I am a loyal customer of Shelf Cafe and have always enjoyed my dining experiences there, but unfortunately, my recent visit left a sour taste in my mouth. The Oreo cheesecake that my party and I were served was incredibly dry and tasted stale. Upon further inspection, it was clear that the cheesecake was a leftover from the kitchen, as there was a fresh one on display that we were not offered. To make matters worse, the staff did not apologize for serving us an unsatisfactory dessert. It was only after I made a strong complaint that they begrudgingly replaced the cheesecake with a fresh one, but still without any apology. As a loyal customer, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and customer service. While the fresh cheesecake was much appreciated, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope that the staff at Shelf Cafe can take this feedback constructively and improve their service in the future.

Really nice place for teas, coffees and sweet treats. They also offer more substantial items and a full menu but I haven't tried it. Nice teas, coffees and cakes and they have made a lot of effort with the decor to make what might have been quite a dark dive into a very pleasant place to sit and pass the time.

Knew this place like years, heard so much about it, it doesn’t mean that gonna raise my expectation or anything. Typical cafe service, walked in and got told to grab a menu and could sit anywhere we like. Not friendly nor rude manner, just not much intersections. Placed orders at the counter, had a quick browse over the cabinet food, good options. Food and drinks didn’t take too long to arrive but a bit slower than expected cause there weren’t much people. Reasonable presentation but the taste of food was really average. The waffle was way too hard and dry. Nice environment and cozy. Might need more attention to tidy up and make the place glowing again. Not a bad first impression but definitely not good either. Maybe should return to try one more time. :)

Came in with some hungry lads and was greeted with good service! Good choices in the menu and even better with the food! Some of the best brunch i’ve had in a long time. Would recommend!

The staff were very kind and service was fast, but the actual food left something to be desired for me. I'm probably not the target audience for this kind of place, with the advanced "deconstructed" drinks and the like. I tried the french toast and it was shockingly sweet. It came with a berry sauce, cooked (candied?) banana, was dusted with powdered sugar, and then topped with a big glob of cotton candy. Unfortunately, due to the sugar overload, any other flavours were sort of drowned out. The french toast itself was excellent, with a crispy exterior and soft fluffy interior, and it was nicely thick-cut as well. It's a shame that all you could taste was sugar. The drink was similarly unusual. I paid a premium ($8, which might be closer to $6 at other establishments) for the privilege of having to make the iced latte myself. Again, I think another person might enjoy this sort of thing a lot more, but it just rubs me the wrong way. To be fair, it's not like it was a surprise (the drink was a "deconstructed iced latte") but at the same time there was no option to have a... constructed latte. Overall, if the atmosphere and style seem appealing to you, then I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. Perhaps avoid the french toast if you aren't looking for a sugar high at 9am.

Phenomenal food and quick service with no wait on a Monday morning. Will definitely be going back - the waffle was punishingly good though I sampled my brothers egg Benedict and that was even better. Update: had to go back and tried the salmon bagel. It just knocked it out of the park

Wide range of drinks and food, plenty of desserts but best of all, the music keeps the mood relaxed and fun. See photo for the Oreo Monster Freak Shake, which is a pretty neat, sweet summer beverage.

Dropped in randomly looking for an afternoon snack. Good iced latte and a generous sausage roll. Would recommend.

Came here with a friend - love the vibe. Mixing the chocolate shot and the chocolate stick into my mocha was a lot of fun. Food was beautiful. Just wish there were more fruit topping for the waffles, it was a bit sweet They have a good setup of 2-seater booths for those who want to work/ study

Use to come to the shelf a lot. But the quality of the food seems to have decreased a fair bit. Food: I’ve ordered the same bagel in the cafe before and it’s a huge difference when you’re taking it away. There were only salmon on one of the bagels 😂. Definitely not worth $21+. Drinks: The matcha latte is only good when the male staff(owner?) makes it and the ice mocha is really diluted at times. The food just seems to be quite inconsistent. Edit: Owner has given me a replacement after hearing my complaint. This time it was much more similar to the portion size when dining in. However, it’s still a lazy version of what’s served in store. Definitely missing some sauces which was included when you dine in-store

Tried chicken sandwiches and hot white chocolate. Food was good. But hot chocolate was not hot enough. The ambiance is good. Caramel bite was too hard.

