Okay let's be honest it's covid and businesses are hurting but this place should not be. From the very beginning we had a great experience. Our hostess/waitress greeted us with a great smile and we were seated quickly. We were not very versed in French cuisine but she was very friendly, patient and incredibly well versed. We came for breakfast but others in our party ordered lunch. Ours meals came out quickly and hot and were amazing. No meal, and I mean none, were disappointing. I had my share of disappointing meals as noted on Google. So do yourself, your family and mates a favor and head over here, you will not be disappointed. And thank you Le Garde-Manager for an awesome experience.

This place looks very authentic. Our entree dishes were very nice, aperitifs drinks, snails and chicken liver pate. Also they add free bread to the table. My partner enjoyed his main beef bourguignon but I didn't like my lamb shank, it felt old to me and not that yummy as i tried before. Creme brûlée is almost perfect but some part of it on the top was a bit burnt. Also, at some point there was a lot of smoke in the air from the kitchen which wasn't very nice. The service wasn't impressive, no greeting or much taking to the customer at all unless you trying ask something. We enjoyed our time anyway.

Oh do delicious. Hearty meal with good balanced flavor. Nothing too bold, done just right. I like how orders came out together so there is no food envy while waiting for own dish! The bread was good too 😋

The meat quality is good, as is customer service. However as can be seen from the photo the sauce is identical for the chicken and beef - they ran out of lamb even so we came at 1pm, and sauce has an overpowering wine taste, with part of the beef meat being burnt. There were also hardly any vegetables and the potatoes were very plain. Not worth the price.

Found this restaurant while going to Real Groovy which is close by. Was almost fill at 1pm on a wet stormy Saturday afternoon. Had the goat cheese salad, onion soup and a crepe with a poached pear inside. Food was superb as was the service. Reasonable prices and good selection of drinks. Will be back.

I came in for brunch today and chose the eafs benedicte because previously I’ve really enjoyed my experience with the dish at Le Garde-Manger. Unfortunately, the dish came out drenched in a laughable amount of hollandaise sauce that was impressively bland. It was like someone poured a glass of milk on eggs and toast. The whole dish was lukewarm and had clearly been sitting out for a while - evident by the fact I didn’t even need a knife to get through the absolutely soaking wet “toast”. The tomato was also barely roasted. Honestly very disappointed because there have clearly been changes made in the kitchen that have resulted in a huge drop-off in food quality, I’m genuinely confused how a chef would let it leave the kitchen — never mind the 45 minute wait. I couldn’t be bothered complaining in person because they were clearly busy, we had been waiting for a while already, and I already felt bad for the waiter for having to bring out my food. Pictured is the comparison between how the dish used to look in March vs. what I ate today. Eggs Benedict soup.

Loved this place for something different. Had French onion soup and galette. My fiancee had snails and coq au vin. Nice atmosphere. Great food. Would love to try some other options another time. The food was so incredibly fast, but no one seemed to mind that we took out time leaving. Hope to be back again.

I was craving comfort food. This was close to our hotel - and I am so glad it was. We got the French onion soup and Tartiflette and of course crepes for dessert! The food was really tasty and just as good as anything we had in France. I can definitely recommend the Tartiflette!

I was looking for a place to have my brunch/lunch, just passed by this restaurant and was caught by its style, something made me want to have a closer look, without knowing what at first. Once I did, I understood what it was: it is a traditional French restaurant with typical decoration, and it was love at first sight, bringing me back to my home country I asked the owner, who's not only French but from Normandy where crepes come from, for his recommendation, he mentioned the Savoyarde galette (a galette being a savory crepe, and the Savoyarde one being with raclette cheese, bacon, onion, potato and cream) I went for it, and I must say it was really REALLY yummy, just loved every single bite I warmly recommended this restaurant, best one I've been to in Auckland/New-Zeland

Always grabbing foods when I’m available. Le garde manger is absolutely the best choice! Apple tarte and chocolate fondant are the best since I have a sweet tooth!!

Everything detail of this place is designed to make you feel like you're sitting in a cute restaurant in France. The seating, the waitstaff, the table cloths, the warm wooden setting, it's all great. Stopped by here for a pre-show dinner and it didn't fail to satisfy. The galettes were met with rave reviews from the table and the sirloin steak was superb. My substitution of the blue cheese sauce for the mushroom sauce was met without any hesitation. 5/5

Went here twice for brunch during our 3 night stay in Auckland and loved it! We had the French toast and the French breakfast to share which were both delicious and filled us up for the day. The waiter was very attentive and it felt like you really could be in a French bistro somewhere!

