like smoke which it is a non smoking hotel I also overheard other guest complaining about this as well. and how dirty their rooms were. We had extremely rude customer service. The lady never told me she was having issues with my credit card and kept swiping it and it caused my card and all accounts to lock because it looked like fraud and finally said something after swiping it 4-5 times. had to sit on the phone for an hour to unlock all my accounts. Then she proceeded to blame me even after the rep on the phone explained that swiping it that many times can cause it to lock. We had A LOT of mold in our shower (which I have documentation/videos) and roaches in the room and pool area. and they are denying me a refund after telling me I had to contact Expedia and Expedia's request was denied as well. A reply to the owner... I called and spoke to the manager who told me because I could not remember the name of the staff at the front desk he could not help me. Was extremely dismissive and offered no help. Didn't even need a refund but at least some type of compensation as me and my boyfriend were extremely uncomfortable and it was his birthday and our anniversary. The dispute has already been filed on the charges.

Weed smell in the parking area, old damp small once you get inside. Parking Garage is not convenient, you have to take 2 different elevators just to check-in. We had reservations for 1 king and ocean view, but had my father join us so we needed 2 beds. They didn't have a room with a view so we were downgraded. (But yet being downgraded we were still charged for the more expensive room). 2 double beds tight for 2 people per bed. Room is clean and good for the price. Didn't expect to pay $25 a night for parking, You can leave and come back at no extra charge. Pool and pool area was small no hot tub by pool. Gym was small but enough to get a good workout in. Bike rentals right outside the front door, price is $8 hr. Arcade is ok not over priced they do lock up at 10pm. I would think nobody working it they would keep it open all night. Not sure if I would stay again. I would be tempted to try a different hotel with free parking and better pool. The location was the best thing they had going for them.

My friend had her wedding here, so I recently stayed here for an extended weekend. While her wedding was beautiful - the setup and everything was great, the staff was kind and her wedding couldn't have been better - the accommodations were not. I had a king bedroom and while the bed was comfy, that was the extent of what I liked. There was a spotlight right outside of my window that illuminated the room all night despite the blackout curtains. The walls were paper thin, so when my neighbors were watching a movie and playing pranks on each other at 1 am, I was privy to everything. When my other neighbor's alarm kept going off at 4am, I too was woken up at 4am. In the 3 nights I stayed, I never got more than two hours of sleep each night due to various disturbances both in the hallways and in the neighboring rooms. I was afraid to even talk during my stay because I knew the people on both sides would hear every word of my conversation. One lamp switch was broken, so the only way to turn it on and off was unplugging and replugging, which felt like a safety/fire hazard. The fan didn't work in the bathroom, so it quickly turned into a sauna and the trim around the glass shower door was deteriorating, so the door wouldn't shut all the way. My slippers/socks quickly turned black just by walking on the carpet on the first day, so from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed and was in my room, I had shoes on my feet. We were also charged a resort fee, which despite being there for a wedding and having 0 time to do absolutely anything else, I sort of understood ... until I found out that most amenities, like the pool and fitness center, were closed. Add that to the parking fees on top of what we paid for the room and the quality of our accommodations, it was a bit ridiculous.

Decent rooms and nice pool but my credit card was charged a deposit more then my room and stay even was. I was also charged $17.00 dollars a day parking even though I was staying there. The girl working the parking booth was there but I still had to do everything myself on a machine so what is the point in paying workers who are not even doing the job. When all was said and done for the price I paid to stay here I could have stayed at a lot nicer place.

Hello everyone. Some time ago have spent some time in that nice hotel. No the best hotel i have ever been but not the worst. For that price i like it. Not the first line, but you still can see the ocean. I don't know why but window in my room was deadly closed. Still clean though. No loud neighbours. Some restaurants. Parking. The only thing be ready that you would have to pay for your parking. Restaurants not the best but still good. Sometimes they offer good deals wich ill take next time Peace!

