I'm not going to say I'm sort of a Thai food expert, but I am really a big fan of Thai food. This is my new found Thai restaurant, under ground the lorne street Gong Cha. It's very Thai from the design and the elements, so I did expect a lot of the food. Unfortunately, I must say, it is not Thai enough to me thou. Maybe I should have addressed I want Thai style when I ordered. Definitely a good restaurant to everyone, it is just I am craving for authentic Thai food, so.....

I have been to this place when it first open back in couple of years ago and back then the food was actually not bad. So I decided to make a visit on 28/03/22 and here are my thoughts.. Where to start…. Service from the staff was friendly, atmosphere of the shop was poor and the food was a total disaster.. especially a expectation from a Thai people like myself eating in a Thai restaurant, Chom Na have disappointed me so much. I had order Braised pork on rice, Roast Pork on rice and Grilled pork neck. -Braised pork: Taste bland, the base sauce was too runny like a water, meat was just ok but It can be better. -Roast Pork: Didn’t even cook the right pork or not even roast it, Sauce was tasteless apart from Tomato sauce mixed with soy sauce… and the dish were overfilled of sauce… I find this dish is the most disaster dish.. -Grilled pork neck : Didn’t even used the right part of the meat (which pretty much using the meat of Roast pork dish, is not even grilled it was only a stir fried pork meat only. Sauce tasted horrible. The dish was beyond disaster. I really felt this was a ripoff dishes. Overall the food was absolutely horrible… waste of my money and expectations, the only reason that 1 stars were given was the staff or else wouldn’t worth a start at all. Wouldn’t go back to this place ever again and hopefully the owners read my review and improve their dishes.. Photo didn’t taken.

I ordered a spicy beef stir fry. It was good. The restaurant was not warm inside. Self service water. Order, pay and sit down with a number and they will bring your food to you.

Well it is certainly spicy but thats about it. I am not sure is it because i ordered wrong dishes. Fish cake was super oily. Prawn stir fry came out like a soup with hardly three prawn. Pad kee Mao tasted alright but beef was a bit tough. Nothing special but average thai place. Service is nice

Great value food that is both filling and delicious. Open during alert level 3. Portion sizes are very generous which is fantastic if you are a ravenous eater like myself. Leaves you feeling satisfied after a long day. I wish the vegan options were labelled on the menu clearly, especially for those unfamiliar with Thai food. I had to ask the girl for advice but she was very nice and recommended me a couple dishes for me. 5/5

Went there with my colleagues for lunch. Tom yum soup was my colleagues favourite and I tried it as well. The portion is amazing, tastes also great.

Had the Pad Thai, and it was quite a generous portion. Just wished they had more hot sauce for our own table.

Absolutely fantastic! The noodles taste so nice and the staff members are very friendly. The price is reasonable and I would recommend everyone to eat here. The deep-fried chicken skin next to the counter is not good :(

The food was worth the price. The Sukiyaki Soup has a sour and spice taste, it took me a long time to eat though. There was a fair amount of ingredients and the soup was hot (temperature) so I had to keep blowing on the noodles😆

I have always walked past this place and finally tried it out. After going down the stairs, it leads you to a large dining area. The counter up front has the menu plastered on the walls and there are so many things to try. After much deliberation, I decided to try the Pad Pong Garee Beef, stir fried beef and veges in curry and egg. I ordered and grabbed a table in the large dining area. The flavours were really nice and the portions were decent. This is definitely a place I would return time and again if I was in the area. Edit: Pad See Ew had a nice sauce. The curry noodles tasted like Thai curry with noodles.

Great value for your work lunch. Food was bit sweet for me but it was tasty. They also sell the snacks and spicy Thai sauces.

Excellent Thai food restaurant that was an unexpected find for us in the CBD. Food was very delicious and hit all the right spots. Staff was very friendly and prices affordable. We're definitely going back to try more dishes.

Good Thai curries and efficient service. We tried two red: Vegetarian and Seafood, and one green Beef. They are served like soup and we kadled them over the steamed rice. Just the right taste and coziness to encourage conversation.

Where is your the passion for cooking?you guys used to cook really good but not anymore .Pad-kana-moo-krop the pork belly was dry not crunchy. Bbq pork with the red sauce it wasn't that good .you need to step up ,you know how to cook good food, just need more love and passion really.

Just realised that I've eaten here so many times but have never reviewed it. This is one of my go-to Thai spots in the CBD. Cheap eats, humble and underground. Staff are nice and the establishment is always clean and tidy. They also sell a bunch of other Thai eats at the counter and fridge such as desserts to takeaway, snacks, etc. I really like the kumara balls but don't eat them cold people - warm them in the microwave for about 20 or 25 seconds and enjoy (try not to scald your mouth). My favourite is the egg noodles and yellow fried rice. Thai fried rice and the curries are also tasty. The menu is quite extensive so I'm sure there'll be something that will tickle your taste buds.

A little ominous restaurant underground, food does taste like Thai, this time the soup is lukewarm and the meat was too dry.

This is my first visit to Chom Na restaurant. As a Thai who have been traveling and trying tons of Thai restaurants in different parts of the world, I cannot help myself but to rate them five stars. This is my first time ever to review Thai restaurants outside Thailand. I can just truly say that what the three dishes I have ordered tasted like home. I ordered 'Pad Kra Prao' (Pork Stir-fried with holy basil), 'Larb Moo' (Spicy Minced Pork Salad), and 'Pad Prik Khing' (Pork Stir-fried with sweet chilli paste and long beans). Regardless of vegetable component (as I understand they have to use some available and alternative ones), the taste is truly authentic. I requested that all the dishes to be extra spicy, and they were all perfectly seasoned. Well done chef!

Enjoyed my first lunch here courtesy of a friend. Delicious fresh beef larb, carrot salad, pad thai and fish skins. Cheap, spicy, flavourful. Nice service too. I'll be back:)

Always enjoy coming through to this restaurant! Great meal selection with good choice of meats for each dish. All the food I've had from here tastes fantastic while being great for a student budget (meals for me have averaged between $15-$17 depending on dish and meat choices). The meals are also quite filling :) Service is also fantastic as you pay for your order up front and then they get it to your table pretty quickly. Would definitely recommend checking out if you like this type of food - I know I'll be back again!
