Wonderful small restaurant that has a lovely authentic feeling. The restaurant is slightly out of the way, but worth the small walk. It is small, so not the best for bigger groups but they can accommodate. The food is fantastic. Really great flavours and really well seasoned. Service is friendly. Highly recommend

Nice little family run restaurant. It fills up very quickly around lunch time. The server is super nice and friendly. Food was served quickly. Everything was good. I would eat here again if I happen to be in town.

Outstanding , this family runned small cozy restaurant. I’d say all you need is patience. The place has just a few tables. It’s very common to have to queue to get a table. So did we , 15-20 min we waited. Menu itself is completely in Portugese, but they have an extra page providing basic translations for the matching dishes they serve on their “daily menu”. It might differ from time to time. We ordered a small bottle of red wine for two , one vegetable soup, grilled squid served with vegetables and fries and white fish with vegetables and potatoes. As dessert their well known “Portugese” tiramisu and crème brûlée and two coffee. Portions can be ordered per 1 or 2 persons with slightly difference in price but all indicated on their menu. I really want to say that the waiters here are the most friendly and attentive people we met on our trip in Portugal. At the beginning the woman did remark that her English might not be as good. Well it was perfect! Keep the good work 👍🏻

Excellent service: the waiter helped us translate the menu and also offered his own recommendations. Traditional, delicious cooking: the dishes were prepared based on what seems to be recipes passed down from the family and they have very good flavor. Great value: big portions of tasty food for a good price!

Great family restaurant. Incredible service and amazing food! Best codfish we tasted in Portuguese. 10/10!

Absolutely loved Picota! I'd give ten stars if I could! From outside it doesn't seem like anything special, but the food is great with a homemade feel (AND you don't need any additional salt/pepper like you often do in other places). From the dessert list I recommend the caramel mousse. Service is top. Prices are good and you get more than you expect.

Hidden gem in a small street in Aveiro. We had delicious squid and salad. Honest food, not complicated, skillfully prepared. As a bonus the staff is very friendly. And the price is great. For just over 40 euros the two of us had the main dish, salad, deserts and a bottle of wine.

The best host we ever met! A little gem away from the tourist spots. They help you with the menu and recommend the plates based on your preferences. We had the dorade and the veal and both were grilled perfectly. The house wine was also nice

A small family-run restaurant tucked away from the main strip and all the better for it. The sign above the door says snack bar, but they offer a full dining menu. It's not sophisticated, but offers good cooking and is frequented by local people.

Very tasty traditional Portuguese food. We had veal stew and grilled fish. Small portions came with salad, potatoes, rise and salad plus fresh bread. We will be back.

I felt like at home in this small restaurant in Aveiro. Warm welcoming, quick and efficient service, cheap but with very high quality local cuisine. Can't ask for anything more. Simply perfect!

The reviews for this place are very good and they are right.! The food was delicious, cooked to order and the service friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable; we would gladly go back again and again. If you like eating in small, unpretentious places you will love this one. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite places to eat in my hometown of Aveiro. Traditional Portuguese food at its best. Very home like ambience and great service. Cannot recommend enough.

We just had an amazing traditional homemade Portuguese meal at a family run restaurant. It was our best meal in Portugal so far. To start we had a warm bun with butter, we had a bottle of green wine and a main meal which was meant to share between two people. The main meal was very generous in portion, and a reasonable price, we had grilled cod, potatoes, carrots, turnip tops and olives. We finished the evening with a chocolate mousse and caramel custard. The menu was in Portuguese, we were provided a menu that had a second page that helped with the translation. We were fortunate the owners son, Paulo, was at the restaurant this weekend and was very gracious in providing his help in choosing our meal. We appreciated the care that went into the preparation of our meal and ensuring that we were satisfied with our dining experience.
