Amazing place to enjoy the Mother Nature! You can have 3 hours walk loop track or close view of the water full. It’s a beautiful day. We just had picnic near the water full.

Do not miss this gem of a place especially if you have fussy little kids who complain after a short walk! With just a little walking you get to the beautiful falls and can sit and experience the magic all around. They also have other trails and hiking options! The paths are clearly marked and the greenery us just beyond stunning. As with other trails, hike etc please wear good shoes, bring water!

2.5 - 3 hours nice easy walking track. We enjoyed our walk. The weather was perfect on that day. The car park is small, and super busy during the holidays and on good weather days.

What a great hike! Due to all the rains there are some places where the walkway is starting to show signs of potential damages and slides, but it was still fantastic and we had a great walk. There are quite a bit of steps, I would say it requires a medium level of fitness. Enjoy

Great place to have a picnic or just hike. Swimming is good but wouldn't recommend as there has been deaths in the past, people swimming need to follow instructions but some don't. Generally a good day out type of thing.

Great track especially in summer, lots of shade. Note can be a wet track after rain. Lots of incline depending on which track you choose

Great waterfall, parking located very close to the falls. Well maintained tracks and steps. Quite a few options for tracks nearby from 20mins - 3-4 hours. We did the suspension bridge walk so some photos from there. Great activity for people of all ages.

Very popular place so be there before 10am to park near the entrance or park next to the camp site and walk down to the fall. No mobile phone signal at the carpark and around the waterfall so bring your walkie talkies!

Lovely day trip out of Auckland. If you’re just after a bit of walking do the 1.5 hours loopwalk as it leads you through beautiful scenery a long the way. Be prepared if you’re staying at the nearby Campground or doing the longer walks. Also check depending on which track you‘re wanting to do if it’s actually open due to the Kauri Dieback. Had a great day there, also walking along the dam is awesome.

The Hunua Ranges cover about 400 square kilometres along the south eastern side of the Auckland region. Most of the area lies within the Waharau Regional Park, which has more than 450 species of native plants. Hiking tracks in the park pass through dense native forests to high ridge lines that offer long range views to the city or the Firth of Thames. One of the popular shorter walks is to the impressive Hunua Falls. Swimming holes in the numerous streams and rivers offer a refreshing break on a more challenging hike. More information Several camping areas, equipped with the basic necessities, provide scenic accommodation. Bookings are through Auckland Regional Council. Mountain bikers are welcomed in the ranges and some exciting trails have been built by biking enthusiasts working with the regional council. Both the Mangatawhiri and the Mangatangi dams offer rainbow trout fishing along the face of the dams. Waitakere Ranges Before you go… Kauri is part of New Zealand’s heritage. Wonderful and easy walk with plenty of look out points. Get some great views of the valley and dam. Family friendly and kids could do the walk with ease. Definitely recommend giving it a go. Can do the main track and the suspension bridge in less than 3 hours.

This park offers great walks, great views, and friendly park ranger. There is great signage, maps offered near the car park, rest rooms and a well maintained path.

Such a beautiful place! We happened to go during a week of rain. The water was boisterous but the trails were still open

Great place to visit...enjoyed the sun. Very accessible and easy to go to. Road might be a bit tricky when wet but driving safely is all that matters...

Lovely walk, just don't do it at the hottest time of day. Allow plenty of time to do the bigger loops. If you are going to go all that way no point in just going and doing the little stroll to the waterfall! Makes the most of the day - take a picnic with you and swimming costumes to have a nice dip!

Great place to hike when it's raining. The bush shelters you so no worries about rain. Still need a raincoat but walking here is very pleasant when the weather is bad everywhere else.

So pretty, gorgeous bush. A range of walks for all levels of fitness. Lots of picnic areas and open spaces. The highlight being the waterfall
