Went there for the dinner today and the experience we had totally deserves a review. Why am I saying that?? Well, to begin we ordered poori, idly, chilli paneer accompanied with some refreshing rose milk(my favourite!!) ah almost forgot to mention about this new QR code ordering method is so easy and convenient. I don’t think that I have to brag how good the food is bc’ its that good you don’t even need explanations about it. Finally, the staff one of the best customer services I have had especially, in a time like this it’s fascinating to see such a hospitable service. Restaurant was quite packed when we went there even though it’s overwhelming they were talent enough to handle it. I don’t think that this review will do justice to their effort but needless to say that is one reason I LOVE THIS PLACE. At last when we went to pay the bill the lady manager (Uma) was kind enough to ask about our experience which I believe an extreme action of professionalism. Overall, I highly recommend this place trust me you’re going to explore a whole new dimension of vegetarian food :))

The overall experience was good. Staff is polite and helpful. Food is tasty, mild spicy food was served for my 4 yrs kid, he was very happy 😊 We ordered dosa, idali sambhar, and kids platter in lunch. We liked the food so we went again and had our dinner as well and ordered veg thali and chapatis. Chapatis were really awesome as we eat at home 😋

Recently, my husband and I spent 4 weeks in Auckland and surrounding areas. Food has been a disappointment for the most part. Thankfully, Saravanaa Bhavan truly saved us from the misery of Auckland’s overcooked meat and seafood. Their dishes are always consistent in taste and quality. The second we came across it, we knew we would get some good, authentic South Indian food and that we got what we expected! South Indian Filter Coffee! Need I say more? I couldn’t stop at one. Had to have two at the least. Rasam, Idly, Vada, Sambar, Rava Dosa, Utthappum and Pongal were all good. Surprisingly, their North Indian dishes were not too bad. We ordered Aloo Gobi and Dahl Makhani and both were decent.

My husband and I walked past this restaurant and thought why not have early dinner there. It's the best decision we made during our 2-night stay in Auckland about a month ago! As we entered, we felt transported to India as the aroma of South Indian food filled the air. We simply enjoyed every bite of our meal. The service was good too. The next morning before leaving Auckland, we had no other restaurant in mind but this, and we had their breakfast buffet. Again, the food didn't disappoint us! Simply authentic South Indian food, and very friendly and helpful staff. We kept talking about the restaurant to friends when we got back to Wellington. We're not sure when our next trip to Auckland is but we're already looking forward to having another meal there! Keep it up, guys!

Staff were great, patient and handled the customers with a great sense of professionalism! This is worth mentioning as they were just swamped with their workload when I was around. The quality of the food was great as usual! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Special mention about Hussain! He manoeuvred the extremely busy space with grace! I recommend this place and will be back for sure! 👍👍👍

Food Quality The food quality has been fallen considerably. Cleanliness is an issue. Torn seats all around. Carpet is dirty with tissues lying all around. Ambience is average. One star is only for the staff as they are friendly and helpful. Otherwise this place deserves 0 stars.

My soul just satisfied with this authentic south Indian breakfast buffet. I loved everything they served and good service as well. Try to skip the very corner table at the restaurant, they usually cant see you over there and it would hard to get the live dishes like puri and dosa.

Food was amazing as always. Costumer service was the best as well. Trying their best to bring authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine (South Indian Cuisine) to New Zealand. Filter coffee really took me back home :)

I highly recommend trying this restaurant for an authentic South Indian culinary experience. During my visit, I had the pleasure of ordering the mushroom kathi roll, which proved to be a delightful and flavorful dish. The combination of spices used in the preparation provided a satisfying level of spiciness, while showcasing the rich and diverse flavors of South Indian cuisine. Although the dish had a slightly oily texture, it is worth noting that a judicious amount of oil can enhance the overall taste by complementing the spices. The chef's dedication to their craft, coupled with their evident passion, is truly commendable. I encourage everyone to visit this establishment and indulge in the delicious and remarkable offerings it has to offer. The staff at the restaurant were exceptionally pleasant and amiable. Their warm and friendly demeanor added to the overall positive dining experience.!!😋

South Indian flavours in Auckland! Quality has improved with food since my last visit which was 2 years ago. Madras Filter Coffee is good but there is room for improvement.

