Dinned for a Saturday lunch Food was sub par - short of any refinement. The entree Raw kingfish - a little tough and the lime dressing was flat- did not lift the flavours at all. The (over) seared beef was good, but the sauce had an Indian sauce style that really did not match the beef. Mains The snapper was dry and oily- pan deep fried, to a crisp, not enough sauce accompanied it to save the flavours (fish and chip shops do beater snapper) The beef short rib, small, and did fall apart on my plate, it still had some membrane, not adding to the pleasure. The gravy was salty, Maggie style. To cap it off the salad was swimming in a thick mayonnaise- that tasted like ETA brand. - we didn’t stay for desert ….

The food is outstanding - Michellin star quality. The portion sizes are quite small, but that's ok because the quality is so good, as is the presentation and flavour. Customer service is faultless - the waiters are very friendly, really know the menu, and respond well to special requests from fussy eaters. The atmosphere is also really nice - no loud music playing, comfy chairs and a beautiful environment to eat in. Went here for my birthday, and will definitely be back in the future.

Food was ok but definitely not worth the price. Had sashimi, oyster and octopus for entree and salmon and onglet for mains. Complimentary bread and prawn were served at start. Octopus- nothing special. Balance with tomatoes was ok but the sauce…the dish tasted similar to the complimentary prawn. Probably the same and overpowering sauce was used for both. Salmon- crispy skin but totally blend overall. Onglet- execution was poor. Ordered medium but got medium rare almost rare. Had massive tendon each piece thats so hard such that it makes your knife look dull. Not the quality that you expect in fine dining. Best dish we had was sashimi and oyster which were raw. Very disappointing for french fine dining. Even so, you can find many other places that make much better sashimi and oyster in auckland with that price. Service- waiter was attentive but did not explain the dish when he serves. Not something you expect for fine dining. Been to many michellin restaurants in NZ and overseas. This place is not near to any michellin standard as they advertise. Will visit for casual dining but definitely will not come back for fine dining.

The food here is some to remember. We started with complimentary bread, fresh seaweed butter and beef tartare. We ordered the Roma tomatoes and langoustine, followed by the ribeye steak and mushroom risotto. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was of a high standard. To note they have changed the menu a couple days after our visit, so will definitely return to try out their new dishes.

Good quality food and amazing vibes and service. Most mains come with side so well worth it. Steak was well cooked and perfectly seasoned. All sides were delicious. Good wine selection too. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a quiet dining experience in a comfortable setting. I would definitely come back.

I had dinner here with my best friend!! Place is so nice, calm.... seats at the restaurant entrance look a bit like Pariiiis style!! It's soooo calm and cosy, lighting is so good for a good yarn (if you're with the good person :)), waiters were so nice, (I don't drink so my mocktail was good for a mocktail like a real mocktail! Dessert was good (I liked it), my friend had a vegeterian plate (was yum and artistically cute) - my duck plate was okay (it was fine but I had better = I finished my plate). Oh we had bread and smocked flavour butter!!! It was good as a waiting for food starter (I love bread and butter 🤤)..... Overall beautiful experience. 😋

Definitely the worst meal I have had in my life. Boiled carpaccio (I know, you think I’m mad, but no, it was literally boiled, brown, cold), chewy scotch fillet, the appalling, dry duck. This restaurant should be closed, it’s an offence to the French cuisine, and an embarrassment to the amazing Auckland food culture. I would not have paid for the meal, but I was there with my partner who took me out for dinner on my birthday, and who doesn’t take confrontation easily. So he paid the ridiculous amount of money for the most disgusting meal ever. Do not go there. Do not go there. Do not ever go there.

Went in for dinner and ordered the Little Barrier Island scallops and braised pork belly starters. Both starters tasted great and were very flavourful. For mains we got the braised pork rib and scotch fillet which also tasted great and perfectly cooked. Score would have been a 5, however, the service could have been a tad more attentive. Like we got our food before our drinks as an example. Also, I feel like the rump should of have had minimal embellishments on the plate like salad or potatoes or something small (not just a piece of steak plopped on the plate. That was definitely a first for me seeing this type of presentation if I am to be honest). On a side note. It definitely pays to be an Accor Plus member due to the great dining discounts received at Accor restaurants regardless of if you are staying at the hotel or not.