My wife and I checked in at 4:30pm. The rooms were supposed to be ready at 4:00pm. When we walked into our room, there were towels on the floor and the bed was unmade from the guest the night before. Thankfully the previous guests weren’t absolute slobs. When we went back down to the front desk, the manager was not there to give any advice on what the next step was. The front desk associate was absolutely lovely and gave us a new room, however, she was not able to give an incentive and we have not heard from manager staff since. We were there for a wedding and found out that multiple guests had experienced the same situation that we did despite having the rooms blocked off for the wedding. It’s a very poorly run hotel with managerial staff that doesn’t care about their guests while making their regular staff pick up all of the slack and take the brunt of the complaints. I would not recommend this hotel to any one, not because of the staff, but because of the management. Management should be ashamed of themselves at the filth this hotel has considering it has such beautiful potential.

We were lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful wedding at The Claridge a few weeks ago. What an incredible event the hotel and it's staff put on, it was not only beautiful but wonderfully orchestrated. We stayed in the hotel and enjoyed our spacious room and the convenience of being able to get food from a few restaurants to bring back. We loved our stay!

I love this place. The lobby is classy. The people who work there are thorough and friendly. The rooms are nice. I've never had a bad experience there which is saying something for Atlantic City. No, they don't have a casino downstairs which I actually enjoyed but you don't even have to go outside to get to the casino next door since they have a walk across. Excellent!

That's a pretty and good hotel. We stayed there few times, good for family, not noisy at all. Staff was helpful to us all the time. Clean. Pool is working, water is very warm but,... the area is very cold, not heated at all, that the only complaint we got from last trip. Parking cheaper somewhere around, they have $17 parking per day, a bit expensive. Bar on the roof top is great, good vibes, live music, amazing views especially at clear night.

Absolutely loved this hotel! We had a quick one night stay in the whirlpool suite and it was gorgeous! While the place can use a little fixing up, wallpaper peeling, paint and a few other things it was still a fantastic room!! Staff was fantastic and friendly. Elevators are nowhere near as slow and “scary” as people make them out to be!!! Will definitely be back again for a longer stay!!

Id like to start off with, is that the hotel was a very good distance away from the boardwalk and everything was easily accessible. I’d say the only downside of the hotel is that there are certain places that are very weirdly empty, and it would be better to have furniture to fill up the space. Another negative thing I’d say is that the elevators take forever to come up, and something we’d have to take the stairs because of it, which was annoying. Last thing would be that we asked the front desk to help because it was too cold in the room, but they never fixed it and we eventually gave up. At the end of the day, me and my friends had a very good weekend and had so much funny

This hotel is very beautiful..aside of a few empty places it was still nice to look at all the pieces around and there was a lot of food places inside the actual hotel so I didn’t have to leave. The pool water was nice and warm how ever let’s get into the room… the beds were very small there was not really a view and NO MICROWAVE is a bit crazy I went down to ask for a microwave and a lady behind the desk said they don’t have any… no breakfast was the first as well but other than that it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

We came here before the pandemic and had a great time. After the pandemic hit, we thought booking a nice staycation for a bachelorette would be great. We had to make sure the hot water was running since we heard complaints from other guests. Our door knobs in the rooms had looked like they would break off if we turned incorrectly. There was a gash in one of the curtains, and when we were leaving, that's when I saw the bed bug that had bitten me and my brother crawling on the wall behind the TV. I brought it downstairs in a cup to see if something could be done, I was given a card with a number to call in case I didn't hear from the manager that Wednesday. It's been over a week, I've left numerous messages, I've called billing to find out why my full security deposit wasn't returned. I'm wondering if they gave me an old card now so they didn't have to deal with it. I'm very disappointed, I'm hoping this went downhill because of COVID, but I'm not sure I'll return for a while.

