First Saturday of the new year, not much variety but that is excusable since it’s still holiday season. What is not excusable is the cinnamon roll tasting like it is over 2days old. Extraordinarily stale to the point where the baking paper was inseparable and can only be removed with the the outer layer of the roll. Gave 2 star instead of 1 for the flavour of the mince and cheese pie filling. The pastry for the pie wasn’t great as it fell apart from the first bite and leaked everywhere.

Been visiting this place for years and used to love it but the quality has decreased over time while the prices stay high. The last few orders were disappointing, with the pies tasting entirely different to usual, very salty(?) can't quite pinpoint, and the fruit pastries not tasting like anything but pastry. The only consistent thing is donuts. But it's no wonder people say veganism is classist when you can go to another bakery and buy a $1.50 donut, meanwhile here it's $6 for the same. With all respect and much sadness, I will not be visiting Tart again.

The sign said Supreme Award Winner 2022/23 Chicken/Mushroom Pie, the most disgusting pie I have tasted. Like what did I just bite into, all I was left with was a mouthful of pepper slodge. The Mince/Cheese was so disappointing too, what is with all the herbs, they literally over powered the taste of the pie, yuckkkk. Come on Tart pick up your game, your flavour is so ordinary and dull. You're location is ideal to be in, but judging by my experience yesterday, you won't be there for too long if you continue with those flavors. You have lost a loyal customer.

Bought their pie & sandwich for late lunch and it contradicts from the sign outside. I definitely cannot say it's the best treats in the world.. I get what they are trying to do, but this is over exaggeration. The pie was dry and not warm enough for me. Lastly, the sandwich had way too much butter to compensate for dense bread and salad in the sandwich was wilted and lost the texture.. Overall experience was disappointing, but will try again in the future.

Very busy little shop. There was a queue even at around 11 in the morning. A real treat for vegans, but I feel many others would enjoy the food. The pastry for pies and sausage rolls is 'melt in the mouth'. Thoroughly recommend anyone to try this delicious range of food.

I've been a customer since before they were fully vegan. They're the best place in Auckland for vegan pastries and baked goods. The last two times I visited the owner was so nice and kept giving me compliments on my alternative style (I was the girl with bright yellow hair in all pink clothes)

Amazing vegan / plant based bakery. I always enjoy the food from here, whether it's donuts, sandwiches, pastries, savoury rolls, etc, etc. Only problem is I always buy too many things 😄

Amazing. The whole place is Vegan, so easy to make choices. The food is divine! Amazing moist cakes, slices, donuts savory pies, sandwiches, crossiants, etc. A wee bit pricey, but really worth it, the food is EXCELLENT. Great service too.

My partner and I were staying at the Convent Hotel down the street and went here every morning for breakfast. Delicious coffee, DIVINE pastries, and such nice people. The fruit Danish, sausage roll, cinnamon donut, and ham and cheese croissant were our favorites. We even took two of the ham and cheeses with us for lunch on our dolphin watching boat tour. A vegan breakfast fiend's dream! Don't miss if you are in the area.

I ordered a 'chicken' sandwich and coconut cream doughnut and both were absolutely divine. I live on the north shore but I made a special trip to go to Tart because they're fully vegan, and honestly it was worth the trip. The only complaint that I have is that there isn't one on the north shore! The food is incredible and I will definitely be back again.

I stumbled upon this bakery and what a find! It has all the food my dairy-free dreams are made of! A personal favorite is the biscoff croissant, though there are many sweet and savoury treats to enjoy. This is definitely becoming a regular spot for me!

We frequented Tart when we lived in Auckland 4 years ago so it was a real treat going back to see how they have expanded! Still absolutely delicious bakery staples vegan-ised. Well done Phillipa and team!

Omg the vegan food here is out of this world!! I tried the spinach and cheese pie. YUM! and the caramel donut in particular is insane! Sausage roll was okay. Love this place sooo much!

This place is amazing. As a non- vegetarian/vegan I thought I would struggle to find something I fancied. Tart Bakery greatly exceeded my expectations. Such an amazing selection of pastries, pies, and deliciousness. I even enjoyed the oat milk coffee.

