One of the recent reviews mentioned the appalling service of the young lady behind the counter. Glad to see I’m not the only one - she’s of the most unpleasant people I’ve ever encountered. Yells back at if she doesn’t hear what you said, in general looks uninterested and acts like she’d rather be anywhere else. The older gentleman is not much better. The only one that was nice was the young lad behind the counter. Whoever’s the owner is, has to do a better job hiring, but I suspect this must be a family affair as I find it laughable that some of the servers haven’t been sent packing yet. Food was not too bad, and the atmosphere/location is pretty cool. Strangely you have to pay for your meal before you receive it which is a bit of a gamble. Better hope they cook all your food and dish it up correctly, as I doubt you’d get any sympathies if they make a mistake. You won’t see me back here again.

The cakes at this place have been bringing me back for yonks! Usually come here for a night cap or a night cap and dessert. When I do have a meal it isn't disappointing. Featured is the Mezze lamb burger and one of my favourites for dessert, chocolate buttermilk cake and the almond cake. I love an orange cake but their one has so thick rind in it which I'm not a fan of. Mezze is a key spot for my friends and I. Go on and check it out! Love that they have white port and their tiramisu is to die for. Finally had brunch here for the first time after all these years and okay it wasn't during brunch time but hey the menu was still available so I went ahead and ordered the bacon and chip butty and so did the rest of my friends. It did the job and I had the chocolate buttermilk cake for dessert because it was a Sunday! Went here for lunch with my friend and I ordered the Greek salad and the patatas bravas was for us to share. Salad was delish but could have been a better portion for what is charged. I feel like the chocolate buttermilk cake has changed. It still tastes really good but it doesn't come out with the hot chocolate sauce anymore. I was telling my friend all about it so that was a bit of a bummer. Was here last month for a night cap and dessert - ordered the almond tart (one of my faves) and the dessert wine. Quite a stingy slice so wasn't happy about that. Had lunch here with my friend and I ordered the mushroom risotto and all I need to say is chef's kiss!

My most favourite place for Mediterranean food in town. This place is such a gem ! From the tapas to lunch, dinner, desserts, and drinks, everything is so tasty and well made. I found myself keep coming back to this place over and over again, that’s just how much I love Mezze Bar. The atmosphere is nice and so does the interior design of this place. They have done very well in creating that fun, cozy, traditional but also out of the rule vibe. Kudos to the team and see you again soonish :)

I always go for the almond tart and the tea range from this place. The food has always been nice, and the service is also great. I visited on a Friday night and there was an extremely friendly male staff member who went above and beyond to make our night enjoyable. However, when I visited on a Sunday, there was a female staff member who was quite rude when taking orders. I think she may be the person mentioned in the other reviews, and it is unfortunate to see because it put me off from making regular visits.

Awesome food and atmosphere, the staff are really nice and helpful too. Good options are available for all. We still could not go past the Vegan Mezze dinner plate (they both vegan and non-vegan option), but we got the vegan menus to try. Was really nice.

Mezze Bar was a great dining experience combined with a causal evening outing. We chose this place on a whim and were able to secure a table without a reservation. You must order at the bar but the service is fast-paced. The seasoning of our meals was surprisingly good and exceeded our expectations by large. Our friend also praised their pinot noir!

4/5 atmosphere (one downside is it is veery very noisy. If you don't mind that, you can't go wrong) Toilets are shared by men and woman, and the sliding door requires a bit of grit to slide open. Good vibes for easy catchup 🤌🤌

Mezze Bar has my heart. It’s the rare kind of place that really has it all - delicious food options that will please just about anybody, late night coffee, and speedy wifi. They have vegan and vegetarian menus available as well - all tapas style. My go-to is the chocolate buttermilk cake or baklava slice and Moroccan tea. It’s a great heart-of-the-city spot to get some work done. The atmosphere feels like a cozy living room, and the staff make you feel right at home.

Place had a pretty cool vibe, very laid back. Nice space with some fun, eclectic décor. Food & beverage menu has plenty of well priced and tasty options.

Nice atmosphere and very good menu. The separate vegan menu was a nice surprise. Enjoyed a mixed sharing platter. Friendly staff too. Will go here again.

Food was amazing and swift. Coffee was lovely. They cater well for gluten free people as well. The building itself could do with a clean up. The silver tape blocking the wind from coming in the window frames is a little ragged looking, but the food and service made up for any of that.

The place and the staff are at 5-star quality. The taste of the food is delicious to my Asian preference. They said the lamb was halal and that is perfect for me.

