So glad that we discovered this part of Perth! Wild flowers and endemic plants and animals to enjoy.

Looking for a true outback experience? walk or bike in the footsteps of railway history on this enchanting trail. Holes remain in the rocks from the dynamite blasts of days long past and you're sure to encounter a Kangaroo on this rich red earth Australian disused railway line!

John Forrest National park is a very good reserve for outing. It is preferred to take drinking water with you. There are some attraction sites including natural falls.

Beautiful spot for an escape into the bush and not far from the city. Lots of interesting history here as Western Australia’s first National Park. Lots of friendly local kangaroos and people. The walk to the tunnel is really nice. Can’t wait to come back after some rain to see the waterfall.

John Forrest isn’t your typical park but rather memorabilia of Western Australia history. The park offers variety of treks that allows you to explore different parts of the park on foot, bikes and driving. There are beautiful scenery from the scenic river to the beautiful wild flower. As a visitor you have the option of picnic or having a meal at the John Forrest tavern. At Tavern you will have an opportunity to interact with the kangaroos🦘🦘. I Loved the whole experience , will definitely do visit the park again. Ps the flies will be your accompany you through out your adventure.

BBQ area good. Facilities and walks good. Unfortunately no water at all in streams for kids to play. Probably better on winter.

Great place for a walk. Lots of different walking options. Flat walks to more off piste walks. Trails are well directed with regular markers, so you can't get lost. Nice picnic areas. Good for families as well as avid walkers.

We love taking our young sons here to explore, hike and play. You typically need to pay an entrance fee as it is a National Park, though you can pay for annual entrance fee. There is ample car parking, though it can get super packed! Toilet block, picnic benches and lots of areas to set up for a lunch. The trails are generally well sign posted. A great spot not too far out of Perth.

Had a quick hike and picnic on a sunday morning. The park have different levels of hike trail difficulties suited for all ages. We took one of the short trails and we enjoyed the scenery and beauty of nature. They have a number of picnic tables at the entrance. We also saw a group of kangaroos roaming around which was quite common in the place. Definitely worth a visit for relaxation, exercise and family bonding.

Great national park full of lovely views, nature and points of historical interest. Some nice spots to have a picnic and BBQ as well, although there are large areas of the park in the natural state with few or no amenities. Make sure you plan your visit as some of the best spots are only accessible by foot/bike and take a while to get to.

Its a well maintain forest. I like the trails. Love the view and the the story of the place as well. My suggestion is prepare water bottle as you go trail, especially on the hot summer like now. They do have a great picnic area.

Great place for a walk, hike or bike ride. Recent rain has really had a wonderful affect on the bushland. Free parking is available off Morrison Rd and you'll be just a short walk from the historic Swan View Tunnel. Remember to take water with you on your walk and I'd suggest sticking to the trails & pathways. Amazing views will surround you as you wander through a native bushland.

A beautiful location around 30 mins from Perth providing bbq / picnic facilities, toilets and plenty of parking but be warned, it's $15 entry per car. Make a day if it and get your entry fees worth. Walking trails of various lengths with waterfalls nearby. Dont forget a hat and sunscreen. I wouldn't recommend going during rain or extreme heat. Spring and autumn is a great time.

Great little walk and specifically for the Tunnel. It's an interesting part of WA history that more people should know about. But it's cool how most things built in the late 1800s were linked, from Fremantle to the Perth Mint to this Tunnel, they all played a part in the bigger scheme that was Western Australia at the time. Go on, go check it out

The John Forrest National Park is a great place to spend your day. The park is well cared for and has many opportunities for enjoyment for all ages. If you want to spend time around the @John_forrest_wild_flower_tavern you can. You can spend time around the tavern at any one of the BBQ areas. If you're into fitness, the park has some great walks that caters for most fitness levels. Because it a national park, there will be a admission charge. We paid $15.00 to enter in the car. Well worth the trip from Perth. Note: if you plan to undertake any of the walks, make sure you are equipped. (Suitable walking footwear, water, sun hat and glasses. Something to eat is also recommended)

Peaceful and picturesque. The walk combined with the tranquillity you will experience is a blessing in itself. Look out over the mountains as you walk or keep on the lookout for wildlife as you stroll through as the mountains are teeming with life. I did a short loop through the Swan view Tunnel but will definitely return and make a day of it at some point. Go by yourself or go with friends and family I believe you'll all have a nice time

Visited John Forrest National Park to do the 15KM Eagles View Walk (which I would highly recommend). We also walked to the Swan View Tunnel along the old railway. Our total hike was about 21KM. The park and hiking trails are well kept. Great views back to the city from the trails. Toilets were clean. Lots of picnic benches. Paid $15 (per car) to enter the park. The park was very quiet when we arrived at 8AM on a Monday. There were a few people around when we left at midday.

Simply Stunning! Many hiking tracks of varying difficulty levels, or just come to play with the kids - definitely recommend coming between autumn and early spring if you want to see the falls in action. Lots of wildflowers and native animals, with picnic areas and toilets. Perfect day out.

Excellent place to explore as a mini get away from the city. There are walking and cycling trails, picnic and bbq areas, and a cafe. You can relax and watch the birds and kangaroos or go on a walk to enjoy the nature and flowers. The entry costs $15 per vehicle which you pay at the entrance to the area (there is a parking machine that takes both card and cash).

Love this place! It has many different walking trails to take with different difficulties, you will most likely see some heritage places like the tunnel.along your walk. Plenty of spots to park at different entrances to the park. There aren't many toilets but there are some at the main visitor area

This is a great national park to visit with family. Roughly an hour from Perth. We went in summer, so there was no much water, but there was still plenty of things to do especially for families. Lots of good walks and exploring. Few geocaches around. and if you stay till the afternoon, you can either witness the pub feeding the local kangaroos.

A lovely national park with relics from its history preserved alongside new amenities. Friendly kangaroos that frequent the tavern are a tourist drawcard, but the tavern will be bulldozed soon, to make way for more carpark and a Cafe, I believe. A Park Pass entry fee is paid per car on entry to the park ($15). Good walking trails. Public toilets. Plenty of wildlife. Well worth a visit and an awesome place to take overseas and interstate visitors.

  • 4/5 Joshua H. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely spot for a picnic or BBQ with the family, play equipment for the kids and lite walking tracks for everyone. The tavern can get a bit crowded and busy around lunchtime so get your kids ice-cream early to avoid a wait.

Kickass park, the pitch black old rail tunnel is a must, along with both waterfalls. If there's no water, go for the views! The place is bicycle friendly, with locking points at the waterfalls. Plenty of hiking trails as well for the more adventurous. You'll have to pay an entry fee to get in here unless you have a National Parks Pass - a worthy investment in Perth if you like the outdoors!
