My girlfriend and I spent 4 days in Austin during the 4th of July weekend, and had dinner at a nice restaurant in the downtown area each night we were there. Our last night we decided on The Capital Grille. In an effort to keep this review short and sweet, I will put the bottom line upfront: This restaurant was the highlight of our trip. The location was extremely convenient; we literally walked from our downtown hotel. The atmosphere was smooth, and pleasant. The bar made some killer drinks. The food was spectacular in taste and sight. The price was very fair. Last but not least, our waiter Robert Burton had such an amazing personality. We had an enjoyable conversation about college football, art, and adventure. He was delightful and very professional. We absolutely had to get a picture with him before we left. We will be back next summer and we will be sure to make a reservation on a night he is working so we can catch up. If you are looking for a perfect evening, this is the place to go. 5/5 stars...Boom.

Just had the most delicious Thanksgiving dinner!!! Our server Isaiah Taylor was the best! He made our cross country holiday stop feel like a “home away from home” experience!

We have had Capital Grille a few times in the past year. We decided we wanted to try this place when we had the urge to feel *upscale and fancy*. We made reservations which wasn't too far in advance. To be honest, I'm not much of a steak person. I never understood what the big hype was and (please forgive me) only really wanted steak for A1 sauce. This restaurant has forever changed me. The steak was remarkable! That one steak changed my mind about steak forever. Granted, I'm no steak connoisseur so take my word with a grain of salt. But, I still talk about it months later. Their sides are also pretty spectacular. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese and brussel sprouts. And their desserts are pretty good, too. The service was excellent. I requested a low-key birthday dessert for my husband that was really special and sweet. All of the waiters and hosts were friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. The food and service was perfect and we definitely will be going here more in the future.

From the Valet to the Hostess to the Waitstaff, truly excellent service. Came out wit the Hub for Valentine's Day dinner. Ordered the lobster & crab cake, lobster bisque (request / not on menu), bone-in kona crusted aged NY strip, sliced filet mignon w/ cipollini onions - for sides: lobster mac & cheese, Sam's mashed potatoes & soy glazed Brussel sprouts ALL DELICIOUS and FLAVORED JUST RIGHT .. finished off wit the creamy fluff dreamy coconut pie .. Stop on in / share platters but certainly do give this place a try ..

It was a great birthday dinner! The drink I had was so delicious, I told them it was my birthday when I called to see if they had an available table in 30 min and they sprinkled birthday glitter on the table! I loved it! Plus they took a photo, printed it and framed it. I wasn't feeling 💯 but the sides were fantastic, highly recommend their brussel sprouts, potatoes, lobster Mac, and we got half portions and it was a lot for the both of us. Sides are for the table so keep that in mind... We definitely had left overs. Steaks were perfectly cooked and the mushrooms on mine were delicious. Service was lovely. Will go back.

Cannot stress enough how wonderful of a time we had. We were celebrating an anniversary and it was our first time here. Our server, Audrey, went above and beyond for our special occasion and I am so grateful. As someone who works in service, I take customer service very seriously and LOVE when I can finally go somewhere and be taken care of. Audrey even took a sweet photo of us and put it in an envelope. Such a small gesture and surprise that went far. Food was great, we really enjoyed the cheesecake. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner here! These were some of the best steaks I've ever had! Our server Matthew was very polite and on top of everything. We never felt rushed, and each course came out right on time. The put a little confetti on the table before we arrived, cute little touch for someone's special day. First they bring a bread basket with 4 different types of bread, then we ordered the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella and French onion soup. Both were amazing! Followed by a chefs special bone-on filet, I had it prepared with wild mushrooms and pearl onions, and it came sliced. My guy had the 22 Oz bone-in ribeye. Both were so juicy and flavorful! We got Brussels sprouts and au gratin potatoes for the table. My guy didn't care for the potatoes, but I loved them. Then they brought me out a complimentary birthday desert with a small cheesecake and flourless chocolate espresso cake (chocolate cake was my personal fave), with fresh berries. We also ordered coconut cream pie, it had a great flavor, but my guy said he would have preferred a bit more coconut pie, and a little less cream. I also got the black tie margarita. I don't usually drink ritas on the rocks, I prefer frozen, but I would def have this one again. It was so smooth and perfectly balanced. I loved it. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We will def be back!

