Our
first
visit
to
Vince
Young
Steakhouse
was
in
celebration
of
Valentine’s
Day
2022.
Arrived
on
time,
immediately
seated.
Fred,
our
server,
did
a
great
job,
attentive
but
unobtrusive.
Thanks
Fred!
The
meal
had
both
hits
and
misses.
As
other
reviewers
have
noted,
the
bone
marrow
appetizer
was
too
salty.
Edible,
especially
with
the
toasted
bread,
but
disappointing…
a
miss.
The
wedge
salad
was
outstanding.
Nice
balance
of
top
quality
ingredients,
served
very
chilled…
a
hit!
We
shared
the
Tomahawk
Ribeye,
more
than
enough
for
two.
The
temperature
of
the
steak
was
very
inconsistent.
Ordered
medium
rare,
and
the
steak
ranged
from
medium
in
places
to
bloody
purple
in
others.
We
agree
with
other
reviewers
who
have
noted
the
VYS
kitchen
doesn’t
handle
large
cuts
of
meat
well.
Given
the
cost,
the
ribeye
should
have
been
next
to
perfect…
a
miss.
We
shared
sides
of
sautéed
mushrooms
and
the
“loaded”
mashed potatoes.
Both
were delicious,
expertly
prepared,
good
presentation,
the
leftovers
were
good
the
next
day
too…
a
hit.
The
wine
list
was
well
thought
through,
a
nice
offering
of
old
world
and
new
world
selections.
Wines
were
reasonably
priced,
from
the
$40s
to
the
$300s,
a
few
$400s,
and
even
a
few
$1000+
options.
We
shared
the
Rock
Pile
Zinfandel,
very
good
at
a
reasonable
price…
a
hit.
For
dessert,
the
crème
brûlée
sounded
good,
but
was
disappointing,
the
consistency
of
pudding
rather
than
custard,
not
much
flavor…
a
miss.
VYS
gets
high
marks
for
ambience,
very
inviting,
warm
and
comfortable.
A
more
casual
feel
than
some
of
the
other
downtown
ATX
high-end
steakhouses,
and
that’s
a
compliment,
not
a
complaint…
a
hit.
All
told,
the
place
was
great,
the
service
excellent,
but
the
meal
was
just
OK.
While
the
ambiance
was
wonderful,
the
meal
was
not
up
to
par
with
what
one
would
expect
in
a
high-end,
expensive
downtown
ATX
steakhouse.
