This market used to be a really fun place. There were many venders and lots of interesting things to buy and look at. There used to be food venders that had some pretty great stuff. It was a bustling exciting place that attracted locals and tourists alike. Somewhere along the line some developer decided to make this an "upscale" boutique like market. The day we were there most recently, we were probably the only two customers in the entire market! I spoke at length to a woman who had a store there and she confirmed that the place is dead. The owners have spent a great deal of money to try and make the place "higher class", only to have it backfire spectacularly! There's an old saying, "if it's not broke, don't fix it'. This really holds true for Victoria Park Market. What was once a busy thriving place is now a ghost town...

Very eclectic market village. Used to be very busy and bustling; unfortunately, after the modernisation project the place just dead, not many people around - not even on weekends. The shops are just look so sad; a few shops open with just 1 or 2 people walk around, sight seeing. At least they still maintain the facade and the chimney - to connect the modernised building with its history.

Very sad, i have lived overseas and had not been to these markets in 15 or 20 years. It is not a tourist attraction or place to shop, it is an old building fitted with modern office spaces inside that are mostly vacant. There are horrible concrete box offices built within the old structure that completely ruin the old look, no shops, and a handful of food places that cater for the few offices. If there was a prize for worst development this place would win for sure. It is a real shame, the old building would have suited a small brewery or something and I cant see a market or shops ever returning unless there are free stalls offered for vendors

Looks nice after renovations but it has lost the once vibrant market feel.

Empty. This should be a great location but its not. Once a thriving market, it closed for many years for renovations. Now its open, and has been for some time but no people and empty stores every where. It used to be a destination - maybe the rent it too high. There's a few clothing and accessory stores, a souvenir shop, Nike store and a reasonable Indian restaurant.

Sadly not much shops operating and lots empty space for lease. Even it is near lunch time Saturday, I can see only 1 Cafe opens. Maybe most restaurants open at night? Hopefully there will be improvement on this iconic landmark.

40% shops in the market seem vacant. Some restaurants are there. The building itself is worth visiting. A historical building with an old chimney. The Victoria park is next to it.

I come from the generation when Victoria Park Market was a bustling creative and artistic market. These days it is full of service type businesses and there were hardly any people there. It's not a place I would need to visit unless I want an electric bike.

Very sad and depressing to see what use to be such a fun vibrant place now a total ghost town. Absolutely dead. Sad.

Visited Auckland and the market after many years and was quite disappointed. I went on a Sunday morning expecting a Sunday market kind of vibe but 90% of stores were shut. It used to have a humming market vibe back in the day but now it just seems like an array of corporate and chain shops with no connected marketplace vibe. Get some stalls - craft, food, and other; News stands (anyone else remember reading all the comics as a kid at the magazine shop?), encourage buskers and musicians, maybe a few heritage items or motifs. It used to be a great place to spend a morning but now it feels sterile and dead and probably had better days when it was a rubbish dump. Good microcosmic example of Auckland itself really.

If all of the shops were open at the same time or just open at all, it would be awesome. But.....sadly....it's not as good as it used to be.

Quite difficult to find by Unit address. Not continuous Unit number, mixed by no idea. Map also doesn't help much to find. Toilet locked πŸ”’and inconvenience.

Lacking toilet facilities at a Xmas market is a shocking oversight. Food was nice.

Turnover of shops is very high. Never quite sure if they will be there next time you go.

Mysterious but one of the best sleepy lunch spots in the central city.

Finally has some outdoor seating. Really nice. Please add more bench seats along the shopping areas, and umbrellas in the main area! It’s a beautiful environment just needs spots to perch.

Not much here. Couple of shops and couple of cafes. Sort of disappointing if you recall the market that use to be here.

Unfortunately, Victoria Park market is decaying as the interests of Auckland moved elsewhere. Which is a very sad because it's a excellent heritage location of which New Zealand has fewer and fewer. Fortunately there are still some very good choices for dining here so do make a visit and help us Aucklanders to save it.