Pathetic, literally disgusting and test less food. I have been to atleast 5 different Sarvana Bhavans in different cities (Sydney and Melbourne) and I was overwhelmed with the quality of food. So I was expecting somewhat same quality but here OMG waste of money and waste of travelling from airport to CBD. In the pics you can see the Manchurian literally without any sauce (basically it was fried ball of veggies) and disgusting Pav-bhaji (I am not a good cook but i can 101% make better pav-bhaji than this). And big NO to Rava-kesari pleaseee. Please chooose your restaurant wisely. Not issues with any staff, they were slow but good as it was busy time.

Food was good this time but service wasnt. 3 people on the same table ordered food at the same time but one didn't receive food until after other two finished eating. people who came in and ordered after us and orders the same thing as us got their food faster. I think mistake was made in kitchen and when we asked the waitress and chef plating kept getting made at her for something and she wouldn't even come back to tell us what was happing. Communication issue with the Chef, seems like he want happy with staff but instead of hurrying the meal he double down and made us wait more. after 25min then a simple Malasa Dosa was given to us. Normally we are very happy with the food but service let us down this time. (the young Kiwi Indian girl was good and communicated to us)

We were passing through this restaurant and suddenly it started raining. We were hungry and we thought to give it a try to restaurant while it was raining. Ambience of restaurant is good. We had ghee onion rava masala dosa & paper masala dosa. Both dosas were delicious. This was the one of the best South Indian food I’ve tested in Auckland.

As always love their Thali meal and still keeping the quality good.Although the price has gone bit up recently. Updated-02/11/22, was again today for lunch to try their South Indian thali ($21.90) and its just wonderful. Thanked the duty manager when returning and said will update this post with the photo and she didn't have a clue about the google review and what im talking about, May be a busy day.

Went to explore this place after many recommendations from friends and colleagues. Loved the ambience, food, and the staff, especially Uma, the manager. She definitely goes out of her way to give the best service to customers. Food was served hot and delicious. Loved every bit of the time we spent there, and the restaurant has most definitely earned a regular customer. Will also be recommending to other acquaintances for sure. Kudos to the entire team! 👏

We come to Saravana Bhavan for the awesome chef's special ghee roast with sambar and different chutneys. Tina's customer service was very good. The new system where we can scan and order from the table directly instead of waiting for someone to take orders has reduced the waiting time. Love their falooda very much.

I have lived in different cities, New Plymouth, Wellington, Taupo and Auckland. This is the best South Indian food I have eaten in New Zealand. The food took me back to Bangalore's government canteen, enough said 😂.

The food was too good and tasty. The staff service was also nice. However, I was disappointed to see the condition of the toilets/ restroom (see photograph). Perhaps the management/ leadership may want to be more sensitive about hygiene and cleanliness.

We had a nice lunch here. The service was a little bit slow but delicious food. You have to wait to be seated and then there’s a QR code at the table to scan, order and pay for your food.

Amazing food. Always good service. Quick delivery. We love coming here for a filling and tasty lunch! All great except the toilet facilities. Please please please pay more attention and spend some money on housekeeping - it’s embarrassing for a global chain.

The best south indian restaurant of all time. The taste just feels home. Ordering at once saves you time. The order takes little longer time to server in busy time. Overall wonderful place to taste the southern Indian dishes. Just feels like home style.👍

way too sweet (rose milk, falooda) or way too salty (curries). the whole group agreed. some of it was inedible. 1/2 of the $250 takeout for our group is going into the trash all 5 curries tasted identical, and had the same extreme saltiness & base sauce instead of having 100 items on your menu. How about having 15-20 items and doing each one well? dosa & lassi were good

I was really happy with the food and thankful for the staff for taking on board my preferences of the palak curry to be vegan and mild. Really appreciated how we could place an online order but specify we want to dine-in so that the food was ready when we arrived. It’s really helpful to save us ordering time! The staff who served us were really polite and friendly too, I note their nicknames being the moon and the star. Aiming to come back regularly!