Cons: 2 cockroaches, 2 broken lamps, slow/no service lumpy bed, $2.50 for small water that tastes gross, long hair in bathroom upon arrival. Pros: Housekeeping helpful when asked for missing amenities like hairdryer, toothbrush & paste, etc., location of hotel near Atlantic City boardwalk and Tony Baloney's Pizza, TV size and pic quality, clean working small fridge, warmed and color changing swimming pool, gym, lobby snacks and Starbucks. Spoke and called lobby desk about missing & broken things and was told help was on the way, but it never came...only got help when catching housekeepers servicing other rooms. To make this 4 star rating, need to be proactive in maintenance: replace bed mattresses and lights, provide amenities in room (hairdryer, toothbrush & paste, etc.), clean up room (roaches, hair, , etc.) and respond to service requests in an appropriate time frame.

This place is absolutely disgusting. I came here with my family for a cheer cheer competition. Before we even got into the hotel we couldn’t find out how to get into the parking garage as it was very confusing. The lady at the parking garage was really sweet but if you lose your parking ticket you have to pay $52. Once we got into the room we could tell that the beds were full size instead are of queen size beds. (Which was the size we got told we were going to get.) As I was about to take a shower I saw a cockroach on the counter. I would never come here again and most definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Cool place. Historic. My brother actually stayed here as I stayed next door at Bally's. It's clean, great location with modern amenities as it was built in 1933. Heard stories of it being haunted. I asked the young lady at the front desk, but she wasn't forthcoming, though. My brother had no issues.

If I could give 0 stars I would my husband and I checked in to a hot tub “ocean view” suite and I say “ocean view” cause all we saw was the bay and wind propellers which is the first thing. We were there for one night. We were only able to use the hot tub for maybe 15 minutes when we first got there because after that they failed to tell the hotel that there was no hot water!!!!! Even into the next morning! Not in the shower or the hot tub!!! When it was brought to attention the next morning there was no manager there I was told I would receive a call which never happened. I called 4 times on Saturday and was put on hold for well over a half hour and hung up on three times! I then proceeded to call Sunday-Tuesday when I finally got a hold of a manager who told me I can’t even be comped a room and I was only given a $150 refund when the room was $300!!!!! We will never be staying there again!

Would have been 5 stars had the elevators not have been the worst I've ever dealt with. Also at check-in we were given the wrong room key. We entered the room to find people in there. Then there was a fire alarm on the lower floors but the 20th floor alarms don't work. The only way we knew was by the smell of fire. Definitely a safety concern that needs to be addressed. The room was beautiful and everything else aside it was a great stay but these issues need to be addressed. Thanks.

I can see why ppls' opinion of this hotel would be low. It's an older hotel, and as my family and I are from this area, locals normally stay here. It is historical and it is "outdated" by modern standards but it fits the theme. I stayed in the Gatsby room and I loved it. So much! Quiet, huge tub....it didn't match the pic in the ad so I took a star off, but it was still very nice. The staff was kind and I had no issues.

Upon arrival and chicken went to our room and did some light cleaning and notice a roach in our room. When I called down and told the front desk about it, they didn't seem surprise and gave us a room rather quickly, which let me know. This is a usual thing with them. Not to mention how dusty the room was, how the floors are nasty. The carpet needs cleaned or redone. Also seen a roach in the hallway by the ice machine. This hotel needs to be upgraded from top to bottom furniture, carpet doors, everything. I will never stay there again upon speaking to the front desk, after I reported it I was told I would get a call from the manager that was Friday. Then I was told it would be on Monday. I still haven't heard anything from them. I checked out Monday at 9:00 in the morning

The rooms are comfortable and beautiful ❤️ view. You have access to a fitness center, library( museum), I'm here until 12/26. Best time to celebrate Christmas 🎄 and my wedding anniversary thank you so much to the staff for the bottle of wine sent to our room along with a 10 percent off my dinner food purchase . That was really nice of you all. I will continue to support Claridge and why go to any other hotel in Atlantic City

I enjoyed my stay at the The Claridge. The hotel has a classic feel that hasn't been updated too much by the outside (that's either a positive or negative for you) but don't worry, the rooms have definitely been updated and they're very nice! It is not flashy like other hotels and if you're looking for a hotel without a casino and having to walk past all the noises and bells when you walk to your room, this hotel is for you. The staff was very nice, the room was clean! The elevators were a bit slow and the windows were small compared to other hotels on the boardwalk but overall, we enjoyed this stay.

