I really can't believe how good is this place!! unbelievable, I have told all my friends about it. The dish in the picture is $15!!! Are you serious? The rate between quality and price extremely high. Delicious!! Congratulations guys!. They have every day of the week with a special, so Tuesday is steak day. A plus: the guy in the bar really hot and friendly 😂😂😂😂🔥. All the stuff friendly 😉😊

Attended a private function for my cousins' 40th in the courtyard area. It's a Great looking bar, funky toilets (weird to say I know, but they are 😆) comfortable seating areas, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food we had was fresh and tasty. Ordered an assortment of cocktails. They were really good and not at all weak. Would definitely visit again when in the country.

Delicious chicken wings. Crunchy, saucy, meaty and have a great deal on them every Friday. Delicious coffee too for those Sunday mornings. Pizza was so-so, crust and ingredients could be improved. Good choice of beers, nice staff and nice seating outside.

Was a great place to go & relax, I had the burger special which was a chicken, bacon & Brie burger which came with a side of fries & aioli. They have an outdoor area that is dog friendly, & the staff were very efficient & courteous & my food arrived promptly. This is my girl waiting quietly for our food! We love our lunch dates!

Went there for the chicken wings special. Really good! Haven't had a bad experience here ever. The steak special also really good.

Staff are friendly. They have deals mostly everyday check. We went to have the steak during their Tuesday deal. I was disappointed. I ordered medium well but they gave me well done. The meat ended up hard to chew. The taste of the sauce was nice. We tried their polenta im not impress with it. My friend who recommended this bar said it was not like that last time they went. It was a cheap meal so not much expectations.

Great courtyard, friendly service. Steak night was a hit! Some of our steak was overcooked, but overall was a very pleasant experience.

I bought 1 x prosciutto pizza to take away. I paid $27.50 and it has maybe 1.5 pieces of prosciutto and not much on it too. (Size is also very small) The bread + toppings are very dry, and it’s not good at all. I will spend my $27.50 on something else for sure next time.

It is great to have Malt as my local, it is a relaxed and friendly place with different options for dining including a great back courtyard. Staff are welcoming and on to it, good table service too even if you are just popping in for a drink. Wines available in large or small pours which is fun, also some nice cocktails if you feel like a treat - they make an excellent rum espresso martini. Usually we will just get a mixture of the snack type dishes, they are always tasty, come out fast, and good value for money. Thanks for being so consistent over the years Malt!

The staff were so sweet, good sports and a brilliant first stop off for our NZ trip. The $15 Steak night on a Tuesday was to die for.

Great 50c wings after work on Fridays! So good, and gluten-free friendly too.

Went in for a meal as new to the area was unsure to take a seat or wait to be seated.we both had pizza a drink ,side and dessert. The pizza wasn't good.the base either was a brought dough or was left enough to prove as was so heavy.the one with halloumi and kumera was not nice at all.the halloumi was raw and the kumera was just 2 big chunks so very soggy ,the base was very oily.The fries with curry sauce,fries were hot the curry sauce to think and lots of lumps and wasn't warm.the drinks where flat.the dessert the brownie was swimming in choc sauce in bottom of glass,tiramisu wasn't a tiramisu ,sponge cake in side was very dry with lumps of mascaponi cheese and cream on top was from a can was very nice to eat.i also had a crack I'm my glass and the waiter wiped his nose with his hand and never washed his hands and was more interested in the news paper . Ican see kitchen from where we was sitting and a female chef's hair wasn't properly put up.The place was clean.im trying not to pick but I own my own food buissness in another country so this is feed back.thank you so much

We were seated but not given menus right away another party came in after us and was seated and given menus before us. Which we found a little surprising. We got the special and it was very good. After the initial problem the person who served us was very attentive and professional.

Nice place for a casual mid-week lunch. Good atmosphere and service. Also some good mid-week specials. We will be going back.

I don't know what to say about this place, best steak meal in town, perfect bacon butties, Scottish music up loud. I wish I'd gone on a Saturday, not Sunday.

Thank you Malt bar. I have attended a few family functions here and the service is awesome n food is great. The outside area is wonderful for private functions & drinks are good too.

