It was a spontaneous decision because we suddenly felt like having some fish after beach time, and thankfully that was by far the best dinner we have had during our trip. We went for some cod fishes, and they are 10 out of 10. The chef also offered some free cod salad (with sandwiches) and we were amazed at how good it was.. Definitely recommend it to anyone who are planning a trip to this lovely city!

Absolutely love this place. The food is amazing with generous portions, very reasonable prices and great services. They also have wine recommendations to go with the dishes. A must visit when you're in Aveiro, and it's not far from the Arte Nouveau museum too

It’s my first time trying bacalhau dish and I ordered the bacalhau with crispy olive. The dish is heavenly. And service is good. It’s a cozy & near to fine dining restaurant. I believe anyone that are here for a day trip must pop by this place for lunch. There is not much crowd too on a Sunday afternoon.

Great experience, highly recommended! We ordered two different meals from the menu, cod fish related. Both had fresh and really good ingredients, the fish was awesome. The codfish risotto was awesome. Even the desert was amazing! Good quality/price relation, gonna come back!

You need to try the Cod Risotto, it is spectacular! All the food and wine pairing was excellent. Best meal we had in Portugal, will go back again if we are back in Portugal.

Excellent restaurant. The dishes were cooked to perfection. The staff was very nice. We liked everything here: the ambiance, the food, the service. Would come back. We had pasteis de bacalhau, bacalhau a lagareiro, kids menu with beef steak and a wonderful house dessert.

Fine dishes, the Bacalhau e Manga was delightful, a really good contrast and aromatic dish. And the desert was just amazing. Try the chocolate amendoim e caramelo! The staff was great. The decoration could be better, but the food was TOP, so 5*!

I was in Aveiro for a conference, and was hosting a dinner at Bacalhau & Afins for a large group of 10+. I was blown away by them. They were able to meet all my requests, even though there were a few unexpected changes at the last minute. In particular, extra people showed up and the restaurant came up with a solution to add chairs and settings for them. Despite the hassle, all my guests were comfortable and we felt at home quickly. The wine selection was impeccable, and they clearly know their wines. There were helpful suggested pairings on the menu, but they helped us with selecting bottles for the table for varying palates. To top it off, the food was simply amazing. They clearly had put in effort to make sure the food is special. I especially remember the bras de bacalhau, portuguese steak and fried octopus on inked rice. Everybody complimented the food. To top it off, the price was really good. We had appetizers, mains and dessert, with copious amounts of good wine, and it came down to 50 euros per person. After a successful business dinner, I came back the next day with my husband to properly enjoy another beautiful meal. Would come back again to Aveiro, just for the food at Bacalhau & Afins!

The atmosphere and service were wonderful. The food was good but nothing out of this world. The price and portions were very reasonable though. Nice play to eat with friends and family.

Recommended by my boutique Hotel as I requested a non tourist trap restaurant, this restaurant is excellent portuguese experience. The interior is superb. Service is 10/10. They specialize on cod and the fish was simply perfect. Desert were to die for too. If you are a foodie, this is the place to go in Aveiro.

I really liked this place, it was a recommendation from the locals so I trusted and I enjoyed very much. The staff was super friendly and the food was really good! I had the black rissoto and was so delicious and fresh!

A special twist on traditional Portuguese Bacalhau but if you're not a fish lover then the meat dishes are delicious. We had the Bacalhau with curried mango puree which was delicate and fresh and the veal cheek with candied nuts that was cooked to perfection and rich in flavour. The recommended wine pairings were spot on for every dish. If you have room order the peanut chocolate dessert accompanied by the white port. This restaurant is a definite must visit if you're looking for something a little different in Aveiro. Price was very reasonable. We had 2 mains, 4 glasses of wine, 2 glasses of port, 2 x coffees and a large bottle of water.

Phenomenal atmosphere and service, but what really sets this local apart from others is the amazing food. I especially recommend the cod with mango, a chef specialty that combines the sweet mango with the savory cod to make a delightful dish of delicious contrasts. The "bacalhao a nata" was also very good (I love the cheese covering)!

An absolutely fabulous restaurant!! I am not a huge fish lover, but the cod here is AMAZING!! Super friendly staff and great wine selection. Do not be dismayed by the construction going on outside. This place is seriously worth coming. No outdoor seating, BUT the indoor space is awesome!!

l've never eaten anywhere, feeling I've had a life experience before. We took the waiter's advice and had the corresponding wine with each course. A Bacalhou salad for starters with a beautiful zesty white but balanced somehow. Amazing! For my main, I had the Veal & Truffle with an 18 year old full bodied red to die for. My wife went for a cod dish which came with a very fruity red. My wife and I looked each other in the eye and said we must try the desserts!! So I had a Vango, coconut marshmallow and orange cake served with a fruity red port and my wife tried the sweet rice with a dusting of cinnamon with a caramel 20 yr old white port €96 for the two of us but left more than happy with the food, drinks and service.

Great food and amazing service! Honestly the best restaurant we had during our week long Portuguese travel! They have even helped make our special evening extra special with their kind attention and service! Thanks again!

The staff is nice, the decoration inside pretty. Avoid eating outside unless you really want to enjoy the sun. The food is good, nothing more. The wine proposals too, nothing more. Finally, a classic meal but too expensive compared to the performance. There is probably better and cheaper in the Center of Aveiro. Go look somewhere else.

Exceptional. We had a delicious meal with excellent service. The interior is well appointed and cozy. The menu was broad, so we could sample bacalhau and other dishes. Our server was warm and friendly. He paced out our three main courses (three diners) and a starter (cod fritters) so we could share each course, and these were perfectly paired with wine. Go for the wine pairings! Even the half glass pairing (around 3€) was a generous pour. It allowed us to sample wines from Douro, Setubal and Alentejo.

Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend! We're definitely coming back. And the bartender, Merina, couldn’t have been nicer. He was prompt, approachable, caring, and knowledgable about the food. She's the best waiter we've had in Portugal.
