Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac is a serene oasis that exudes tranquility and spiritual beauty. A captivating retreat where visitors can immerse themselves in the peaceful ambiance and admire the stunning architecture of the abbey.

Beautiful spot, inside is interesting - but we only saw church and gift shop. Church is modern and hallway up to it is old and tiled in a beautiful pattern, nice contrast. We bought cheese (theirs - delish) and crackers and sat at picnic tables provided - many others bought cheese and had beverages and add ins of their own. Really relaxing and peaceful under the trees.

Amazing place! Wonderful picturesque landscapes. Interesting story. Extraordinary architecture. But I really liked the store with a large selection of cheeses, jams, sauces produced in the abbey. And very tasty apples! We returned home with a big bag of different delicious things.

An absolute must if your in magog. The abbey as a beautiful architectural wonder. The brick outlay is most magnificent. The boutique in the basement is a special place. Homemade jam and jelly, and of course the cheese is the absolute best. A beautiful retreat on a busy day.

We were passing through the Lake Memphramagog area and decided to take a side trip to visit the Abbey. It is nestled in the woods about 20 minutes south of Magog on the west side of the lake. There is a large Church to visit (which is nice but not spectacular designed in a late 20th century style) and surround business operations that make cheese, apple products and cider. There is a self guided audio tour ($9 for tour) which takes about 20-30 minutes. Best of a all is the underground shop that offers a number of products produced by the Abbey from cheeses, to ciders, to apple sauce, and the like. On the grounds is a very small chapel build by hand by the monks in the 1940's as well as hiking and picnic grounds. Overall it was a nice place to visit and spend some quiet time on a nice day...please the shop was a bonus. Enjoy! NOTE: There is a Gregorian Chant concert which we did not attend but did occur while we were visiting. It appeared popular...check the website for details.

Very beautiful building with a lot of friendly people. This is the first abbey I’ve been to, and it was a great introduction to monastic life. I went during the late fall, and only the self-guided tour was available. It was perfect because I got to move at my own pace, there are a ton of informational signs, and pictures are allowed as long as mass is not being held. The audio devices can be set to both French and English, and all of the signs are written in both languages as well. The boutique was open as well, and all of the items (including the tour) were very reasonably priced. One of my favorite parts of my trip to the eastern townships, I hope I’ll be able to come back in the summer! Note: during the “winter” months (I believe November-April) the boutique and tours are only available on the weekend.

Beautiful quiet place full of serenity. Was disappointed à I was not able to visit the Cheese factory I guess it’s not the season. Bought stuff at the boutique and a visit worthwhile. Didn’t have to buy any tickets

You have to visit! Lots of parking. Their products are fantastic!! Be very quiet when you go, sometimes they are in prayer. Close to Magog. Free to visit. It is beautiful!

Very interesting history if you are looking for that. The products made by the Monks are excellent and very varied of different types

Beautiful and special place! If looking for relaxing, prayer, spiritual retreat, or just a Mass, worth passing by...

Unique place to visit! It was very crowded because of apple picking season. Unfortunately you can only tour one hallway and the chapel and you don’t get to learn about the cheese making or apple cider or too much about the monks. It would be great if you could sample the cheeses or get more information. I still think it’s very cool that they have set up these businesses and have become so successful at it! It’s not everyday you come across an abbey with award winning cheese maker monks.

It's a great place to stay, away from the daily noise, robotic life, television, telephone, etc. To find internal and external peace, tranquility, harmony and much more. Priceless experience! its my third stay over. The nuns are extremely kind and helpful. I attended all the prayers and chantings sessions; its the spiritual experience that matters even though I do not understand the chantings in latin. Meeting and praying with the Monks is a very spiritual experience. It truly is a blessing being here.

Such a beautiful space. I loved the exhibits of crèches from around the world. I would love to come back to hear the organ. Whether you are spiritual or religious or not, worth a visit. The shop was full of delicious cheeses, compotes and ciders made by the monks as well as other local products from other Trappist monks in the region.

The boutique has a wide variety of locally made products at competitive prices. The exterior of the Abbaye and the surrounding grounds are magnificent, while sadly the interior reminded me of my old generic school tiles. Still, a nice meditative experience.

Amazing cheese and history to learn inside. I was lucky enough to witness a musical performance from the monks and the organist.

I loved this monastery and the attached boutique. The church is so beautiful and yet simple. The whole experience is very calming and a wonderful sanctum. The staff at the boutique are very warm and friendly and look for ways to educate you about the bargains.

A very modern interior with veritgo inducing post-modern tile work. But the real reason most visitors come here is the Boutique in the basement with a dizzing array food and amazing cheeses.
