Top attraction in Auckland. Fun to climb if you're feeling adventurous but ensure you do so with good climbing technique.

Good for a walk-around selfies and stuff, don't bother casting here been mega overfished for year's the current is always strong and if you've got a real good cast on you,you risk losing your line and gear to the boaties that like to cruise past too close

A surprising park up with a sea view to relax and eat your lunch (in the car). There is a bench or two, otherwise you'll see people just find spots to sit and relax.

Nice view at the end side of marina walk. It was raining heavily that day when we went there, but the walk was worth it.

You have an awesome view of the city from here which would be the main reason to go to the big wheel. The thing itself is just a giant old wheel from a machine, not that impressive. But the view is amazing!

To call this a big wheel is perhaps a stretch, it's definitely bigger than average but I've definitely seen much larger ones on my travels. Redeemed by great views of the bridge and city.

Great place for tourist to look over that part of the Harbour, the Harbour Bridge, North Shore. Good view of the Sky Tower.

Just a big wheel in the harbor At the top end of Wynyard Wharf one finds a giant axle connecting two giant cogwheels – eight tons apiece – relics from a steam dredge “Whakarire” where they transmitted the power to the bucket chain. The vessel was built in Scotland in 1903 for service in Wellington Harbour until 1934, and thereafter in Napier until 1974, at which time she was scrapped (in Auckland). A plaque on the pavement commemorates her history. A picture of the vessel is here. And a rather poetic description of the dredge and its working can be found in Wellington’s Evening Post (1907). Two samples give a taste: “like a true Briton, she does not let the fondness for growling interfere with her usefulness“; and “Forbidding to the eye, at a distance, she is lovely at close quarters, and the music of her engines, compound by name, but simple in work, is something to thrill the blood”. Not really very impressive close up, but a very nice walk through the wharf district getting there. Seems like a good place for a run in the mornings. Close to the Maritime museum and a lot of restaurants.

Quick visit last week to this place. Wind refreshed the hot day. Fishing is good there, as I’ve seen people fishing and actually catching fishes! Unfortunately bad guys thrown a bicycle on the rocks. I’ve informed the company and hope the recover their asset and find the perpetrators. Apart from that, worth a walk there.