I dont mind paying extra for a good meal and the Capital Grille doesnt disappoint. I was greeted upon entry and my table was setup outside. Water was brought right away and I was told my server would be out soon and she was. As i waited for my guest, the server came out multiple times and checked on me. When my guest arrived, we ordered salads, filet mignon, and bone in NY strip. It was excellent, the timing that the food arrived and the service! The salad leaves were fresh looking and tasting along with the tomatoes. After we finished our salads, steaks were brought out. My filet was charred excellently and it was flavorful and tender. The other bone-in strip was cooked great too. We ordered our steaks to be cooked medium and they were. For sides we ordered fries and mashed potatoes which were also favorful no salt or pepper required. My server heard me say I wanted cake then we were given a complimentary dessert (without having to request it). On our reservation we wrote we were celebrating promotion. Also, the complomentary dessert was in addition to the cheesecake. If I had the time and finances, I would eat there one a week. They have excellent service and food.

Beautiful location both outside and inside. The service was great, our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The steak was cooked to perfection, from the outside and temperature wise. The mashed potatoes were rich and not too buttery. Oysters were also tasty as well.

Not worth the money. My table tried a wide variety of dishes (2 starters, 5 entrees, and 3 desserts), and nothing blew me away. In fact, many of the dishes were pretty bland. For how much we spent, I expected to have - at minimum - an above average meal. I was disappointed when this was not the case. The only menu items I truly enjoyed were the lobster mac & cheese and the coconut cream pie. On the plus side, the servers were all very attentive and nice. It’s clear this restaurant caters to older men based on the clientele, hunting decor, and obscenely large portraits of old men. Nothing wrong with that if that’s the vibe you’re looking for. But I prefer a modern and inclusive atmosphere, hold the testosterone.

I took my wife here for our first anniversary. And let me say, these folks were top notch!! I informed them it was our anniversary before we got there, we showed up a bit early and got a table right away! Everyone was super friendly, and even helpful as we had never eaten anywhere quite that fancy! But they took us in and made our night absolutely special for us! There is paid parking across the street, and they do have vallet service. And their steaks were easily the best we have had.

I went here for my birthday dinner 29 September my husband surprised me.. Valet parking absolutely great. No wait time I was wished Happy Birthday, by host servers and anyone who walked passed. The table had very nice birthday decoration.  We had Maya csn I say she was absolutely amazing loved her professionalism,  smile and sweet demeanor. We were giving a celebratory champagne which was really good and later on a pineapple 10 day aged shot. We ordered dry aged ribeye, mash potatoes and asparagus really good and very hot.. After words I received a beautiful Birthday dessert. I LOVED THIS RESTAURANT. Thank you guys for making my 47th Birthday an amazing treat.

My wife and I had an amazing dinner here on our trip to Austin. Chris was an amazing server who really went out of his way for us. The food was amazing especially the calamari and the new skillet hash browns with caviar. Highly recommend the porcini rubbed bone-in ribeye of course. Thank you Jasmine as well.

It was a disappointing meal, there is way better steakhouses in Austin. The Bohemian: it was good, tasted mostly like champagne Extra dirty martini’s with kettle one: they were really good Oysters: they were fresh and good Prosciutto wrapped mozzarella: it was OK, the mozzarella didn’t taste as refreshing because of the prosciutto Wedge salad: it was good, could’ve used more dressing Bone in ribeye: not good, chewy and needed more seasoning

Food => 𝟴/𝟭𝟬 Ambience => 𝟴/𝟭𝟬 Customer service => 𝟵/𝟭𝟬 Quality Price Ratio => 𝟴/𝟭𝟬 . Very good restaurant! The hostess was great, and she changed our reservation to an inside table. And she put on the table a very nice Birthday decoration. We started on the bar, waiting for our table, with a champagne bottle. You can eat on the bar, great! I'll come back. Our server, instead there wer a lot of people, was efficiently and professional. They serve a bread basket and salty butter at the beginning, which are delicious. 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗲 We are very pocky with Steak Tartare. Always it's available always we order. And this is on the top five I ever taste on a restaurant. Hand-chopped beef with a lot of flavor. I liked serving all ingredients separately so you can mix at your taste. Awesome! 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗲 Very good. With avocado and cucumber. In my opinion, it is better without cucumber. Bit spicy. Very good! 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗬 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 Oh! No! Why do you aged a piece of beef, cook perfectly, tender and juicy meat, and then you put a shallot butter sauce? If you it serves separately, you could taste the beef, the sauce, and then you can mix if you want. The meat was awesome. Sides: parmesan truffle fries, poor, bad, frozen... not good. Roasted wild mushroom, maybe with less rosemary flavor would be better. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲 Great combination between cheesecake and Crème brûlée. Very delicious! 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Everything was great since we passed the door to the end. Very good food, variety, great wines, good service staff, nice decoration and illumination. Prices are not exaggerated. I'll come back soon, sure!

