poached egg breakfast bowl was tasty. the tri tip is where they lost me. Lightly seared on the outside but so very raw on the inside. Hurt my stomach and did not like to chew this. looks pretty though. I feel like they don’t have proper kitchen equipment or cook at this location, just assembling the food.

I’ve already written about how Emmer & Rye is my favourite restaurant in the country, so I was chomping at the bit to check out Henbit when I heard it opened. They have a limited menu, with a lot of the items that are almost direct copycats of some E&R staples (like the short rib with sweet potato). I opted for the pork sando, a ham & cheese kolache, and a monster cookie. Let me start by saying the kolache was life-changing. I did not know a kolache could taste like that. They use some porchetta-like meat instead of your standard deli meat, which really elevated it. The pork sando was great, but the acidity of the slaw/kraut/pickled carrots almost overwhelmed the fattiness of the pork and chorizo, and the sourdough roll made it difficult to eat the whole thing without it falling apart. The monster cookie was good, but too similar to Levain/Chip in NYC to really impress me. I really enjoyed my meal here, but will probably stick to E&R in the future and only return for that bomb kolache.

5/5 purely for the cookie alone. Get a cold brew from the bar right next to it (called Drink). Chew and sip and savor. I don’t what they put in the cookie but it’s got a slight teddy graham snack flavor in it’s melty interior! I’m not a big gooey cookie center person but I make an exception for this cookie. When I’m Austin again, I’m beelining for this cookie. We also ordered a pasta salad, the poke, and fried chicken sandwich. I think the poke was my Favorite although portions small - but I wanted something light after days of BBQ and tacos. Your goal in visiting here is the cookie; the food is accessory, but still tasty to eat if you’re also hungry.

Bad service! I was behind someone in line who was being helped an attendant. (Three employees are working at this time.) When the customer was done with their purchase, the assisting employee turned their back to me, walking away to do something. I stood waiting and was never spoken to. I eventually realize the order here self service system adjacent to the register. What I don’t appreciate is the employee, who just finished completing an in person transaction, confirming whether they will be continuing with in person transactions or directing me to the self ordering system. Also, the other two various employees walking back and forth, in total view, completely aware of me patiently waiting, with zero acknowledgment of my presence.

Visited this place Fareground because it was a group dinner so I just walked around and saw this Henbit. From the description it sounds delicious so I went ahead and ordered the fried chicken sandwich. And boy I am so glad I did. The fried chicken has thick meat patty but at the same time very crispy on the outside too! And what strikes me the most next is the amount of cilantro being added here. Somehow it works and I think it is reall very delicious! There is like a sour sauce inside too but I am not sure what they put. I also added avocado and bacon as additional add ons and there is totally no regrets at all. ;) If there is a chance, I will definitely come back again either for this fried chicken sandwich or the beef burger as my colleagues ordered the beef burger and they told me it was nice too! P/s: bonus info. The crispy sweet potato is a must order item imho. It is really crispy and it comes in small cube size so it really makes it fun to be eaten as snack here.

Henbit lives up to the hype of being from the same team as Emmer & Rye. Everything there is delicious (albeit pricey for some wallets). I have fallen in love with their lavender matcha. If you’re more of a coffee drinker they’ll skip the lavender syrup in your latte upon request. The one thing you must not miss is the sausage breakfast burrito. It is easily the best one I’ve ever had.

They customized a bowl for me since I’m new to plant based eating and it was BEYOND DELICIOUS! The lemonade was perfect too. Very friend and accommodating staff.

We stopped here for a late night bite after a disappointing bat watch under Congress Bridge, and this burger was absolutely amazing!! This is a top 5 burger of an time, you HAVE to get one if you're in Austin. It's made fresh, loaded with toppings and the meat is unbelievably delicious! Can't taste this burger high enough. Just unreal how good it tasted.

Stopped in for lunch during a conference I was attending at the JW Marriott. Ordered the kale and avocado salad with Harissa chicken on it and it was FAB! So delicious, kale was tender and the dressing was delightful. It was really filling, too. Great service and the food is very fresh. So good I came back the next day and ordered it again. Very happy. Wish they'd come to Minneapolis!

I ordered a kale / salmon quinoa bowl which was 17$! I did need to ask for the salmon to be re cooked as opposed to eating tiny raw piece of salmon. It was also very salty & once Id eaten the salmon , I was left with a dry bowl of kale! There were about 10 pumpkin seeds & 5 dried raisins ! & No visible quinoa ! It was just a bowl of dry kale with no dressing ! Very disappointed! I went to the counter to ask about it & I was them asked if I stirred it around & then I was ignored ! As they just walked away from me. Not worth the price or my time!!

I came here for the breakfast burrito, but I was a little late for breakfast - so I went for the Reuben sammie - boy was I happy with that choice! That had to be the most delicious Reuben sandwich on the planet earth! The peppers and sauerkraut complimented the salty flavors of the perfectly cooked meat and melted cheese. Oh and the spicy cucumbers on the side were heaven. Also, I couldn’t leave without trying the infamous monster cookie - quite possibly the most delicious cookie I’ve ever eaten. You need this cookie in your life! Buy a few for the road, because you’ll be dreaming about it for days to come!!

I could give a -10 if there was an option . the salmon bowl had uncooked salmon. When I took it back the lady at the counter responded rudely that this is how it’s eaten . If i wanted uncooked salmon i would have gotten a sushi instead. And then she picked up the salmon from my bowl put it on the pan and gave it back . How can someone pick food from someone’s plate and give back the same thing ? Will never go back again . Imagine what’s going on in the kitchen , They are following the worst cooking standards and should be reported immediately.

The monster cookie is amazing warm out the oven and when it sets!! A definite must stop if going to be in Austin TX.

Customer service has since reached out and refunded me the duplicate charge. Much appreciated. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Had a very disappointing experience. Some of the food was great, some was meh. But the most disappointing thing was being charged twice for a relatively expensive meal. I’ve reached out to the restaurant at least four times at this point with no response or even the ability to leave a message. Will definitely not be eating here again.

Oh, Henbit. This place is definitely worth a visit for their lavender matcha and monster cookies alone. It’s no surprise they have a strong pastry game with Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph, also of Emmer & Rye, running the show. Don’t stop at the cookies though. Henbit has a full menu of tasty dishes. The lemongrass shrimp bowl is delicious, and I think their breakfast burrito is the next thing I’m going to try...and a monster cookie to go!

Ordered a single (double) patty and matcha lemonade. Burger was a bit more salty than expected. Not sure what made it so salty. They forgot my drink and I had to ask for it and they had to verify that I ordered it. Drink was good. Not sure I would go back just based on the burger alone.
