Its very famous and we order 2 butter naan for my son. Its whole naan like this as below pics. We thought quality will be good. But its so bad . Will never order again.

Chawla’s used to be one of best Indian food in CBD but recently from past 2 years I have seen dip in the quality and hence stopped going often. Have seen colors in some dishes, especially in chicken dishes. We earlier used to visit this place for office / team lunch, used to enjoy food. They have happy hours rates which catch the attention. Looks like this construction in that area has taken a toll and it’s seen empty most of the times.

One of the most delicious Indian food I’ve ever tried. This little cozy restaurant is located in Auckland CBD. I had the chicken madras, yummy !… it includes a portion of steamed jasmine rice. Roti bread is apart. The prices are perfectly reasonable and the quality of the products is high. I came back 2 nights after the first time I tried it, my favorite Indian food in Auckland!

We had a really bad experience, we ordered tandoori chicken and it was so smelly and was not up-to the standards. The manager was really respectful and nice but the another lady may be the owner she was so rude. She said we will offer you half tandoori chicken that’s makes me feel really disappointed came for a genuine feedback as i was a regular customer.

Their lunch special is totally worth it if you are looking for some cheap and tasty eats which is pretty hard to find in Auckland nowadays. Tried the mutter panner which came with rice, Naan, paapad and a drink of your choice for 12.50$. Was really very tasty. Service and attention was top notch. Will be back to try the chicken and lamb dishes.

I had place an order from Uber Eats cream chicken and I found this white Big hair which ruined my food. This is the food & safety issue which I am arising unacceptable, Pathetic & unprofessionalism. Is it the service which you give to your customers? I have Paid $40 For this Food. If you Can’t give Good food service shut down your restaurant. This is the second time when I place the order and happened same thing again & again. I’ll tell 50 Other people not to place order from this particular restaurant. Thanks For your Lovely service.

Very poor customer service. I didn’t get to dine in this restaurant. 17/08/23 I went there to experience a good meal. Place wasn’t busy. But the staff member totally ignored me for a while and kept doing what she was doing. Didn’t even bother to say “ Hi”, common courtesy wasn’t there. To me it Looks like she is not getting paid enough to give a good service or she simply hate people. Finally she gave me a annoyed look and ask “ YES” in a loud voice . I said “ I need a table for one” . She point out the table next to me while she is standing inside the counter with a very unpleasant look. I didn’t feel comfortable with her welcome/ attitude and realised that I couldn’t expect anything good from this frustrated staff member.she should not be in service industry. I personally wouldn’t recommend this place and wouldn’t go there at all.

All food we ate were amazing! Friendly, good atmosphere! I loved spinach one and also nut’s one. I will definitely come back!

Great customer service from Neha every time we visit, always happy to serve and kudos to the chef as well for always delivering great quality food on time. Would definitely recommend if you’re ever in CBD and crave Indian food. Bonus: great chai and they also serve thumbs up and old monk! With good Bollywood music playing around it has a great vibe.

We went last night. Service was horrible, we were not served water and tissues at first place. In our order one item was missing . But still we were charged for that on bill. No one came to ask on table if we need anything. We have go again and again on the counter order more naans in between our dinner. The drinks which we ordered (as soon as we reached) but we were served after 40mns.( just drink which they don’t need to cook). We ordered black paper chicken, they made cream chicken. When we asked chef, he went in kitchen , added black paper on the top and gave us back. And the worst was the water bottle. You all can see in pictures. We asked two bottles but were like that. When we complained about that the girl on counter told that we are very busy. That’s why. How can you give water in bottle like this with mould. How unhygienic. There was no apologies from staff . No one made effort to come and serve new water bottle on table. Waited for 20 mins. At last, I went on counter and told the girl again. But she made same excuse that we are busy . Will never ever go back. And will never recommend. Think before you go.

Wonderful Indian food. One of the best lamb saags I have ever had. Host seemed a bit abrupt and stressed when we arrived but seriously she is running this restaurant alone so just be patient, she actually was very kind. Food is worth waiting for.

Authentic Indian fare done to perfection. Fresh food, excellent spices, perfect portions. Will definitely be returning.

Jaspreet is a great host and the curries are freshly made and very delicious. I also recommend that you give their masala tea a try. My favourite dishes include: Chicken Vindaloo, Chili Chicken, Chicken 65, Sizzling Tandoori Chicken & Chicken Biryani, their rice is aromatic and their soft Naan or Garlic Naan bread that you can dip into the gravy (masala) for the ultimate and most beautiful Indian cuisine and experience Auckland city has to offer. All their vast array of delicious dishes are of top quality. For dessert I highly recommend Mango Kulfi. I eat here frequently during the week for this business is truly worthy of supporting! My go to Indian in the city, consistently tasty and value for money. Staff always friendly. Try the menu, it is full of delights.

