What can you possibly say about a museum devoted to a canned meat product? It was a lot of fun and very educational. You learn about the various products that are made. Including those made for foreign markets. There are several interactive displays to test your knowledge and your skills about spam. Masks are required if you have not been vaccinated. There are some special sections for kids and plenty of displays for adults so it is a great place to visit for the whole family. The gift shop offers a variety of merchandise and also has spamples at various times. It gives you a chance to sample some of the different varieties of spam. At the time of my visit the museum did not open until 10:00 a.m.

Super neat tourist attraction. It was cool to see the different types of spam and how it’s eaten throughout the world. The facility is not exactly dog friendly unless you can carry the dog through the museum. Unfortunately you can’t buy any of the spam that is not readily available in the US stores. I feel like they’re really missing out on a good opportunity for sales if they offered new varieties! The kids really enjoyed the play area.

Very interesting and cool museum. All the interesting history is laid out in an interactive experience. The Spam cans riding around the track up in the ceiling are neat to see. The gift shop has lots of cool stuff. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. All in all a cool place to visit.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at the SPAM Museum! It was cool to see the different varieties from all over the world. Great for kids with the factory and play area. We visited because our campsite in Albert Lea got rained on so we needed something to do. Very happy we took a quick drive to Austin, MN to experience this museum! They also have a great gift shop as well. Lastly, great that it's free!

Just couldn't resist stopping here. Didn't even know it existed. The place was hopping with tourists. I had no idea spam was such an important part of American history! The staff were very friendly, helpful, and funny!! May never get back there again. But, it was an enjoyable stop on our trip out west!!

Love this place. Was actually the best museum we’ve been to across America. Especially being free was a huge bonus. The kids and wife loved it. THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY which was really cool. The history and the interactive games for the kids were so cool. I would liked to have tried some of the rare SPAM that we got to see but they only have basic flavors in the gift shop. Come on guys you guys have to sell the cool products that we can’t just buy at any grocery store. Would recommend going if you’ve been thinking about it.

For starters, it's free! The kids played forever in the play area! They have an interactive museum portion, you could can 'spam', and play in the play area. It has a variety actives the kids enjoyed too: a reading and nursing nook, a kitchen/picnic area, and the climbing section that looks like a barn. It's a good place to take the kids to play. Definitely recommend!

I was going to spend the night in Austin Minnesota during a recent vacation. I arrived in town in md-afternoon, and it was too early to check in to my hotel. When I did a quick search of nearby things to do, I found The Spam Museum. I really didn’t know what to expect so off I went. I found free parking near by and enjoy a short walk around downtown Austin before making my way to the Museum. Outside of the entrance is a nice statue of a farmer and two hogs, which was evidently a nice photo spot as several people were stopping to take pictures. The museum is completely free and when you check in you are even offered a free sample of SPAM. this turned out to be a great stop for folks of all ages. There are several interactive exhibits for both kids and adults. The museum is not only dedicated to all things SPAM but also gives you a little history of the Hormel Company and how it was founded here in Austin by George Hormel. I found the exhibits on how SPAM was used during World War II to be particularly interesting. There is also an interesting exhibit on how popular SPAM is in different countries around the world. There is even a gift shop where you can pickup anything from magnets, shirts, hats and just about anything else related to SPAM. All total I spent an enjoyable hour here and found it to not only be fun but informative. This is a great little museum and it’s FREE!

So much fun! The kids loved the museum! Plenty of fun facts and things to do! They even come around with SPAM samples!! They have lots of fun historical facts and a fun play place for kids. The store inside has some really cute spam souvenirs! Bonus the museum is very inclusive from motion sensor doors to noise canceling headphones and cute quiet areas!

2023: Lots of fun and history. Knowing that I grew up on spam and loved spam my niece surprised me with a surprise trip to the museum. Even though my wife and niece are not fans of spam, they were surprised to have such a great time visiting a museum. They even sent pictures to others. Most did not realize there was such a museum and others claimed they were envious that we were able to visit the museum.

Who knew there was so much history behind the Hormel brand?! This was such a cool experience and fun knowledge that was gained. The facility is well maintained. There are hands on activities. Children and adults can definitely find an afternoon of fun at the museum. The offer SPAM samples while you are visiting. You can purchase souvenirs and SPAM in the gift shop. There is no cost to visit, so even if you have a tight budget you can still find an afternoon of enjoyment with your family here!

Although its size is small, this museum is really worth a visit. I especially enjoyed the touring which covers the history of the company Hormel as well as of its owners Geo and Jay Hormel. It is quite inspiring to learn how the owners kept improving their products, and how SPAM became a supply to the US's allies during the war, and still a popular food for many different countries after the war. (The touring girl has done a great job!) There is also a play area for kids, and our kiddle liked it a lot. Will definitely come back when there is a chance!

This museum is so quirky and fun! I was impressed that some of their displays have changed since we visited 5 years ago. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town or a detour if you are heading up to the twin cities. The museum is a lot of fun for adults and kids. They have a little farm house and play area with a slide. The kids loved the area where you can 'make' your own SPAM and had fun seeing who could so it the fastest. My oldest was able to do the full case in under 2 minutes. It was a really cute addition to the museum. I love their gift shop! They do a military discount and even have shirts on sale to support the people after the Maui wildfire.

You know you want it. You know you need it. It's the fleshy salty pink flavors of SPAM in all its proud glory. All your friends, family, and occasional visitors to Minnesota MUST make the important pilgrimage to the Mecca of Pork Products... THE AUSTIN SPAM MUSEUM.

The museum is free. It’s a little small but perfect in the fact it’s not overwhelming. The staff is absolutely fantastic and friendly.

*** Everyone has a different experience *** I had a great experience at SPAM Museum. In this museum, you can get more information about SPAM such as its history, many ways to cook with SPAM, teach how to read the numbers on the can, and show different kinds of SPAM around the world,... The kids will have an area to experience the SPAM canning process, which is great. Their staff also go around to let you try some SPAM flavors. If you wanna buy SPAM or souvenirs, you can go to the SPAM shop inside the museum. Just a little disappointed that they do not have as many flavors of SPAM as I thought.

Such a amazing museum. It is small but in the most perfect way, any larger and it would have been toomuch. It had interactive attractions and was well thought out. Our family had a lovely time and can't wait to go back!

My mother and I took my two little boys age 8 and almost 10. They loved it. There's so much interactive stuff to do for the kids. And the best thing was they had taste testing. The kids really love that too. We got to dress up like inspectors and the plant and we got to practice packaging span. The boys really loved it and me and my mom liked it too.

Great FREE museum for kids! Lots of interactive parts. The indoor play area is really nice as well. Especially for cold weather days. They have a nice gift shop along with clean restrooms with a changing table.

It's worth the visit. Who knew there were so many varieties of SPAM? The bscon fueled motorcycle was interesting. And they've got some cool merchandise to purchase in the gift shop.

Novel experience. Had spam canning race with family, we are a bit competitive!! Play area was fun for my Grandson, he enjoyed the play house and serving us. Topped it off with going into the Spam store and buying some trinkets!!

Fun and informative. Employees were very friendly. Glad we drove out of our way a bit to stop and visit. Also, there is a large variety of items in the gift shop at various price points for anyone's budget.
