Awesome hike today. Make sure you have a lot of water. Parking is seven dollars. The lady at the window was nice and I had no issues with parking. Try to get there early as possible in the summer at the sun and heat can be brutal pit here in Arizona.

A beautiful and well kept park in the southwest Valley of Phoenix. Very few people here when we came to watch the sunset. You have to pay to get in the park but that's what helps keep it in good shape and with good facilities.

I've had so many life experiences in this park. It is a second home. I got married behind the nature center. My family of 6 has been on many Halloween night hikes. I've hiked and biked 100's of miles here over the years.we miss you, ranger tippy (she once led a night hike wearing a white feather boa)! This park will always have a special place in my heart ❤

Great place to hike, but unfortunately, we didn't wear the right shoes. Regardless, we found the easy trails to walk on. Trails were easy to walk, well marked. It does cost $7 at the gate, but this park is huge. Lots of restrooms available, it appears overnight camping is available for trailers and RV. The park is dog friendly, and the lady at the gate gave him a treat when we paid. Lots of covered areas with picnic tables.

So many trails to hike and it's rarely crowded in the early morning, great trails for dogs and kids. Lots of beautiful homes to look at as you're hiking the numerous foothills. Not too steep of a climb, I have 3 small dogs that are ok with it. There is also a park fee of 7$.

Beautiful park . Very clean and well kept. There are many different trails at different levels of difficulty. If you’re new, or you would just like a copy, ask the attendant at the entrance, for recommendations for any level and they’ll provide a map for any specific trail as well as a guide that list all the trails that equals 51 miles of hiking. There are many spots for picnics and or resting as well.

Beautiful park comprising more than 19,000 acres with a variety of well-marked trails suitable for all levels. Activities include: hiking, trail-running, mountain biking, picnicking in dedicated reservable ramadas, camping, equestrian. Nice visitor center with very friendly staff. Restrooms, water at visitor center and equestrian staging area. Includes a section of the Maricopa Trail. $2 entry if on foot or bike; $7 per car. Day use except for the camping area, which currently is only available at the equestrian center. Gem of a park!

Great place to ride. Lots of climbing and speed. The Expert loop has more technical features. Aptly named :). This trail head is next to the Phoenix Speedway where they host NASCAR races. Very cool!

I love coming to this park to get a breath of fresh air and a view of something besides the city. They have a very unique playground area for the kiddos made up of different animals.such as a giant tarantula, a humming bird, a rock tiger , and swings shaped like saguaro cacti. If you like wide open spaces , and a place to hike this is the perfect park for you.

I brought my parents to join the full moon hike. It was a guided hike. A good group of people showed up. Amanda led us through and she would stop and tell us facts about the park, its wildlife and plants. You could tell she cared about what she does. The hike was 2 miles long and about 2 hours- although it felt much shorter. Amanda and her four helpers were great! Both, my parents and I, loved the hike.

Hiked down to Flycatcher Trail to see wildflowers! There’s also currently some poppies and lupine around the Butterfield/Gasden Trail intersection. Kids loved the playground afterwards too.

Great park for hiking and trail running. Trails and bathrooms are well maintained. There's a $7 parking fee. Even though they accept cards, you'll need cash if the station is closed.

The sand dunes are cool and it’s located after a pretty good stretch of road without many stops, so it’s a good time to stop. However, on my last visit, the dumpsters were flowing over with trash, no toilet paper in any of the bathrooms and no running water/soap to wash hands. There isn’t is a marked parking lot so cars are going in many different directions. I didn’t feel comfortable staying overnight or even for a bit, it’s literally just a place to avoid going in your pants lol

Great hike. Wouldn't recommend during the summer as there is no shade

First visit to AZ and first time to this Park. Will be back for sure. The views along the trails are amazing. The lizards creep you out at first if you don't know they are there. But what an amazing place to hike!

We did the Rainbow Valley to Toothaker Trail hike. It was a beautiful day to start with but started feeling the desert heat though the temp was only 65 by 11 am. Got to enjoy the beautiful golden poppies and lupines on the trail. Start early and take additional bottles of water. Happy Trails!

Happy to see Estrella growing in beautiful ways. I’ve enjoyed the trails and the Camp Hosts have been nothing short of amazing. It’s always great to see their friendly smiling faces. Hope Estrella with have camping in the future. It has so many wonderful trails to explore. It’s definitely a hidden gem I enjoy spending time at. The park is always clean and well cared for. Even by trail crews out working hard.

We did a stretch of Baseline trail. Nicely kept trails. Get a trail map at the entrance. The picnic area at Ramada 15 has grills... wish I had brought along some food to grill. The ground squirrels under the shade trees kept us quite entertained. Saw some cool lizards on the trail too! Great place to visit right outside the city.

Estrella Mountain Regional Park: Serving as the mountainous backdrop around the Phoenix Speedway this stunning reserve is home to the Estrella Mountain Competitive Track. No bikers today but did see a few on horseback.

  • 4/5 Lu R. 5 months ago on Google
Very nice. Relaxing to hike or have a picnic. The kids' play area could have more entertainment. I like how dark it gets at night. It brights up the stars in the sky. The restrooms were clean.

I've been coming here for years, it's well kept and trails are fun for everyone! I personally like to mountain bike and have picnics with my family here. The park is so big that it usually feels private whenever I arrive, which is pretty awesome if you ask me!

  • 5/5 Brandon S. 1 year ago on Google
Very pretty nice easier hikes . Around the mountain range ,only thing is much narrower trails so be on look out for dangerous animals, just stay on trails and should be fine . Alot of horse Flys and gnats you will encounter so be prepared for that . Otherwise a nice place.

Came here for years and it was good. Now there is new management and higher prices, but no increase in care of parks or benefits. Staff was not rude specifically but fairly curt and quick to point out that signs were posted. Small and hard to find signs. We'll see if it gets better. So far not a great start in turn over.

  • 4/5 Pam A. 3 years ago on Google
I like the trails. The only issue is there are no trashcans, so you can.pick up after your dog on the trails.

  • 5/5 Bill L. 4 years ago on Google
Hiked 5 miles today. I'm a novice hiker and it was doable although admittedly a challenge in a few spots. All the staff and fellow adventurers were very friendly. Beautiful scenery. Just keep your eyes on the trail, especially while going downhill. Don't get so busy hikung that you forget to pull over and look up. Magnificent!

Nice park with plenty of pavilions for picnics. Lots of cool trails. People in the nature / visitor center could have been more engaging.

After a long day of looking for a nice and somewhat quiet place to have lunch and play with our drone, we remembered that there was a lovely state park with trees and hiking trails just minutes from home. Don't know why it was so empty on a beautiful October Saturday but, lucky us! Very peaceful and plenty of room to play with our drone.

We love hiking here in the morning before the day heats up. We were visiting family recently and decided to go on a weekday. It wasn’t busy at all. The trails are marked but I would use their map to make sure you make the right turns based on the trail you want to stick to. The woman who was working at the booth was friendly and helpful.

Like most national parks, you pay an entrance fee and the park is ready for you to explore. I like that you can choose the distance and hiking level to determine which trail or trails are best for you.

I've been going to this place for many years! It's amazing and plenty of space to go hiking, walking, have picnic and camping. Keep in mind there is a minimal fee to enter the park, I would suggest getting the annual pass as it allows you to visit other parks.