  • 3/5 Samantha D. 1 year ago on Google
Location is amazing, convenient access to most everything in the area. Rooms are not for sleeping: heat/air- hard on and off sound, difficult to try to sleep through. Appearance and cleanliness of the room was satisfactory. Elevators are wacky. Just get on one and hope for the best. Paying for parking is excessive, like really how do you think I got here?? Overall this wasn't a bust but I value my rest so I doubt I will stay here again.

  • 5/5 Ash S. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is beautiful and they have a great pool area. It's not right on the boardwalk but you just have a small memorial park to walk by and then you're there. The rooms could have been a little more clean, and I had to pay $53 to park for 3 nights which seems high considering how much the rooms cost. But the hotel has a lot of character and is certainly a great experience!! The staff have been very nice and the beds are super comfy too!

The checkin in process was horrible. No rooms were ready at 4:00pm. Many were told to come back or they would receive a call when their room was ready. That’s totally unacceptable. We were offered another room with 2 beds which was declined as the beds being offered were full size & we booked king. Once in our room, there was only 1 set of towels/wash cloths yet my reservation was for 2 adults Room had a mini refrigerator, but no microwave. Best part of our visit was, our room was clean & bed super soft. Rooftop lounge was a major plus. The servers & bartenders were amazing Our stay was mediocre. I would only stay here again if nothing else is available

  • 2/5 Edel B. 1 year ago on Google
Overpriced for the quality. Let's be honest, the hotel is really old and not renovated. Elevators are very slow and make noises. Good luck trying to find the stairs, and if you do, they look like creepy places you see in movies. The stairs lead you out to the street, not inside the hotel. Check in is at 4 PM. We got there after 5 PM and the room is not ready. They only gave us a complimentary $25 for the bar, which drinks are super expensive so good luck. Whirlpool room was nice but there was a small centipede crawling across the floor. I called for 1 hour late check out, and they did not want to listen or negotiate. They just kept saying no. The rooftop does have a nice view but it is an overpriced old hotel.

The hotel is historic, pretty old, would have been so amazing if it was maintained well. The source of light in the room are literally lamps. Our room has something on the ceiling, definitely needs some actions. The carpet everywhere needs thorough cleaning. Female receptionist not so friendly, room service at night was pretty bad. Breakfast in The Italian Twenties Bistro was good, staffs are friendly.

The staff at this hotel are amazing. The hotel is historic and is central to everything you need. Very charming! The elevators are slow but compared to the other hotels in the area it is really cute. They responded very quickly in the middle of the night when I had a request. I stay at a lot of hotels and rental properties and really enjoyed my stay at the Claridge

I just got home from a weekend stay there. Checking in went smoothly. But I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you enjoy waiting 10-15 minutes for an elevator to just arrive. We got to our room and 2 out of 4 lamps worked. The bed was old and like a rock. There was no fitted sheet for the bed. We ended up sleeping on an old dirty mattress all weekend. Then I went to the lobby to discuss the price I got charged because it was WAY more than what I was emailed before even checking in. And the gentleman at the desk was so rude. Laughing at me and making smart remarks and even rolling his eyes. Not helpful in the slightest. There was a pool tournament going on at the hotel at the same time we stayed and every single person we spoke to while there had absolutely nothing nice to say about their stay. Don't stay here unless you would like to be disappointed all around ! Waste of my money honestly.

I stayed at the at hotel for 1 night The room was spacious, clean, and had a nice view. The service and amenities were good. The breakfast buffet was varied and tasty. The only issue was the slow elevator. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.
