I have came there with my family every Saturday for our grocery shopping since it was our only option as we have came recently to nz and there was a lady her name was Tasneem who always helped us and was very patient with us and my family and would recommend us better products for better prices since we don't know much, so thankful for her.

Good for an inner city supermarket but doesn't have everything you would expect in a standard Countdown. Lack of trolleys or proper checkouts also means it's difficult to do a big shop. It's like the supermarkets haven't quite caught up to the fact that people actually live in the city centre.

As a grocery store, this countdown is fine. Unfortunately this countdown is a target for the homeless, and I feel like 50% of the time I’m shopping there, I see people stealing food and dashing out the door. I watched a disturbed woman pushing people around in the store, myself included, and mumbling and yelling. As she approached check out area, she throws a cup of what looked like a milkshake to the security guy. Instead of the security guy, taking down this woman who had been assaulting customers, he stands there, shocked, while the woman continues to yell at him and opens a coke bottle and start spraying him down with it. I don’t see much usefulness in the security guard at the store since they never seem to catch these people, nor make the other customers shopping experience, safe and comfortable.

Absolutely terrible. I was hassled for money at the entrance and the lady got very angry at me as i walked in, as i was walking out she was pointing to me by a bunch of people and i asked the workers there to help me and they offered to wlak me out but that didn't help as all these homeless people started jumping me and kicking my head in i scream for help but no one was doing anything.

Some of the young men working at this location are very rude and treat costumers as if they are their subordinates. The beggars are always outside hanging around being unpleasant and making people feel as if they have to run the gauntlet to avoid them. I'll avoid the place from now on as it's a very unpleasant experience.

Homeless people hassling customers outside all the time. I know a few people ranging from 18-63 year olds get jumped outside by them too. Security is usually just a small, skinny dude that can’t/won’t do much as well. Foods expensive too compared to other countdowns

One star for it being conveniently located. The day I visited, the store was dirty and disorganized, and many shelves were empty! There were quite a number of panhandlers at the entrance acting unruly and quite aggressive. Check-out line was long but there were sufficient self checkout stations. However, with only one staff there to help guide customers through the self checkout process, it was not enough.

It's fine but the cider selection is minimally bad. I wouldn't go here again unless the one or two bottles they have are your brand. Additionally they ask for a passport for ID. They have a right to do that but they're untrained and don't know the difference between a passport card, ID, a driver's license, or combined passport and driver's license. You're not agents, your staff can't tell these documents apart and don't know if they're local or foreign documents.

I would like to thank the young man that was working at the self checkouts at around 6pm on the 14th. I had recently messed up and pressed no being to 16 for an energy drink. He quickly came over and verified that that was wrong and corrected it. Thank you sir, I hope to see you every time I come to shop here! EDIT: I have just found out his name is Flynn. Good work Flynn!

Every Monday, I like to check what specials are on my countdown app for the whole week. Usually, I try to get discount food on Monday morning. This week, I saw Watties snack meals, usually $5 per box, but this week they were only $2.90 per box, so I got them on Monday, but then I went back again on Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, and the shelves in the freezer were empty for Watties snack meals as the previous day, and it seems the employees didn't top up the stock on the special items.especially when the food products have a big discount. Why's that? It seems like misleading advertising. It's only halfway through the week, but there's nothing on the shelf in the freezer for discounted frozen food, as advertised on the countdown app (price valid till Sunday, August 6, 2023). It's so disappointing 😔☹️😞. What's the point of putting the item on special in the countdown app while there's no stock, even at the beginning of the week? Is it fair for customers who try to cut down on food costs by keeping an eye on app when there's nothing on the shelves? It happened often in the countdown Metro Auckland. Dear manager, please help to solve this matter, so customers will be happy with the promise on countdown app. Thank you, much appreciated.