I’ve tried Tiramisu, almond tart, carrot cake and chocolate buttermilk cake. For me almond tart was the best!! It was fantastic! Highly recommend their desserts and coffee!

Beautiful space to sit and relax and best spot for breakfast or brunch. Loved their customer service, hot chocolate was perfect and their cheese and butter scone are NEXT LEVEL! It’s the best on Queen Street. Can’t wait to explore their big menu and other cabinet options which had irresistible looking cakes 🧁🤤

Vegetarian options (hummus, Greek salad, feta) were not anything special. Food was okay but not worth the price.

Nothing special. Paid $23 for 10 slices of tomatos with a little uneven teared off peices of Halloumi with a slice of bread. It's not wroth what I paid for. So, better to lower your expectations as it says a lot in the menu but looks different in your plate.

The grilled fish sandwich came without the burger bread. Later on, an apologising waiter came up to us and handed the top bread in a plate. The food is good, tasty but I feel the service is terrible. The entire counter was a chaos and they hardly could hear us order. Their giggling, gossip and loud laugh filled the entired space.

Highly recommend the moorish eggs! Will definetly be back. Coffee is excellent, staff friendly and the Cafe is spacious and cozy.

Tucked away down a narrow lane, and above the general eyeline of passers by, this is a hidden gem of a place. Really friendly staff, delicious food and drink, and a warm, lively but relaxed atmosphere. We shared a whole feast of mixed plates along with sangria, and left very happy. I'll definitely be back for dinner and also to try the breakfast.

The Mezze Bar, is a MUST visit whenever we're in Auckland. We love it. The food is great, the service is friendly and efficient. Quirky warm friendly ambience, and who can go past a carafe of Sangria?!!!! Seek it out on your next day in Auckland, whatever the time of day, you won't be disappointed

So cool that this place has lasted all these years, and is still going strong! fantastic range of delicious food. Great cozy atmosphere, good for dates or friend catch ups. For a classic experience try the Mezze plate with the Red Sangria! Great vegetarian options!

Wheelchair accessible if someone sees you and opens the door. Great people, food and service. Being a wheelchair user was surprised to see the accessible entry to the area was closed and locked. Surely security know in this day and age we go out to dinner at night. That entry should not be locked until after the Mezze is closed and all customers have left.

Lovely spot for tapas and mezes. Great atmosphere, good friendly service and very tasty food. Gets very busy, worth booking a table. We couldn't get a table a month ago, but we're determined to try it. We weren't disappointed.

Upon walking (well on crutches) into the cafe, I was made to feel welcome. The style of the decor was so relaxing, leaving me relaxed. The staff were friendly and very helpful when choosing what to eat. I chose a quiche which came with a salad, also a large flat white coffee. Quiche, was yummy, and soft, it woke up my taste buds. The salad dressing was exquisite, tantalizing and added to the flavor. Congrats to the chef. Overall, tasty food, great coffee, awesome staff, so please come and see and taste for yourselves.

This place could easily be a gem..... it is not. Prices have you expecting quality.. but it's mediocre. The interior needs alot of love. Looks a bit of a hole in the wall, but not in a good way. Either the owner needs to pass this place to someone who cares or spend more time personally fixing the joint. Zero passion here.

We had our team dinner and the food simply amazing.. Right in the middle of a busy city, a hidden gem bar in Durham and you can find comfort in their Mediterranean cousin! I cant stop eating the chicken liver pate with crispy toast, just soo yum! Highly recommended!

A vending machinev would be more accurate to say. It's not that the service is bad, it's non-existent. 15' waiting for the menu, waitresses hanging around doing nothing and we were sent to the bar to order our drinks. They handed me a can without even a glass. Wonderful!

Looking for a brunch place in town with the kids, wandered into mezze bar. Lovely food, lovely staff, kids had a great time looking out over Queen Street. So glad the Mezze Bar is still as good as I remember it from my uni days.

The chill and charm of a jazz bar with a vibrant and bustling yet relaxed atmosphere, but be forewarned: it gets loud enough to make conversation difficult.

This is one hell of a place for any event that involves food and chilling. Love everything about this place. It's so economical and the food is packed with middle Eastern flavors. Thanks team we will be back as usual.

Mezze Bar is my go-to place for dessert, the almond tart is a favourite! I recently went with friends to celebrate a birthday and the staff were so kind to have added cute decorations to the cake! I couldn’t thank them properly so I really hope this review reaches them! Thank you so so much, it was such a thoughtful and cute touch❤️