Loved our meal here. Commenced with lamb ravioli, then I had the snapper which was cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed beef bourguignon. Crepes Suzette was a winner!

Tres magnifique! A popular restaurant with fast and friendly service. We loved the French onion soup avec croutons et la Dijonnaise galette. Crepes Suzette and a Creme Brulee to follow. Superb 👌 (It's an easy walk there up Queen St after a concert or show).

Food was brilliant, decor stunning. I'm not French but if it wasn't 100% authentic, I'm a bad judge. Very popular, even on a weeknight, I would book. Get a crepe, flambed at your table for your viewing pleasure. As we say in Oz, do yourself a favour.

A charming authentic French Restaurant serving classic dishes including Escargot, Beef Bourgogne and many other favourites. Kir Royale to start, I had the snails poached in Garlic butter then the Scotch Fillet, with Gratin Potatoes, fresh salad and a Portobello Mushroom sauce. Delicious with a glass of Vaqueras from the thoughtful and carefully chosen French wine list. So cozy and quite romantic - we were lucky to get in because once we were seated the whole place was buzzing with every table taken.. Delightful warm cafe atmosphere with historic pictures on the walls and real decor that made me truly feel for an hour and a half that I was back sitting in a side street in Lyon. A friendly French owner to boot - he flamed my Absinthe at the table to finish a wonderful relaxed dining experience. Lovely French & European waitresses provided immaculate unobtrusive service. Definitely one of the best kept secrets in Auckland and unreservedly recommended by me! I will be sending many clients there!

Excellent restaurant and exactly as if you really were in France. We had gorgeous venison civet which was one of the specials of the day.

What a quaint wee Resturant. A real French feel with nice decor and decorations. The staff were friendly and service was great. Food was very nice and they had a good selection of wines with a couple of locals thrown in too. Clean toilets were appreciated. Well done would eat here again.

Great hospitality, good food at reasonable price. I ordered chicken and fish of the day for mains, together with onion soup. We had some beers and crepe! Everything is good :) Coq au vin (chicken leg) is recommended

10/10 :Quaint restaurant with a heart! Beautiful service from the staff and to the owner and chef especially. He looked after us the whole night considering we are a group of 12. Definitely made our night memorable and for that we are very grateful. The food was top notch. Worth visiting. Will definitely be back!

Stumbled onto this place and had the best meal in my life that I can remember. Had the escargot and scotch beef fillet and they were cooked and presented impeccably. Service was on point and friendly. A little bit of a wait was expected for genuine and amazing French cooking. This place has no signage out front and doesn’t need it. Treat yourself and have a meal here. 😍

Nestled in the upper part of Queen St, Auckland, surrounded by predominantly Asian inspired cuisine, we literally stumbled across this wonderful bistro-cum cafe and were silenced at the brunch treats on offer. Sweet or savoury was the decision and to be honest, either would have satisfied the senses and actually a good excuse to make a swift return visit. Dinner is also planned sometime soon! A shame the Chateauneuf du pape wasn’t available by the glass, but I opted for an Italian Peroni in what felt like locale close to Sacré-Cœur itself, my favourite spot in Paris, a city I haven’t been to in 25 years or more. My lovely lunch partner opted for the crepe with mushroom. Made from buckwheat it was divine. I know because I also stole a mouthful. Personally, the Oeufs Garde-Manger with sausages, roast tomato, bacon, mushroom, eggs and Brie on toast filled me to the brim to the point I will be eating light tonight. Absolutely sensational and in a country where a sausage of quality is hard to find, this has to be recommended in the highest regard. We left smiling and can’t wait to return. My smattering of schoolboy French used, our friendly waiter wishing us a pleasant rest of Saturday. We’ll be back, Monsieur, very soon! Tres Bien indeed.

I have no words. Having spent much of my youth in southern France. This is as close as you will come to proper French cuisine. I haven't had a dish - in my life - that's almost brought me to tears. If you have ever watched the film Ratatouille, where the food critic tastes the dish and gets dragged back to his childhood, well, I tucked into the Tarteflette and had the same experience. Simply Wow. Service, wine selection, food, atmosphere. One of the best in the country.

Tried the Rabbit Ravioli and it was great. The rest of my family tried the Beef, Duck and Steak dishes and were equally as happy with the flavour and portion sizes. Definitely would come back!

We had an enjoyable evening here. Our food was great and our waitress was very nice. They have a very Gallic menu as you'd expect with a focus on gallettes. They also have a well designed specials board that for us was irresistible. The only detracting from a five star review was that the duck breast was overcooked however it wasn't tough and still tasted ok. The crepes for dessert were divine! It's a :good to go back" for me!