They sure know their steaks here! I had the one with gorgonzola crust. The price matches the quality, so bring a wallet, and an appetite. Lobster bisque I liked as well, could have been a bit lighter in texture. Great wine selection, Chardonnay, Cabernet. Service is good, extremely attentive, overly friendly. The place was near empty, the decor a bit old.

Had reservations that we changed numerous times for a Sunday evening and they accommodated this with ease. I believe our server's name was Robert and he took amazing care of us. Attentive but without being too over the top. The food was really good. Started with the clam chowder and it was good, but wouldn't order that again. Our steaks were a perfect rare and medium rare and the sides that we selected were just enough for two people. We had the crème brulée for dessert. Overall, a great meal.

My Wife took me to The Capital Grille on my birthday. It was nothing short of excellence. The service was very professional, the ambiance was relaxing and comfortable. The food was well seasoned, tender, and filling. If you want to impress your spouse or significant other for dinner, bring them to The Capital Grille.

Absolutely an incredible dining experience. My man Jamieson gave us 5 star service. It made the dining experience even better than we expected. The food was incredible and was full of flavor. For the quality of food the prices are very fair and reasonable. It’s a formal place so proper attire is required.

The food is so good! Just went for the second time and it was as amazing as the first time. I absolutely love that they bring out a celebratory dessert if you’re celebrating a birthday or anniversary. I also love that the hostesses and waiters know of the special event. Highly recommend!

I love steaks and apparently the steaks at The Capitol Grille love the customers. (See the picture). Now the rest of the story… Let me start by saying that our waiter (Jamieson C) was the epitome of what you hope to have during every restaurant visit. He informed us of the daily specials, made recommendations and provided answers to any questions we asked even to go so far as to get with the chef to get details on crab legs. We started with Prosciutto wrapped mozzarella and Fresh oyster on the half shell which had a mignonette sauce that made our day. Our main meal consisted of: Seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster, Bone-in Ribeye, Double cut lamb chops and Filet mignon. Our table foods, each dish serving for four, Lobster Mac “N” cheese, Roasted wild mushrooms and Sam’s mashed potatoes. We selected their Coconut Cream Pie for a dessert. We later found out they make their own dessert some of which the recipes have been handed out through the generations. We also found a surprise when we got home inside the bag with the food taken home.

Great service. Very friendly. The food is quite tasty too. Typical steakhouse prices, but not overly pretentious. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the beef tartare appetizer. It was quite good. The complimentary bread is very nice! Different types of bread.

We’ve been to The Capital Grille several times and it’s always delicious. The staff is outstanding and Lori was our waitress last time. She was super attentive, knowledgeable and very funny! They had the lobster bisque as a special and it was incredible with yummy chunks of lobster. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and the seafood tower did not disappoint!

Really good food and excellent service. My steak came out over and they had a recook out for me five minutes later that was a perfect medium rare. Other than that, the food was exceptional. Really good oysters and crab on the cold apps. Sout African lobster was incredible. Loved the banana cream pie as well.

Dinner Monday night for our 30th anniversary was at Capital Grill. We give Cap 12 out of 10. Everything was perfect. Steaks were prepared expertly, and the beef was melt in your mouth tender. Salads, I had a wedge, were large and diverse, with very tasty cherry tomatoes. Asparges was perfectly sauteed, firm but tender. We were gifted two flutes of annaversery champagne and desserts. Very thoughtful, several of the staff stopped by our table to wish us happy anniversary. Our server, Maya, was attentive without being obtrusive, professional and friendly. We'll ask for her on our next visit.