YUMYUMYUMYUMYUM!!!!!! Delicious hand pie, frankfurter and caramelized onion roll, lemon “chicken” sandwich, and the cherries on top were the fabulous apple and caramel donuts (that were fluffy, yeasty and not too sweet). What a treat!!! 10/10. Will be back again ❤️

I live just down the road and never thought I’ll find this hidden tasty full of deliciousness near my door step. I’m lactose intolerance and I used enjoy all the pastries and then stopped because of bloating. But now I can eat as much as I can from Tart and guess what they let me have a free one to taste. Love you all. Definitely be back on regular basis

It took us 12 min to drive to Grey Lynn to finally visit this vegan cafe called Tart Bakery. I had to go try their food ! Can't say that it was a disappointment, so please know i am not making a complaint - i'll lead to my point & suggestion at the end. The vegan pies & pizza were awesome! It was just a downer to discover that staff wouldn't give out any plates or cutleries or cups for you to dine in at. It's all just paper plates, paper bag, and paper cup. I have my own coffee mug and travel cutleries in the car, but I had to grab a dog with a thick blanket, + a camera bag. I didn't have the chance to go get the mug when ordering the drink at the counter. I expected to be given a porcelain mug when I was going to eat in. It felt quite informal. it was actually quite cold & windy that day. But with a dog, we needed to sit outside. Having only paper containers while sitting outside didn't make the experience better despite the healthy good food. I understand that it will eliminate the need to wash any dishes. So now that I know, I just make sure to take my own plates and mugs with me next time to the counter :) I recommend the pie & the pizza. They were so yummy - the pizza I brought home to put in the oven, because i was given it cold by the staff. It was amazing after going through the oven! The almond croissant etc I bought just to try were way to sweet. If you like extremely sweet things, they're yummy. I feel the sugar level need to be turned down by 70%.

Really love the vegan food I have tried from here! Fav things so far have been two flavoured danish, the peanut butter choc slice and one of the sandwiches (lemon chiken on right?) A bit pricey but understandable since they are Vegan options. I’m sure I will return :) thanks!

Been a customer since I moved to Auckland two years ago, standard of service had dropped last year and I hadn’t been for a while because of this, went today and was pleased that the service is greatly improved. Great range of delicious vegan food.

Definitely one of the best vegan bakeries I've discovered in Auckland. Everything is fresh and full of taste sooo delicious, they will definitely see me there more often. ❤😃

{Commercial Bay location} Simply excellent! I was visiting Auckland and was thrilled to discover Tart. The outlet might be kiosk/small in size but is bursting with Vegan goodies. The vegan croissants, fruit danish, pizza slices and sandwiches were superb. The young lady managing the eatery was delightful and had a lovely peaceful aura. Go early as they sell out fast.

Really love this place, have been here and the commercial bay store multiple times and ordered off uber eats a bunch of times too and everything I try from here is delicious. My favourite is their carrot cake, so tasty!

The girls working behind the counter are so nice! And the M/C pie was amazing and also the lemon chicken roll and the new pizza bread. Highly recommend

We Love Tart Bakery! Used to be a regular visitor when we lived in Auckland. Been 18 months since our last visit here and we have been excited ever since about getting our hands on the delicious range of vegan baked goods, since Queenstown has a very limited vegan range of food. We was not disappointed and only wished we could of eaten more!

  • 5/5 Sapphire M. 1 year ago on Google
The food is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I had accepted that being on a vegan diet meant no more bakery treats, but Tart Bakery have given joy to my lactose intolerant heart! The owner, Phillipa, is also an incredible and upstanding woman!

found multiple hairs in the donut, plus another hair in the steak and pepper pie. unfortunate because the food was nice, until we found the hairs and were put off eating the rest

Love their chicken sandwich (vegan). Taste and texture is legit chicken-ey. Fresh salad and sauce/aioli 👍🏼. A slightly bigger patty would make it even more awesome. Worth a try if you like imitation meat.

Wow, what a way to start the day. We tried their mushroom pie and fruit danish and they were both delicious. The pastry was next level and there was so much fruit in that danish. Can’t wait to head back to Tart Bakery and try more

I’m not vegan but I stumbled here unintentionally and thought the food displayed looked delicious. Wish I’d found you sooner because the food is so good I ended up buying more than I planned to and everything was a chefs kiss! The baker Philipa (sorry if misspelt) was so lovely and passionate it made the experience wonderful. I’ll be back for more! ^_^