Didn't order food so can't rate that, but we loved this place. It was recommended as one of the top child-friendly bars, so we thought we'd give it a go and will definitely return. They also had a superb non-alc range.

Staff are really good. Food was average. The steak I ordered was the worst steak I've ever had. Tough no flavour . Horrible salad. Otherwise service was good.

Chicken wings are delicious and the Friday 50c deal is great. Their Guinness is decent but sometimes poured with too big of a head and with bubbles but generally it’s fine. The atmosphere is always good and staff are friendly.

We had my brothers surprise 40th at Malt and it was amazing!! Food was great, our set up was outside and it was really nice. Shout out to our waiter Ash who did a stunning job getting all of our drink orders and making us laugh. We'll be back for sure :)

We Had a Surprise 40th Birthday over the weekend in the court yard. Our guests loved the Venue, great food, friendly staff, positive vibes. Ash and Danny were our amazing hosts who went beyond for us. My Fams Especially loved Ash who was very attentive and looked after everyone throughout the night. Go upstairs to get views of Rangitoto. Food was excellent but when we got there the kitchen didn't open till 5pm. It may open for lunch then close and reopen. Before then it's hot chips.

Wooow where to begin... Great music playing, your staff pleasant and professional. The food was fine done quality at a very reasonable price. My beer frosted glass and perfectly poured, scenic atmosphere almost as if your having dinner at a friend's house in the backyard. I enjoyed every minute I spent here! Thank you Malt Public House.

Excellent friendly service. Very enjoyable dishes, even if some of them are a bit odd (for instance the cheese and chicken dip, it feels like it should be queso dip with corn chips and fried chicken pieces to dip in it, but it's cheese dip with shredded chicken mixed in) but they're all very enjoyable. Nightly specials are great value, for instance $15 for a steak main dish and a milkshake.

Friends hosted an event here, lovely atmosphere. I wish I had got the waiters name who was outstanding. He remembered drink orders and the people who ordered them, didn’t get a single drink wrong the whole event. Brilliant.

wouldn’t personally recommend. Food & service was not great. After waiting for a long time for the food, half the table received their meals and shortly after the other half were told the kitchen no longer had their choice. So we finished our meals long before the others even got theirs. Also noticed multiple other tables left with full plates

Definitely my favorite eatery/watering hole in Grey Lynn. I live near Malt and really have only discovered it properly in the last 6 months, to which I have become a regular. Atmosphere is great, my favorite place to sit is out back on the deck. There are umbrellas for summer and heaters for winter and the gardens are really well cared for which definitely enhances the atmosphere. Food is to a good standard with the usual pub-type grub available. Think pizzas, burgers and sides but made to a standard you would expect in Grey Lynn. Service is pretty good to, the bar manager really knows her stuff and makes a decent bloody mary. Plenty going on from quiz nights to live music which isn't overwhelmingly loud. You can enjoy the music and have a conversation with someone at the same table - other Auckland pubs should take note! Overall, I feel privileged to be able to call this pub my local.

I came here for a work function and the service and food were great, and it was generally just a fun place to be. Our main waiter was Asher who was just amazing in terms of service, friendliness, and just being an awesome person to be around! Thanks so much Asher! :D

Really nice place, staff are friendly. No love in the food. Burgers were so plain we make better at home.

Just the right kind of setting my friends and I needed for a chill evening. The cherry on top was when we were there on a Thursday night, Six60 member; Matiu, Chris and Marlon spent a few, good minutes there and we quickly took the chance to have a photo op with them.

Excellent knowledgable staff, live music, lively atmosphere, food was tasty with good portions and reasonably priced ($18-27) and the cocktails were fantastic. Best of all it’s dog friendly! One of the staff brought over a dog bowl of water. A really kind touch.

This is our regular friday lunch destination. Great courtyard to sit in if the weather is fine and you've got a booking or arrive early enough. Great selection of pub meals, great taste and good size. Average value for money but outstanding service.

Went for the steak special. Was a bit of a wait, but understandable as it was quite busy. Staff were upfront about the wait times, which was appreciated. Food was good quality at a great price. Would definitely visit again.
