The best cod fish anywhere. Highly recommended. From the starter dishes all the way to the deserts, everything is very good!

One of the best places to eat the traditional Portuguese cod fish, "bacalhau". The staff are amazingly friendly. Food is lovely and with huge portions. There aren't too many vegetarian or vegan options, but please speak with the staff, they have other dishes apart from the menu. I ate an amazing beyond burger.

Another must visit restaurant in Aveiro Portugal. Service is impeccable and the bacalhau is the best in the city if not the country...

We have been coming to Batista for several years during our multiple trips to Portugal every year. We live in the United States. A reservation was made for 6 people, my cousin was visiting Portugal from Boston. I mentioned to the service manager our desire for my cousins to have a great experience at Batista, similar to what we’ve experienced over the years! The quality of the Cod is the best, grilled to perfection always!!! You will enjoy your Cod I guarantee you! However, the service was the worst we experienced and expected!!! Literally waited 10 minutes to get waiters attention and he kept ignoring us. We know this is August, service goes down just about everywhere in Portugal as August accounts for busiest month. Besides unexpectedly bad service, the portions were not equitable as what other tables were served! This was true of several tables we saw around us. The service manager brought us another portion of Cod which I refused several times. My comments were aimed at improving this great restaurant, unfortunately my experience was awful with service, rushed, brushed off — this takes away the 5 stars I would give Batista. In closing, Batista in August may need to be avoided or reconsider a different place, I certainly will do that going forward! Mario - Boston, USA

Give them a Michelin star, PLEASE!!!!! Absolute best bacalhau I’ve ever had. And the roasted potatoes deserve a star of their own. Be sure to make reservations, you won’t regret it..

We had the most incredible codfish, the specialty of the house. Everything was so delicious, follow by yummy chocolate mousse. We even got a backroom tour showing how the cod was rehydrated. Such a neat place, and reasonably priced.

One of the best cod I've ever eaten. It's all about the way they cook it. Try the "migas" with the main course and "ovas de bacalhoa" and "pataniscas" for appetizers. Very good choice of wines. And for dessert try "natas do céu com ovos moles". Delicious. Highly recommended.

The codfish is a dream. The service is makes you feel at home. It's that kind of place where you can feel the love.

Our Portuguese friend from Aveiro took us there while we visited the city. I think it was the best fish I have ever eaten in my life. I didn’t think you could make cod so tasteful. Soft, tender and absolutely deliciously seasoned. Baked potatoes are out of this world. If you are around Porto/Aveiro area you have to eat there and try their bacalhau. It might be the best fish you ever had. It surely was for me.

In my opinion, both the codfish and the deserts are good but, given the price, I expected more. In the other hand, the smashed potatoes were perfect. (review updated after the reply from the owner, since I agree that I should not base my review on what others think of the place)
