Being a vegan, I didn't eat here myself. I did go inside with my wife. Never have I heard this woman smack and chew so loud. Who can lick their fingers loud? My wife! Because of that, I'm going to assume the food here is really, really great. For me, it was the atmosphere. I grew up in the "country" parts of Georgia. We had places like these. The unity, camaraderie, fellowshipping, and just the joy of being around folks enjoying some good old soul food, brought back so many memories.

First off when we walked in they didn’t greet us nor did they look up. They kept counting their tip jar. Then the food was horrible. I asked for more gravy which they made me pay .50 for and the cup wasn’t even full not half way full. I wish I I wouldn’t have left a tip on my card. The customer service sucks. We definitely won’t be back at all. My husband cooks way better. We were just trying to support our people businesses. Never again.

I can't breathe!!! I'm so full! The plates are worth every penny! This place puts the soul in soul food! The owner greeted us like we were old friend's. These are the places I love to find by accident while traveling. I can't wait to come back to Austin for a second plate and cornbread👍

I really enjoyed spending my money at a Black Owned Restaurant. The food was delicious. The equipment on the inside along with the floors needs to be replaced. The staff was very friendly. My kids got the chicken tenders plate and was supper excited that it was better than most fast food places.

I went there on April 3rd, this was my last weekend here in Austin, I had ordered Oxtail , rice gravy, candy yams, green beans, peach cobbler, I also ordered the Kool-aid that was watered down . When I tell you they are wrong for charging 21.00 for one Oxtail an a neck-bone that was not on the menu. I took my plate back in to let the lady know that it was only one oxtail and that there was a neck-bone in my plate. She seemed surprised that I knew what it was talking about lol I am a country girl I know my meats. After that she said I will get you another order . I got that ordered went back to my truck opened it up it was the same thing. At that point I just said forget it I wasn’t taking it back.( I only went there because Big Mama’s Kitchen, permanently closed. Now that’s where you would get your money’s worth. She changed 36.00 for hers , I promise you that you got what you paid for and then some it was all Oxtails no other meats aided in . ), Now the candy yams were good and the cornbread, I usually wait until I get home to eat my food not sure why but I am glad that I open it up to taste it . If not I would have been home that’s a 30 minute drive due to traffic. I would have been so mad 😡 . You think of all the People that didn’t open their food until they got home. You wonder why people don’t support you is because you always try to get over on people. Just sale what you say . I will never go back there again. So disappointed

I was hanging out Maggie Mae's in downtown Austin, and the doorman highly suggested this place. So sure enough I had to check it out. This little homey, cozy, soul food spot smelled amazing upon entering. I originally wanted alligator but unfortunately they were out of that, but I don't regret getting the meatloaf one bit! All of the food was very flavorful, and portions are generous for the price. They even took it up to notches when I found out they made Kool aid in house haha. Everything was above what was expected, and I definitely plan on coming back!

Maybe this was a one off. But I visited for the first time and ordered all sides. Once I receive it the sides were cold, the taste of the cabbage was way off same with the greens. The Mac and cheese appeared as if it had set all day One thing I will say is the service was great it felt like family. I will give it another try because I believe it was a one off day

I was so excited to try this place and had high expectations. But I have to be honest, the only thing that was good was the stuffing . The chicken was pink and still had blood in it. Not thoroughly cooked. The Mac and cheese was basic the chitterlings taste like were not cleaned properly. I Threw up after a while and also had a bad stomach ache. Not sure if I just went on a bad day but I definitely will not be returning. Also I ordered a peach cobbler that they didn’t put in my bag but I guess I should’ve checked it . But it’s not a place I would return to .

Whew, I walked out of there about 6 months pregnant with one very delicious food baby. We were helped by Tisha(? I hope I didn't butcher your name) and we don't have a single unkind thing to say. We got smothered pork chops, beef tips and gravy over rice, greens, corn, mac and cheese, yams and all that came with cornbread and one humongous cup of syrup-sweet koolaid, just like it ought to. Every bite was heaven, the meat just melted in your mouth. It tasted like being at my memas house for Sunday dinner. Thank you Roland's, for that taste of home. ❤

Friendly & like home. Just plain old good homecooked food. Very reasonable. Another restaurant was closed, so we were recommended to Roland's. Good choice.

Drove an hour to try this restaurant and it was closed. Hours on door day 11am open, I came at 1pm and the doors were locked. I was really looking forward to try this place. Not sure why they don’t have a phone number to call because I wanted to call to confirm they were open!

All the food is wonderful. Seasoned but not salty. The fried food isn't greasy. You must try it for yourself.