Super cozy space on the inside, just a little hidden away in High St. We had the French toast and the waffles - both were absolutely delicious, good portion, fresh cooked, nice and crispy with candy floss on top. The only criticism I have would be to add a bit more maple syrup, but honestly it was totally perfect otherwise. They also had a lot of cabinet food and drink options that looked amazing. The service was quick and helpful, and they also had free WiFi that was quite fast. Already planning on going back sometime soon :)

I swung by The Shelf on Sunday around 2pm to grab a quick bite with my brother. Let me tell you, the place was hopping! Luckily, we managed to snag a table towards the back. The staff wasted no time in taking care of us and getting our order. Now, let's talk about the menu. It's seriously got something for everyone. We ended up going for the Chicken Fettuccine and the Kimchi BBQ Pork Belly with Scrambled Eggs. And, we couldn't resist trying the Orange and Passion Fruit Ade and the Tim Tam Freak Shake. Both the food and drink was out of this world! Both dishes were bursting with flavor, and the portion sizes were just right. That Pork Belly? Oh my, it was heavenly! And the Ade? So refreshing! But let me tell you, the Tim Tam Freak Shake was a showstopper. Talk about creativity in a glass! As for the vibe, it was totally chill and inviting. If you're looking for a great spot to grab a snack or quick lunch, I can't recommend The Shelf enough. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

A nice quiet atmosphere. The shelf is a nice place to study or catch up with a friends. It’s convenient that they open early as I need to be in the city even earlier to attend my 8ams 😊. Just a tad pricey though but definitely worth, whether it’s for a quick coffee or a hearty brunch, I would definitely recommend going to The Shelf 👍

It’s all good. Atmosphere, the drinks and food. Needs repeated visits. Helmed by a Korean couple with efficient service. Get yourself a table, order & pay at the order and your selections will be sent to your table promptly. I had fun with my hot chocolate which is hot milk in a cup that has chocolate at bottom, a stick of Whittaker’s chocolate and served with a small cup of yummilicious chocolate syrup.

Chanced upon this cafe in High street on a Sunday morning quest for brunch with friends. Loved the cafe ambience. It was clean and cozy offering seating in a variety of configuration ranging from high tables to single booths. Service was quick and food incredible. The place allows its customers the opportunity to mix their drink to suit an individual’s taste. For instance - the quantity of vanilla shot in my flat white, milk in my ice coffee etc. Loved this concept. The French toast was outstanding. Highly recommend this place.

Very cute cafe, coffee was good, tiramisu was quite bitter and I think they put too much bailey or sth. Loved the idea of deconstructed hot choc but it didnt dissolve quite well. Will be back to try their food!

Great atmosphere, ordered a benedict with no bacon so just spinach. Really good other than the fact that the spinach wasn’t cooked at all or even seem washed. Felt like they pulled it right out of the pack and chucked it straight onto my muffins. Would be great if spinach was cooked.

A nice breakfast meal range including the drinks. The 'mash mash' meal was very delicious, the corn beef was very flavourful and every bite was delicious because of it. The egg, potatoes, spinach, tomato and feta was a very nice combination. The Peach iced tea was also on point which I'm really happy about. The service and atmosphere is nice also. Highly recommended place for your breakfast needs!

Good place for breakfast. The big breakfast was quite filling and delicious. The lighting is really dim (not sure if that is part of the aesthetic) but otherwise a really good experience. Would recommend!

Coffee was very good, food is very average, maybe even a little below (especially for the price). Was also a 45 minute wait for food, and they didn’t clear our cups or plates. All three of us felt a little sick after our fettuccine

The presentation is everything here. Coffee is good, food… Nicely presented. Probably not fair to review the food given I had some granola… Service is non existent, not very welcoming. But they looked short staffed, I mean it was Sunday morning. Will definitely have to come back and try something different as the granola wasn’t very filling. Eye catching but nothing special. It’s a greasy spoon cafe without the grease. The guy made a nice oat flat white though.

What an amazing place for breakfast! Not only the flat white was great, but the shelf’s breakfast blow my mind. Don’t hesitate and go to this place. You won’t regret it.

What we ordered: - Belgian Waffle -Watermelon milkshake - Mango Smoothie The price is a bit on the steep side but the watermelon milkshake is amazing! I didn't really love the waffle, I just found it a bit too sweet, but the watermelon milkshake was such a unique and delicious drink!
