Overall
L'aubergine
offers
good
value
for
money
in
a
very
beautiful
setting.
The
positives:
we
had
25
adults
and
kids
in
our
group
for
a
family
reunion/vacation
and
there
was
plenty
of
room
for
everyone.
The
beds
were
comfortable,
lots
of
bathrooms,
the
kitchen
is
very
large
and
well
equipped
(lots
of
pots
and
pans,
tea
towels,
coffee
maker,
etc)
and
we
had
no
trouble
preparing
big
meals
especially
with
two
ovens,
two
fridges,
freezers,
and
the
commercial
dishwasher
that
completes
a
load
in
just
minutes.
The
dining
room
is
very
large
and
we
had
no
problem
seating
everyone
together
for
meals
and
this
provided
our
evening
hang-out
space.
The
setting
is
very
quiet
and
the
kids
enjoyed
the
short
walk
down
to
the
dock
to
jump
in
the
water
most
days.
It's
a
short
drive
to
the
nearest
shop
and
about
20
minutes
to
Magog
where
there
are
several
large
grocery
stores,
lots
of
restaurants,
and
a
lovely
beach.
Day
trips
include
Montreal
(about
1.5
hour
drive)
and
Quebec
City
(just
under
3
hours)
and
as
well
a
short
drive
across
the
border
to
Vermont.
There
are
several
activities
in
the
local
area,
such
as
Sea-Dooing
in
Magog,
go-karting
Orford,
ropes
course/zip
lining
at
Haut
Bois
Normand,
and
of
course
Abbaye
De
St-Benoit-Du-Lac.
The
negatives:
like
many
other
reviewers
we
were
instantly
put
off
by
the
numerous
warning
signs
all
over
the
place.
There
is
a
sign
to
remind
you
of
the
hefty
fine
for
not
placing
the
folding
chairs
back
in
the
storage
room
upon
departure,
for
example.
There
were
signs
on
the
emergency
lanterns,
stereo,
various
walls
and
doors,
the
living
room.
What
would
normally
be
a
welcome/visitors
book
left
on
the
kitchen
butcher
block
was
actually
an
inventory
list
and
a
copy
of
the
contract,
reminding
us
of
all
the
ways
we
could
earn
a
fine
or
not
receive
our
damage
deposit
back.
I
understand
the
owner's
reasoning
however
as
mentioned
by
others
it
does
not
make
a
welcoming
first
impression.
A
proper
welcome
book
would
be
appreciated,
with
information
about
the
local
area.
The
house
was
not
particularly
clean
when
we
arrived
and
the
plates,
cutlery
etc
had
to
be
rewashed.
The
beds
had
bedspreads
on
them
so
appeared
to
be
made
up
when
we
arrived,
which
we
would
have
expected,
however
it
wasn't
until
later
in
the
evening
we
discovered
the
sheets
were
actually
not
on
the
beds.
Perhaps
the
owner's
would
consider
providing
one
toilet
roll
per
bathroom
and
making
up
the
beds
for
their
guests
Anyone
arriving
late
and
tired
after
a
long
journey
would
be
disappointed
to
find
no
loo
roll
and
unmade
beds!
(And
yes
we
were
aware
that
toilet
paper
was
not
provided,
however
most
self-catering
rentals
do
leave
something
for
the
first
night).