I went to this store with low expectations. I just wanted to buy some groceries, go to the checkout, and leave. So, I go in and buy eight essential food items for $50, walk to the checkout, and I'm greeted by only self checkouts. I asked the two employees where the actual checkout was, and they told me that there wasn't one - only self checkouts. I go to the self checkout, and I had to call the employee over four times to scan his card because the machine required him to. So I walk out of this store, having spent the most amount of money I ever have for the food times that I bought, was not paid to do an employee's job, and left feeling like I had been robbed. Perhaps this level of service is the reason people are stealing things.

The people that hang outside asking for money have become increasingly irate and aggressive. They grabbed another customer as they were leaving and started cussing at them when they wouldn’t give them a ciggy. Inside, it’s a nice supermarket but not as stocked as a normal Countdown. Plenty of self checkouts. I just never want to go anymore because it doesn’t feel safe outside.

not a very good supermarket for the extreme prices compared to other countdowns, though it is in the city. stock is very limited and 95% of the frozen stock is gone; i’ve gone 4 times this week and there has been no restock of frozen area. very disappointing :(

Worst experience ever.I received 2 x $15 countdown vouchers, but they didn't show on my card. By the time I wanted to pay for my shopping with my vouchers, the 3 customer service ladies told me off. They didn't help at all. Also, I had to call customer care online, and she told me that I had to wait 24 hours for my voucher to appear in my countdown loyalty card. Countdown should train all customer services to be friendly and helpful to all customers.

I had an WORSE shopping experience in this countdown ever!😡 just get back from the shop and one of (tall) security guard was making me feel so uncomfortable! Every time I was in the store I feel like he always watching me! And today was even closer so creepy! He came close to me to see what I am grabbing from the shelf!! for No reason!😡 So the whole store only me looked like a thief? really? How rude! Then I just looked at him back straight away then he finally Walk away!! Next time if this security guard following me around the shop again I won't be nice! So back off!! 😡 Everyone be careful in this countdown! You will be treat like a thief and creppy tall security guard will follow you around in the store!🤮🤮🤮

I give high five to this market. Most of the times I find what I need and get it quickly. I was super pleased with recently bought roasted chicken with new mix of spices. Really well done, very happy with it and great taste, value $14 will buy again no doubt! Keep that receipt please and thank you for perfect roast.

This branch needs to replace all it's wall clocks, and the staff and security need to obtain more accurate time pieces! The other night I get over the intercom, "we close in 5 minutes". Well actually you don't, because my watch and phone CLEARLY said 7:50pm. Also recently, a security guard sternly told me "we close in two minutes", I said "no you don't, you actually close in 5 minutes"! I was out in 3 minutes. So easy, wasn't it?! Also people, you will notice some people make comments about high prices here, that would be correct, because this branch is classed as a Metro Store, Metros are always more expensive because of "the convenience". Also, can you also find staff and security that actually KNOW HOW TO SMILE! And not look at you like you are a piece of garbage?! I've been walking up and down Victoria Street all my life, 57 years, oh how it's changed, no offensive hobos back then!... 😡

Had a Bad experience at customer Service Yesterday. The lady who was at the counter (Anjalee/indian lady) tried to play drama. When i tried to buy prezzy card with countdown gift card she keep saying you cannot buy with grocery gift card. The gift card doesn’t says only grocery . She did it to one of my friends as well. Finally i got the prezzy card but not happy with her service.

They need to update their hours. Google showing as xmas and boxing day - 8pm closing, but the regular hours are still showing till 10pm. Need to fix this asap. A sign near the escalator is not at all acceptable. Staff rude and unprofessional. Just pointing to the sign that cant be seen from street view. I for one, would like to know when they open and close. Some of us finish work at 8pm. Ridiculous.

They are consistently out of Woolworths brand 2L Lite milk, and there is roadworks going outside making this shop difficult to access. Homeless people leave their litter near the entrance. Security cannot drive the beggars out.