Wonderful lunch. The food is absolutely excellent and our waitress, Bianca, a delight. I really appreciate the free bread (which increasingly restaurants charge top dollar for) and the fact that they offer some wines that are NOT from New Zealand. Highly recommended. We'll be back for dinner soon.

Lovely food and friendly service. The food was delicious and well presented. Sat by the fire and enjoyed the view of the harbour while we ate.

My second time visiting this restaurant and this time is for a table of 8 for Christmas dinner. The atmosphere was nice for us, but I would imagine it would be quite noisy for the table of two behind us. Food was beautifully presented and tastes great but the mains took a long time to come out. Service was alright, it wasn’t amazing.

Very nice building and restaurant. Very good food for the money. Good chioce of classic cocktails. Very good choice of wine. Bread and butter before the food. We ate "Pan-Seared Market Fish From The Bay Of Plenty. Celeriac, granny smith apple, vermouth berrue blanc" and "Costal Spring Lamb Loin. Duck fat potateos, sweet carrot puree, cognac green pepper sauce" as mains. As dessert we ate Salted Caramel Brownie & Vanilla Ica Cream. Rich chocolate brownie, white chocolate ganache, salted caramel, vanila ice cream and " Macadamia & Raspberry Vegan Cheese Cake. Macadamia and raspberry vegan cheese cake, berry compote.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at La Marée restaurant in Auckland recently, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a delightful evening. What truly stood out for me was the attention to detail and the evident passion that went into every dish. The chef's creativity and skill were in the unique flavour combinations and the impeccable presentation. It was evident that only the freshest and highest quality ingredients were used, resulting in a truly memorable dining experience. We noticed that the restaurant was quite busy that night and the service was a bit slow in clearing our tables and attending to us. However, I would highly recommend La Marée restaurant to anyone looking for an exquisite dining experience in Auckland. The combination of exceptional food, friendly service, and inviting ambiance truly sets La Marée apart. I eagerly anticipate returning to create more cherished memories there. Thank you very much for the wonderful experience!

Vegetarian food not balanced meal and small serving with next to no protein. Only 3 types of mushroom in a tasteless dish. Not filling at all. Lamb servings for my fellow diner was very small but tasty. Desserts very pretty but mine was moderately tasty.

Despite a busy Sat morning, the staff was very accommodating, warm, and efficient. Enjoyed the french toast, eggs bene with rosti and coffee very much. Will come back again to try the lunch menu and high tea. Many thanks.

Great dining experience. Went there for the Valentine's menu. Dishes were prepared and arranged pleasant for eye and taste very delicious. However wine serving was a disaster beginning with an out of stock choice without providing alternative and continued with inexperienced service.

Had a lovely girls night at Lava, enjoying the 5 course degustation with wine match. The food was absolutely beautifully presented and they were able to alter the menu to cater for me (gluten free, vegetarian) with no sacrifices - Often my version of a meal can be a bit lacking, but at Lava, my meal was exceptional, to the point that the other girls were looking at my meals with envy - not because they didn't like what they had, but because my meal was so special! Service was great, decor is interesting and I imagine in the daytime the view over the water is lovely. Am glad Lava took part in restaurant month this year, as before this I had no idea this restaurant existed! Would definitely recommend. Not given 5 stars as the glasses we had the wine match in were really tiny - would rather have a small amount in a normal size glass, than a small glass filled up!

Such an incredible dining experience last night! The food, drinks and service were perfect from start to finish. Special thanks to Beth for being the best waitress any of us have had in a long time!

Had a buffet breakfast here with our dear friends after a Saturday morning mass. It's a relaxing, good quiet place for catch-ups. Don't miss their bircher muesli, it's divine.