The food was fantastic. Very fresh, tasty, and the mango chicken was delicious, just a hint of mango & not too sweet, we had 6 dishes and all were very authentic, quality dishes. Service was a little slow as it seems they were swamped by Uber eats orders when we arrived, but the food was well worth a bit of wait. Thanks!

My family came here to eat in 2014 for a visit and the food was so memorable we came back again in 2022. The meals were so delicious, we were seated and served quickly, and had a very authentic vibe. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough

We ordered butter chicken, lamb madras, and chicken biryani. they were all so SO salty, like, 3 portions of salt in each dish. Not sure if the taste was so-so just because the salt killed all the spice or not. The chicken biryani's clove taste was also quite strong, which could be good or bad depending on your preference, I didn't mind it too much but one less clove in it wouldve been perfect for me. The one good thing was the meat = both the lamb and chicken were tender and charred quite well, if only the sauce didn't kill the experience it wouldve been great

(Visited on 21 August 2023, reviewed on 23 August 2023) My friends and I went to this restaurant for dinner. We ordered the Lamb Do Pyaza, Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani with the naan baskets (cheese, garlic and plain). All were delicious, especially the lamb Do Pyaza, which we asked for the Asian spicy level (not very spicy for me though). I also tried the mango kulfi and Masala Chai. The Masala Chai could be better as it tasted like a regular tea instead of one with spices, and the kulfi was not bad. Overall, it is still quite good for an affordable Indian meal in the CBD.

The Fish curry was wonderful. Wife loved it and the portion size was great. However we got sweet chilli sauce which was a big let down. We expected to have sezhwan chutney

I’ve tried nearly all the Indian cuisines around CBD but this one is the best. One of their specialties is their fresh Naan which tastes really good with their wide range of curries. Thumbs up for their customer service as well.

I was pulled in by the advertisement board of the evening special. However it was not until I had finished my meal that I was asked if I wanted the beverage that came as part of the special offer. If they would have provided the drink at the start I may have ordered another as the butter chicken was very tasty 😋

Do yourself a favour and eat here. My friend and I wandered in here randomly when all the nearby restaurants were closed due to a water outage. The service and food we received were amazing, I've travelled to India before and this is the best Indian food I've ever eaten. It was so nice we came back with friends a couple of nights later. I'll absolutely be back when I'm back in Auckland. Thanks!

Ordered Tandoori chicken tonight and was so gross. Had guests over tonight as we stay in cbd area and felt like some takeaways. Went to this place because heard good things about it but were we wrong? Chicken smelt terrible and called to complain and female manager gave such attitude on the phone so had to go in to show chicken and sauce was off and not tasty. When my partner and friend went in Physically was a different attitude to the lady who spoke on the phone. You guys need to appreciate all your customers not give such attitude if a customer is speaking the truth. We were offered free tandoori after this but refused but glad the option and accountability was taken. Bad experience I'll stick to Ravis next time. Do not recommend. Really disappointing 😞

My friend and I had dinner here the other night. The food was so great and the prices were reasonable and the staff were lovely. Especially the lady serving food was really good in greating and providing service. Nice one!!!! Will be back soon!!!!

Great service was left comfortable while dining but naan bread was cold when served suggesting better preparation could have been made but overall great experience and my mother really enjoyed her meal so definitely worth a visit!

Really enjoyed our meal at this cute little restaurant. Food was really tasty and well priced. Service very good. The seat are just a bit tight to get into. Love the blue decor, especially behind the bar. Love that it's open til late. Perfect for a meal after a show or when you need a good feed at the end of a big day.

Just would like say thank you to chef .. amazing food, service was dammmmm slow i believe front staff was struggling though. The hot guy on liquor station was helping him taking order on tables .. i feel bad Everytime we had to remind him or call him for something missing on table .. 😂 definitely food was just amazing 🤩 .. but service could be more better with extra staff on weekend.. thank you boys on Saturday night shift .. Restaurant decor looks good.. toilets were clean which is not usually expected on busy night well done team

Featured below are papadums, samosas, butter chicken, cream chicken with rice and naan. There was something odd with the cream chicken? Think it needed salt because it was super bland. Perhaps they just took mild to the extreme. I didn't enjoy my main at all so wouldn't order it again. My friend said the butter chicken wasn't anything to write home about. Samosas were really tasty though! Went here recently for my friend's birthday dinner and I had a better experience food-wise. Butter chicken, lamb korma, lamb biryani, chilli chicken and naan was what we all agreed on and the food was tasty - the highlight for me being the lamb biryani and lamb korma. Service was quite slow and not very attentive even though it wasn't busy at all.

Great food, good value. We had the tandoori chicken and the Chawla’s Special, Cream Chicken. Then finished it up with the pistachio kulfi. Cocktails and wine made for a fine night indeed. Very nice, authentic flavours. Recommend and will return.

NEW MANAGEMENT as we were told. It's such a big change. We came 6 months ago and had a terrible time because of the rude female staff. Now they provide excellent customer service, great food, and reasonable price. We had chicken masala, prawn butter masala and garlic naan. Fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. We will come again.