Always a busier store then I like so I prefer Quay, however these workers deserve massive props because they have a really intense and difficult scene to manage just outside the countdown as well as a really busy shop to run

Countdown should not force consumers to get trained as till operators, people want to enjoy the shopping. But corporates are taking that away from people. By putting self check out only option to go to countdown, they made it clear that they dont care about customer services at all, old people etc . Me personally dont want to put that useless data in my brain on the name of being smart shopper, I dont give away my freedom to corporates for the sake of them saving money and decreasing jobs. Wake up people

Great store for grocery and daily needs. Great produce, great quality. There are good discounts on items. Usually staff is nice and helpful. Unfortunately today we met a female staff who was very rude and in no mood to listen.

This place has the most complete and plentiful, freshest and cheapest merchandise in CITY! The customers are very plentiful! The self-checkout is quite large and the clerks are very friendly. I've been here four times in the six days I've lived in CITY and it's awesome!

Security guard ripped my bag out of my hands waiting to get a basket. I don't know if she thought I was stealing or what but this is the 2nd time I've come into this countdown and been targeted about me stealing when I haven't. Idiots. Hire better guards.

Handy location for guests at the nearby hotels. Good range of wine and decent selection of beer. Shelves generally well stocked enabling you to grab items to cook in your unit if you can't be bothered heading out to eat. Prices reasonable, so all in all, a good experience.

Auckland City Countdown was a pleasant experience with less covid restrictions which was refreshing. Staff are pleasant enough, they help when necessary and do it with a smile.. Checkout is fast and efficient which made for a good shopping experience. All and all😁👍

Very small, always too many people. Because it's small they don't have as much variety in products as other countdowns. But location is convenient: right in the middle of the cbd.

Busy store, annoying construction outside and sometimes beggars demanding money at the entrance. The store is adequately stocked. Gobsmacked by the amount of shoplifters who just walk out past staff and security with unpaid for products. Despicable people too. Saddened for staff who just let them walk straight past.

High crime and disorderly area store, everytime I come here drunks, addicts, ferals , emergency housing, homeless walk in steal a trolly load of goods in plain sight and just walk out without a care in the world. I feel sorry for the staff who provide and excellent service despite the dangerous conditions and unfettered crime around them. Countdown management need to provide better security measures for staff in my opinion

Good supermarket to go to out of convenience when you're in the city as there is not as much selection, but has the essentials. Seems to always be busy, and is currently difficult to get to due to the roadworks outside.

It's not a bad store in the heart of Auckland, They wouldn't accept my international driving licence as ID for alcohol which is fair enough for company policy but found it a bit odd as who carries their passport on with them? I felt the staff member who asked for my ID initially had something against us as she was quite rude to us and didn't seem to know anything about international ID as she asked me where is my D.O.B? What's even more strange is, I was in the day before and had purchased alcohol and no issues in doing so. Oh and if you're buying chocolate, check the sell by dates, most are out of date.

This Countdown is in a convenient location (just off queen street) but with that means it is quite small so doesn't have the full range of products at a regular countdown, but it's still a decent range. All checkouts are self checkouts with a few staff to help who most of which are pretty helpful.

Basic Countdown store in the heart of CBD near Sky Tower. Has everything you need but is a bit cramped up and not a large stock given the space constraint. Have often found empty shelves on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Its a good shopping mall , good variety of grocery items but limited to food items only like fruits , vegetables, meat , canned foods etc. Fresh fish and fresh chicken is not available everything is packed foods. They have a beautiful bakery inside we can get different sandwiches, Currys etc. Prices are somewhat affordable but sometimes they have good offers as well. I prefer to choose countdown labeled products those are cheaper in price but good quality.

Nice countdown that's clean and well stocked, only self serve systems and plenty of them, this is my closest countdown so I visit regularly, birds fly in almost all the time and there is often a group of homeless waiting outside but they don't bother anyone.

I recently had a positive shopping experience at Countdown, and while I don't know her name, I noticed Tasneem's nameplate. She stood out with her exceptional customer service. She is consistently helpful and goes the extra mile to assist customers. Her dedication enhances the overall shopping experience and reflects well on Countdown's commitment to excellent service.
